Thread: holocron question

Again... if you guys would have read my WHOLE post... you'd see thatI HAVEN'T been holo-grinding. The fact that I am doing a profession because of a holocron does not (in my books) mean that I'm holo-grinding. It's not that only thing I'm working on.

I'll probably just move on to a different profession and maybe pick up CH again if/when they fix it by Publish 47.

If your not holo grinding why are you asking about unlocking? Why are you posting in Jedi forums? Why are you moving onto other profesions?

Read my post up there.. Read what it says about the grind.

For some reason that song 'Another one bites the dust' keeps playing in my head.

I have been working on Creature Handler for the past month now (a holocron told me to master CH). Since then, I have been playing the game anywhere from 20-30 hours per week. I have only gotten this far in the profession: 2-2-2-3 ... after 4 weeks (mind you, I am not TOTALLY spending all my time doing CH activities). Here is the situation (I'm getting to the actual question soon... the one that I cannot get an answer on)

- pets disappear when ever they like... during battle, before battle, taking a stroll through the countryside, etc.

- using a CL 12 BE pet, I only get about 140-190 CH XP when I kill creatures that are in the high 20's, low 30's

- my tamed wild pets are nothing in comparison to the pets that my BE friend makes

- pets tamed in the wild are not all that frequent, are sometimes dangerous, and take WAY too long... given the

amount of XP that I get when/if I do tame them

- I get about 1000 XP if I tame "junk pets" that my BE friend leaves in the house for me (which I then release or delete)

- pets stop following

- pets run off on their own

- pet that are supposed to be fierce suddenly tuck tail and hide

- all my mounts require me to create a macro to use the "/tellpet (name) follow" function

- at this rate, and the amount of remaining CH XP needed to get master (about 822,000 XP remaining),

Ishould be ableto Master Creature Handler by Christmas !!! Do the math.

- I am getting sick and tired of the profession and its bugs, and it's lack of XP being handed out.

... ok... here's the question...

If I ignore my last holocron, which said to Master Creature Handler, would there be any chance of still unlocking a force sensitive slot?

I do not want any hints or tips. I am not asking for a way to unlock the FSS. I simply want to know if I bynot doing what the holocron

asked I will have forfeited my chances at unlocking the FSS. I don't think that an answer from SOE on this issue would give anything

away, or give me hints, or give me tips. I just want to know, because the CH profession is becoming a total waste of my time. I have

no more skill points to spare, and have lots of other professions that I can level things up in.

Does anyone have any answers for me on this? Please?

As I understand it, under the current rules to become a jedi, you will have to do CH at some point since it is one of the professions you must master. That being said, CH is only one of 5 that you have to do, so you could do other professions, hopefully get your other 4, then return to CH. The drawback to that, is that in theory, you will not be able to get a holo to tell you another of your professions until you finish CH. I would recommend sticking with CH until done, since you already have a lot of it done. Try having your BE friend making you a good level 16 pet and use that, seemed to give me most CH exp bang for the buck. Hope this helps

I'm a 4-4-3-4 and recently made the xxx4 number. I grinded for 3 hours tame and release by picking an area with heavy spawn on Naboo (Talus or Correllia are just as good). The level from 3 to 4 is significant and can be done without too much difficulty (3 hours is not out of the question if you ask me - and yes, I know itcan be done faster). If you want a less dangerous way to level up, do tame and train. You seem to have made a high enough level that you can do pretty good at it. The idea is to find a dense population area for lower level creatures and make a race track type circuit out of going around to each one over and over and checking for babies. Use a Swoop bike (for speed), a +25 taming BE clothing (REALLY reduces time wasted by failures), and possibly mask scent BE clothes if aggros are in the area. Then...BE FOCUSED, don't be distracted, and get it done. It will fly and you'll feel the success that will motivate you further.

When you get sick of doing it, step away...go kill something, whatever. Then come back.

Good luck. Don't let it get you down. I'm grinding Ranger on my Ahazi character and crafting is annoying the crap out of me. Especially since I ran out of money to buy cheap resources. ---- I might have to do/sell some more cross server Holo xchanges to get over that.

Maybe after they redo the Jedi stuff next patch there might be an alternate way to unlock it but as of now I think grinding professions is the only way to do it. If your holo said CH then that's what you have to do if you want to unlock it. If you're looking for more XP then grab a level 25-30ish pet and head to the Geonosian Caves on Yavin IV. That or hunting enraged Rancors on Dathomir are gonna be the best ways I know of to get XP.

They Jedi system is not changing next month. At least not the way you unlock your slot. That will not be changing for several patches. This is a huge change and one that the developers do not appear to even have the answer to yet.

Ok, fine.. I fall into the "holocron grind" category... and yes, I'll probably fall out of it.

I was asked to post HERE by a SOE CSR... otherwise I wouldn't have. Sorry to have inconvenienced you.

Thanks for your valuable input. Really. It's such a nice change around here. And your sarcastic wit... outstanding.

also insted of getting 2223 maybe you should try going up tree at a time this is what i did and in the end it worked for the best because i could get 3 pets out at one time.

Ya, I can already get 2 pets out at at time... I was under the impression that you can only have 3 out at a time when you reach Master.

As well, what's the point of having multiple pets out anymore? The XP you get is now divided and lowered between the pets.

(ie. based on the Max pet level.... a CL 15 and a CL 15 would be Max pet level of 30 =less XP)

take your lvl 12 pet and do some ownage on some rancors. granted you need a quick killing profession like tka or rifleman all the pet needs to do is get one hit in. with a lvl 12 pet, you do the tanking and tell the pet to attack. you'll get about 500 CH exp on gnarled rancors and youths and around 700+ on regular rancors and bulls. i did this to get CH back. as soon as you can, get management 3 so you can use two pets at once and get 500 per pet. i lvl to 2 2 2 2 in CH in just a few hours. only to drop it again to work on commando but that is the best way i can think of to grind through CH

I've been a holo CH for about a week. I'm up to 4214. Yeah it's slow a times, but I can earn a lot of XP in a group on dath or in the geno caves. Dath is a lot safer if you're in a good group. Finding a group is the hard part of course. There are almost always people at the geno cave, but after then entry spawn nerf it's slower and a bit more dangerous. The lag is a problem, I've been there before and all of a sudden got a "you've been slain..." message without even seening a geno spawn before I died. Even with buffs and composite you can die quick from head shots from thier stun weapons. The lag makes it worse. I love the geno lab and I hate it. It's the fastest xp in the galaxy but it's also dangerous and there's the possibiltity of getting killed due to lag or other bad luck. For instance, having 2 enchanced kwi spawn to you.

Simple question - when a holocron tells me to master a profession, do I need to master it before opening the next, or can I open all my holocrons and then start the grind?
