Thread: Petition to alter the Creature Handler XP Grind

Realistically, I do not expect the devs to come in here and say you are right. I would feel very fortunate if Ko-a or a lurking dev reads the thread finds some valid points and uses those in their super secret discussion forums.

So even though the thread is titled Petition, I view it as a discussion. I believe more people sharing their personal experiences and opinions will help this thread.

That being said, I believe the grind issues most people are complaining about are with higher end pets. The scale skews to high as you approach level 70.

Another factor may be how a pets CL combines with a player CL. Lower level pets are easier to grind because once your pet has hit once most CHs can easily kill lower level targets quickly. So even though the ratio of XP gained per kill and XP needed per pet level may be somewhat similar to higher end pets, the time needed for each kill is substantially different.

And that is my thought for the day.

Well we all know nothing will be done untill well after the expansion launches and they get the game up and running after the srvers crash and new and old bugs surface as has happened evry expansion. Even though TC wasn't stable a week ago we all know its going live on the due date if not earlier lol.

Instability thy name is SWG. But maybe sometime in the next couple of publishes they can address this, keeping it in sight means they don't think we just gave up and will accept it as is.

Kur you may be right about us wasting our effort here, but always think positive and stick to your guns!

Its just sad that an online RPG that is suppose to be balanced with content, is mainly clouded and disquised as a lack luster job.

Its all about money. I would rather have bug fixes and patches instead of Mustafar! But its all about business, and Mustafar is set in place by SOE to go active against City of Villians.

Fight the good fight!

I have come to the conclusion that this will not change until it is in the 5 issues list. Probably would not be taken seriously until it is number one. So anyone that feels this is their top issue should repost in the top 5 thread and make sure the issue is given the proper priority.

It takes too long to make a nice pet reach a single maturity level, and it just urks me to no end that my most loved BE wonders remain dinky because I don't have the time to brainlessly grind them so they can simply GROW as the new system permits.

Pet ablitiies as they are, might as well be nonexistent for me. I don't play more then a few hours a week, never group, and generally chase quests instead of fighting things for no apparent reason or even for character advancement. Under these playing conditions it is unlikely for me to get any pet beyond few lvl 1 abilities. So you could just take it out and my play would remain the same.

So, I do support a change to the system. To something that:

*Is a more progressive pet training system. (quick at the lowest and first abilities. very long and hard at the highest and last abilities)

*Emphasizes exploring and taminginstead ofcombat (ie: make taming the source of a CH learning special abilities)

As it stands, for me, the casual player, they might as well have thrown their development time in the trash can.

Really to sum it up, im finding grinding pet abilities more boring and dull than my job, and i get paid to do that, not vice-versa. To expect us to grind 50 million+ xp more than any other non-jedi profession to genuinely become a master is insanity.

Creature handler's are in general a different type of player to most other combat professions& forcing them to grind incessantly is not the way to keep them paying the subscription every month.

Id like to see the grinding taken out altogether, but Im sureit wont be. If a compromise had to be reached i would say that it really shouldnt take so long, 4 or 5 million xpto fully trainone creature just makes me lose the will to live. Id put the growth back on a daily timer, and just have 1 xp requirement per creature until it gained all points and slots - say 1 million for a level 80. Or 10 rollovers of 100k etc, just less grinding please!

Also make the pet abilities tradeable between players and listable on vendors, like droid commands in space are, then those who wanted to grind out abilities can also make some cash out of it, seeing as its tough to do missions as a ch with the group system the way it is at the moment.

Quests which take us all over the galaxy on wild goose chases to find mythical beasts are what its all about for me though aswell.
