Thread: An MCH and PVP...
My conclusion about pets in pvp in the current combat system :
- if it's a medium or large sized battle, keep your pets in your datapad.
- if you run a duel or skirmish fights, they can be helpfull.

Due you joined the wrong side. Imps have been loosing for the past 6 monts as we are outnumbered 3 to one. The only advantage imperials have is the highly flamable ATST and the fact that high ranking members can ifnore scans. Thats it. Period.
- Non-humans get an FP penalty
- Wookiee's are not wanted in the Empire
- Many of the Imp players on my server are self-righteous asses
- It goes along with the roleplaying of my character
- I'd rather be a part of a resistance for the good of all than a greedy evil empire
- AT-ST and the like just aren't enough to win me over to the dark side
It's no wonder Imps are outnumbered. That's exactly why they did the crackdown, to even the playing field a bit. What's ironic is you have people that "look up" to the defense stackers like they are gods or are talented, but in actuality it's their defense stacking that makes them god-like. A group of us (5) spent 10 minutes trying to kill one Imp. He was buffed, on whatever crack they use nowadays and defense stacked to the gills. We couldn't hit him at all. Now that's ridiculous when you miss someone that much. It shows the severe imbalance that defense stacking causes.

But is it fair for those that does pvp and only pvp to be brought down to the level of people who likes to do other things?
What isn't unfair about still having two fighting professions to use in PVP? The only thing we're saying is defense stacking gives ungodly resists to being hit. Brought down to the level of one profession PVPers? Shouldn't one profession be enough to compete? To hit a target? I'd think so. You could say that taking out defensive stacking would disenfranchise the multi-class PVPers, but then you can also say that leaving it in disenfranchises the majority of PVPers that aren't multi-classed and are just here to have a good time. When you have gods owning PVP it's no fun for anyone. Using the right specials and the right strategies should be what it's about, not hoping you can penetrate stacked defense modifiers.

This evening me and a couple friends got together and took on a TKM and a Master Pistoleer with CH pets. None of us were buffed. Me and my friends decided we were going to take them by surprise since they were running around overt. So, I went and got my overt status for an hour and we crept up on them. I sent in my two BE narglatches on the Master Pistoleer and he went down in a few seconds, then the TKM came up on us and I sent my pets on him while he was fighting another TK and I was shooting Pistoleer 2/2/4/2. The end result was all that was left were the CH'spowerful dewback mount (we're talking 60 kinetic and 85 other resists) and his cat, which was comparable to one of my nargies. We took the pets down and waited. The TKM came back and walked right up to us non-chalantly acting like he was done and poof, he attacks. My pets were on him in a second and I ran out of range. He quickly became a corpse at our hands and that was the end of it, they didn't come after us anymore. lol None of us were buffed, except the TKM, but he must've had crappy buffs.
In my opinion it's the defense stacking that's really hurting the CH pets in combat. That and high kinetic armor. I'm ok with the armor, but the defense stacking has to go. This is making people extremely god-like and it's unfair to those of us that would like to PVP and have an artisan (or CH) profession as well. Everyone should be able to get involved in PVP and have an equally good time. When power players are able to stack defenses from multiple professions it's unbalanced and unfair to the rest of us. I do believe pets would have a role in PVP if the stacking is done away with. I believe people are stacked so far beyond normal that they cannot be hurt unless a mob attacks them at once. This is what I believe to be the true plight of CH pets in PVP right now. And it's also affecting those of us without the points for two fighting professions just to stack stats.

Freth you i didnt go down in seconds, you sent the narglatches after me, i kept on healing bearing in mind i am also an unbuffed wookiee, and you and your 'unbuffed' friends included a buffed master commando who killed me in one hit
my gurrek is 'comparable' to your narggies?
its the other way round

The others were not buffed. If the TKM was buffed I didn't know about it.

My question is how to you make your pets use their special attacks reliably. I have tried the:
/tellpet follow; or appropriate command for "follow"
/pause 2;
/tellpet attack or appropriate command for "attack"
to no avail. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

You have one pvp prof and one pve prof. Much difference from people who has 2 pvp profs. You get the perks of having a tank. Most of these people don't. One profession pvp is boring. If pvp is enough with just one profession you'll see a lot of master weaponsmith/master TKA or some such. Then what'll happen, you'll get rid of interdependency. Everyone will be self sufficient, there'll be no market.
And if you know what you're doing, yes one prof is enough to hit even a defense stacker. Stun em, use aim, use an accurized weapon (instead of a max damage one), and you'll hit em. They're not gods, they just look like it because of good armor and buff. Get the correct equipment and learn what specials do and you can compete in pvp. Probably still die more than the hardcore pvpers, which is expected. Using the same template a hardcore pvper will still kill us part timers most of the time. Their reflexes are sharper and they know what to do and can improvise better. It should be difficult for you to beat a full time pvper, think of your average foot soldier taking on a navy SEAL.
Another thing to mention, you shouldn't be able to kill everyone with just one prof. It should bea rock, paper, scissor game. How boring it is when you have one prof that can kill anyone. Maybe the prof you have just is not meant to beat that other guy's prof. This is where double prof pvpers excel, they can choose which prof to use for what opponent.
Jol. I'm almost to Master Pistoleer. My pets are my melee. I have two BE narglatches that do the work for me. I also have a couple of Bloodseeker Mites that do not take damage at all from electric or fire. I also have an AOE poison Gaping Spider Recluseand an AOE plague Screecher. It's these kinds of pets that do work with PVP provided the opponent isn't double-stacking defenses. I realize I should not rely heavily on my pets for PVP and I also realize one rancor isn't gonna do squat against melee classes in PVP. I try new tactics and the latest ones seem to work pretty well.
Getting back to Pistoleer. The real issue here is the fact that defense stacking makes opponents super hard to beat. I've said it before in another thread... I think PVP should be about your own skill and how you use your profession, not defense stacking. Any schmoe can train in two professions and stack defenses, then stand there laughing as he beats up people that can't hit him. I mean, how insulting is that? The fact is, yes, anyone can train two professions and stack, but if we all did that there wouldn't be diversity in fighting professions and PVP would get boring real quick. What's happening now is the defense stackers are preying on the one profession PVPers and laughing their asses off at them. This isn't right and it needs to change. A master fighting profession like Pistoleer should be able to do some damage. I don't care how good the melee professions are, people can't dodge bullets or laser fire when you're firing ever second.

I disagree. I feel one profession should be enough to compete on a good level in PVP. Just because you can punch me with your fist doesn't make you able to dodge Pistoleer shots. Therein lies the flaw in your idea that someone with two professions should be better than someone with one profession. Yes, they can use whichever professionand specials they want and they have more at their disposal, but allowing a melee class to dodge bullets while fighting someone else melee is stupid. Noone can dodge bullets (or in this case laser fire which is even faster than a bullet). Therefore, if you're going to use a melee class you should take penalties when being fired upon, the same way a Pistoleer is vulnerable to melee knockdown. Common sense goes out the window instead and a Pistoleer has one helluva time hitting one of these people when they are in Pistoleer range and vulnerable. This is what I'm talking about. I say each profession should have its own strengths and weaknesses and multiple professions should give you the extra goodies, but not the overlapping defense mods that make it ridiculously hard to hit someone. There's nothing uber about being able to gain stackable stats and then stand there laughing while people try to hit you. It's ridiculously overdone. If I have to /aim before every shot then something is wrong.
