Thread: Top Five Issues with the Creature Handler Profession
- Either boost the CH pet storage limit, or allow pets to be sold on vendors (or both).
- Raise the Max Pet Levels cap
- Bring in some new incentives for MCH (such as new commands)
- Quicker pet regeneration
- BRING BACK THE BABIES!!!!
My primary character has been a CH since week 2 of release and I am currently at 4/3/2/3.
1. Server boundry getting stuck. I'm sure devs are working on it. It has been an issue and nearly every CH is hoping for a fix.
2. Datapad taking so many attempts to call a pet. This started up recently and is highly annoying. Makes it very difficult to call a pet in an emergency situation.
3. Non-CH should have the pets that can be given to them way powered down. I argued about this when they made the changes but devs were hell bent on powering down CH. When the devs thought they gave CH a bone for selling pets, instead they ended up watering down the CH profession. You can make 10x the money and generate far more xp doing missions than selling pets...and the market dries up pretty fast. I hate to say I was right, but I'm a person who does not matter (IE: can't hire or fire the devs.).
4. Give Master CH a big bump in pet level handling and create babies that would correspond to to that. There needs to be a lot of lvl 60-70 dif pets to train. Something that will really set a master apart from a 4/3/1/3 calling lvl 40s.
5. Make pet guarding better. Make enrage and emboldingcause a pet to act like a wild aggressive creature, even if handler is incapped or dead. The pet will focus on attacker and not give up until one of them is dead. (Just like trained dogs will...fight to the death to protect its master.) There needs to be some connection to improved pet AI when under the control of a high level CH.
I know it would take away from master scout a little, but Creature Handlers REALLY should be able to see CL levels before they try to tame. I'm getting 10-15 tells a day asking me, what's the CL of this, what's the CL level of that. Then again, this may be more of an issue of lazy players.
Do not do this. This is the reason for different classes. If you want to know the CL of a creature get a master ranger to help you out. If every class has every ability then what is the point of different classe at all. Jebus lazy people piss me off. Letme be able as a Master Ranger to Call a Level 50 Rancor, Become A Master Jedi, Master Weaponsmith, etc, etc etc, that way its easy and I can be UBER.
OK modifying my list a bit, and adding to it:
1) Pets are NOT healing in the datapad. ThisNEEDS to be fixed.
2) Pet pathing still needs work. Mine get stuck constantly, particularly on hills.
3) Grouped pets should be considered in mission levels offered at terminals.
4) CHs need the creature knowledge skill to see creature CLs.
5) Remove the requirement to be in a camp or city to call a pet. This is now meaningless without datapad insta-heal.
6) Increase total called CL for Master CH.
7)MORE pet storage!
Vertexon, what is the status on these issues?
- Even though the devs said that our pets would warp through obstacles, my larger pets are still stumbling over the rocks on tattooine and causing me to have to go back for them.
- If my pet gets stuck at one of these intangible zone delineations, I have to go back for them if /tellpet (follow) doesn't work. If I don't (if I stand there and repeatedly tell them to /tellpet (follow) they will auto-store.
- Pets auto-store randomly and I can't call them unless I am in a city/camp/public building. In the same vein, there is no reason for the city/camp/public building call restriction.
- There is also little reason for the time limit to store pets. If my DX2 was about to break in combat, I would store it and switch weapons so it wouldn't break (and I could use a weaponrepair tool later). If my pet is attacked by something it cannot beat and will clearly lose, I would like the ability to put it away and take the risk alone. Likewise, if my pet is poisoned and starts aggroing on things, I would like to put him away until the poison effect is worn off so that he won't aggro on everything in range.
- Please give us more pet storage. I am at my limit and want to collect more unique animals, but don't want to give up my first pets. I havea (rather silly)sentimental attachment to them and don't want to release (destroy) them. If you don't give us extra space, a kennel/stable/petting zoo to put them in, please allow us to retire them (regardless of their vitality) to (BE like) deeds. You could even be generous and allow them to be re-tamed (at the exact same vitality status as before so we aren't just doing it to repair our pets vitality).
A suggestion though. Could BE's or Medicsbe given an extra ability akin to veterenary science so that they could treat our pets for lowered vitality and maybe raise it back to 100?
My top 5 issues:
1. Bring back old pets that were taken out due to "too much power" such as frenzied grual, arachne webmaster, kliknik queen, merek harvester, etc. (considering I've seen non-CH imps with THREE at-st's which we all know the stats on those) as well as any pets that are in game that dont spawn babies for some ridiculous reason (such as fambaa, plains hunter, gurks, snorbals, piket longhorn, seething bol crusher, swirl prong impaler, borgle life spatter, crimson blurrg, bull malklok, etc.)
2. Better baby spawn procedure (hard creatures such as rancors and gurrecks are really easy to find while giant veermoks and hanadaks are the rarest creatures in the game and yet not that great). My suggestion would be to let babies be present before milking the lair only if they are level 35 or lower, as for the higher leveled ones, make us work for it and let the baby come out once we've taken out the first group spawn and tapped the lair.
3. Armor system sucks...lol. I mean come on, creatures like a perlek or mountain krevol have light armor (level 13 and 14) but a ravenous torton - level 32 - with its HUGE shell has none?? Thats just one example. I think every creature needs to be looked at again and re-armored.
