Thread: Due to popular demand...

I'm not particularly strong-feeling either way on this issue, but for fun I'll play devil's advocate. It seems a little unnecessary to be extremely upset that we have to "regrind" our profession. Basically, all of our old pets will still work, at the same level, with no need to do anything on our part. We're not *losing* anything, we are *gaining* access to a new system and new content. Complaining about it is roughly analagous to the devs deciding to give shipwrights more ships to build, and then having the shipwrights demand that some crafted deeds of the new ships be placed in their inventory because they "would have crafted them earlier if they had the chance".
Basically, I feel like this new specials system will give CH a much-needed boost in fun and effectiveness. From the reports that I've heard from TC, it doesn't take an astoundingly long time to level up pets, and if we just go out and have fun with our pets as normal, we'll gain access to more and more powerful abilities as we go along.

ok get ready.... Yes it does suck to be a MCH with pets youv had since launch and only few months into the game.... You would think MY Frenzied Grual or something like My Great Plains Stalker would be an advantage to already have come the new system.. I can't brgin to tell you how much I used these guys, they fought with me through everything... MY Stalker has been in every event and I used him in every doungen. Therefore you would think they would have some sort of experiance already. I am not going to delte something I am attached to and worked hard for and had forverer for a special attack... thats pathetic..
I hate how sony always FORCES us to do things..
like KAshyyyk, we are forced to use space travel... i can go on forver... blaaahhh

IF the devs made our pre-existing pets fully-matured with open ability slots, we wouldn't be able to use them right away. I would recommend still making all manner of CH's go out and acquire fresh tames to learn the abilities like normal. This is not a grind, and would bring back the thrill of baby-hunting, but instead you do it to make your existing pets better. So long as we don't have to go through a horrendous grind when most of us loyal veteran CH's already did our ONE profession grind, this would be acceptable to me.
Personally, 100/100 vitality would be useless to me. I take very good care of my older pets and the ones I really like and use frequently. For instance, this would not benefit me when I had bought a new CL70 BE pet a week prior to hearing about this CH upgrade. My pet is still 100/100, but because I stupidly went and acquired it before this upgrade, it'll be useless now and gimped, because fresh new tames start with an ability (let's say, an L3) and my pre-existing pet will not, thereby cheating it of a few training points (since you need to train the L1 version, then L2, then L3 to finally make it on par with the newly-tamed pet that comes free with it.)
Aside from that imbalance which gimps older pets (when frankly, veterans should be rewarded) --like all the others have said, the major problem is forcing MCH's to grind again. None of us asked for change, we asked for a fix. While the change doesn't sound bad, in fact the new system sounds great, you package it along with a huge new grind that effectively makes us useless until we grind for the ability slotsand level our formerly-grown-turned-baby-again pets.
I have no problem running around looking for babies on planets, to tame them, fight a little with them, and learn the abilities. That is not really grinding to meet an XP cap, it is something that will augment our pre-existing pets, and therefore is acceptable.
I would be happy with even just one of Ko-a's mentioned "tokens", rather than multiples, because I doubt SOE would give us that much and I'll take whatever I can get, with a grind that huge looming ahead of us.
My feelings exactly. It's the grind of existing pets I am worried about.
Finding/taming babies to get new abilities is actuall CH content so that hunt will be fun...but the grind to make 20+ pats mature wont lol
I would however to say to be fair to all the vitality change should happen if we have to grind any of our pets. If in a compromise we can only select a few to be completely mature they should be revitalized. I take care of my pets also, but some don't and we have to make sure they are not alienated and arent forced in a predicament if they have to use that prt in a grinding fashion.
However the vitality really wont be needed if they make all the pets in our datapad mature.

I also have no problem going out and taming new pets and getting the new "specials" but I am losing all the pre-existing specials my existing pets have without any compensation. I already tamed and trained these. I have used them in countless missions. Many were tamed or bought to serve a paticular purpose according to the special they had. I have teams of pets set up this way. To have to grind each of these to obtain the ability to learn these new specials seems unfair. What is the veteran CH getting from this. Vitality is not really an issue for me, I have always been careful with my pets. But they need to be able to use specials. I have already ground out the exp. Please allow existing full grown pets to have the training slots opened. This would still require us to find the creatures with the skills we want and tame them. I am looking forward to that part. Dont make it an almost unbearable grind on our pre-existing pets that have already been trained specials and that were broken because of lack of forthought.

Thanks for posting this to the Devs.
Hopefully something will come of it.
I'm not happy with how some of these things are working out, I'm really not.
Straight conversion of existing pets with specials to new pets with learned specials is the preferred solution. My grizzled Kusak used to have a Dizzy/KD combo ... he should still have one. That's a fix. What we're getting isn't a fix and isn't an improvement, it's just new ... new bugs, new grind, new imbalances. I don't know why this team eschews slow steady improvement and prefers letting things rot for a year and then re-inventing them from scratch, it is *not* the professional way to do things, but we seem to have lost that war at the executive level long ago.
Out the door on 8/4, but good luck, amigos.