4. More pet storage (atleast 20 or give us special droids to store them in) and higher tamebale pets (anything between 50 and 100 should be allowed for master CHs)
5.Read through 1-4 again : )
Oh, and by the way...whats up with a regular bloodseeker mite baby (from endor) better than a bloodseeker mite queen? All the stats are better, i checked. I was about to tame a regular one tonight when i saw the queen and flipped, but i was quickly relieved of my excitement when i checked the stats and realized the regular mite was better. Doesnt make sense at all

Make "CALL" the default option for pets in the datapad when you click on them.
REMOVE the need to be in a city, residence, or camp to call out your pet. It is an utterly ridiculous and tedious procedure to have to follow just to be able to call out a pet.
FIX the pet pathing problem.
FIX the auto-store problem.
Yeah I'm beginning to get very annoyed with the whole pet command issue.I'm a pretty patient person, but when theres constant issues with pets listening and carrying out commands I might as well be just as much a pain in the a$$ about it in the forums as it is to me when I'm playing the game!!
I posted this in the thread about what other commands would be usefull for the CH profession.COME ON PEOPLE! Lets fix whats broken before we try to give Ideas on what other broken commands we can come up with.
Hey I have a great Idea how about getting the pet to do what you tell it!!! How many countless times Im running to a waypoint for a mission to find my pet 100m behind me just standing there !!!!! How many times I tell my pet to attack and He just stands there and I get freakin attacked and killed wHile my pet stands and watchs!!!! How many times my pet just completely disappears during a fight and you guessed it I get killed again.
How about we fix all of these CONTINUING PROBLEMS before we add new commands !YA YA I know submit a bug report .I have submitted 50 of them(and yes I was very civil when i submitted them) .But after a while it begins to get old when the same crap keeps happening over and over and over .
Suggestions (probably already brought up or would have a better fit on another post... sorry, I don't have much time)well anywhoooooo:
Bring Back Pet Healing Med Exp -If not to the medic who heals the pet then to the handler who ownsthe pet. Let med exp be high for novice med skill levels then lower exp for higher medlevels (sotra like wepon experience with weaker animals) or reverse it. That feature should have never been taken away, just adjusted. This also helps medics in training up to a certain point in their skill ladder (or after a certain point), it beats handing out in an empty hospital on slow days or trying to find a group to to join just to heal someone... bring back even a teeny tiny bit of incentive for pet healing please.
Lair Heals - Why shouldn't tamed creatures be able to heal their "Masters" as they would a lair? It's sad to know that my pet has healing prowess he/she doesn't share with thier masters. They give their life for their owners (or up until it gets less than a quarter of ham, then they run like, he11, but that's fine with me "Save yourself Bubbles!"), and masterssincehave achieved the ultimate animal communication (per the now nerfed gaming guide you could buy for an additional $20). Get rid of the dysfunctional befriend command and replace it with something like a health watch command. It doesn't have to be as powerful as a top level medic but pretty effective since there's no exp for healing pets anymore.... and keep it at a master level to prevent people becoming novieCH just to get pet heals.
All pets don't have "voice"... what's up with that? I send my adorable little huurtons into battle and all they do is growl in sign language. Or the trick animation where they're supposed to bark... no cute little "woof, woof"??? There are a few more pets without "voice", Mountain Squills are the only other one that comes to mind so far.
Im also FOR the broken record to ---> Remove need to be in a city to pull pet, please!
I know this is a top 5 thing but I have a top ten list.
1) I want to sell pets on vender and even the bazzare. I hate wasting my time hawking them around town.
2) Fix the Path issue.
3) Clear up to +1 pet thing for Novice 1+1 = 2 not 1. I don't mind the non CHs have a limited level pet but I was very confused whene I hit novice.
4) Make your grouped pet affect mission levels. some of us only use our pets. I am also a master marksmen but to get better xp i unequip at the mission terminal so I can get mission my pets can handle. This only worked at novice. a second part to this would have to be I'm not getting xp if my pet get KOed before the enemy is dead. I get xp while KOed if someone else finish the job for me. why not them?
5) Pets not healing in the datapad for me. Not only that but Fully healed pet come out damage sometime. I thought pet calling restrictions was because We could insta-heal, if we can can we get rid of the pet calling restrictions. I don't enjoy making tents.
6) Let's get some better commands. some are only useful for xp you get training them. like:
(a) SIT command to increase Pet Regen so they can recover their HAM in the same pace as me while I'm resting
(b) Run command: So my pet will keep up as I burst run.
(c) Ham specific hit commands: Head shot, body shot, Leg shot and the like.
(d) Bleed Commands: Head, Leg and Body with a chance of bleed.
7) Can we just have a NAMING Command and not make me train a pet to understand its name and then again to work with my macros.
8) Fix or eliminate the the play and feed thing. It doesn't do anything that I can see. (If it is for the roleplayer. can the players have an option to turn it off?)
9) Fix the Call menu. I never come up on the first click. I have notice that If I click on one pet and the another, the Call will come up on all pets correctly. It would work just fine if you stop hiding it. this is easier that finding the code that fails to unhide it some time.
10) Storage. we need more. I don't mind have the present limit representive of you can only do so much at once but can we get some secondary storage system. Like driod holding data, you could have artistian make pet cages of different sizes. That way I can store my collection back at my house and only bring my special pets out with me.
If I am wrong about any of the point I have brought, feel free to correct me with a sharp blow to the head (which would make a great pet command).
