Thread: holocron question

Since another CSR told me that I posted in the wrong spot (they told me to post HERE)... and didn't give me an answer...

After 5 failed attempts to get any answers from SOE support email...

I have been working on Creature Handler for the past month now (a holocron told me to master CH). Since then, I have been playing the game anywhere from 20-30 hours per week. I have only gotten this far in the profession: 2-2-2-3 ... after 4 weeks (mind you, I am not TOTALLY spending all my time doing CH activities). Here is the situation (I'm getting to the actual question soon... the one that I cannot get an answer on)

- pets disappear when ever they like... during battle, before battle, taking a stroll through the countryside, etc.

- using a CL 12 BE pet, I only get about 140-190 CH XP when I kill creatures that are in the high 20's, low 30's

- my tamed wild pets are nothing in comparison to the pets that my BE friend makes

- pets tamed in the wild are not all that frequent, are sometimes dangerous, and take WAY too long... given the

amount of XP that I get when/if I do tame them

- I get about 1000 XP if I tame "junk pets" that my BE friend leaves in the house for me (which I then release or delete)

- pets stop following

- pets run off on their own

- pet that are supposed to be fierce suddenly tuck tail and hide

- all my mounts require me to create a macro to use the "/tellpet (name) follow" function

- at this rate, and the amount of remaining CH XP needed to get master (about 822,000 XP remaining),

Ishould be ableto Master Creature Handler by Christmas !!! Do the math.

- I am getting sick and tired of the profession and its bugs, and it's lack of XP being handed out.

... ok... here's the question...

If I ignore my last holocron, which said to Master Creature Handler, would there be any chance of still unlocking a force sensitive slot?

I do not want any hints or tips. I am not asking for a way to unlock the FSS. I simply want to know if I bynot doing what the holocron

asked I will have forfeited my chances at unlocking the FSS. I don't think that an answer from SOE on this issue would give anything

away, or give me hints, or give me tips. I just want to know, because the CH profession is becoming a total waste of my time. I have

no more skill points to spare, and have lots of other professions that I can level things up in.

Does anyone have any answers for me on this? Please?

There have been reports of people ignoring one of their holocrons and unlocking, but no proof of anything.

to be honest... grinding out CH and being sure is a LOT quicker than gridning out the other 30 professions just to prove you need it.

I mastered CH, its slow but just grind through it. The best thing is to grind through combat classes while you do it. I did pistoleer, fencer and commando while grinding up master CH.

Maybe after they redo the Jedi stuff next patch there might be an alternate way to unlock it but as of now I think grinding professions is the only way to do it. If your holo said CH then that's what you have to do if you want to unlock it. If you're looking for more XP then grab a level 25-30ish pet and head to the Geonosian Caves on Yavin IV. That or hunting enraged Rancors on Dathomir are gonna be the best ways I know of to get XP.

The answer is yes, you CAN drop it and do it again and still retain the possiblity of completing later....but 20-30 hours a week? Geez....it wont take you till christmas!

Any answer here is only an opinion.

My opinion is you won't become force sensitive if you don't finish CH.

However, I'm also not interested in grinding out every profession given by the holocronsand hoping that somehow I'll still open it. I'm playing the game the way I like. I'm not going to play something I don't like.

You can wait for the system to change in Publish ??(12??). I'm guessing sometime in the next 9 months. Then you can find an alternate way to unlock.

Thanks for the reply.

I've read about the Genosian Caves, and all the AoE exploiting that's going on there. I'm not interested indoing anything that might put me in some CSR'sban-list, but I will start focusing on doing large hunts on more difficult planets (for Rancors, etc)

I have bee SO frustrated lately, I can't even tell you...

Thanks again. You've already given me a more detailed and honest answer than the past 5 SOE CSR "official" replies.

1) Staff are not going to answer unlock questions.

2)A month to get to 2-2-2-3? You should be asking for tips in the CH section.

3) If it's taking you that long to get through a profesion I would suggest that you quit holo grinding. At the rate your going it will take you years.

4) If your sweating that much EXP on your holo. You will go nuts grinding. And souicidal when/if you do unlock and have to grind jedi.

Thank you, Kdr_Kane...

I think that until they fix the profession (in Publish 42)... I will drop all the skills that I've learned in it so far. I have too many other things that I'd like to do in the game and need to skill points to do it. Doing the CH profession lately has done nothing but cause me grief.

And to the other poster (can't thinkof your "name")... yes, 20-30 hours per week. But, if you read everything, you'd see that I stated that I don't just focus on CH and the pet XP. Did you manage to read any of the other information, like the amount of XP that I am getting, and how much more I need to get to master it?

Anyway, I'm done talking about it. I think that I'll be moving on to other professions.

Ciao.

- I was on Yavin 4

- I was using a CL 12 Kwi

- I used the pet to tank for a Giant Crystal Snake (CL = ??)

- I got about 180 CH XP for the kill

About the CAP's, and it being sarcastic... if you mean me being sarcastic, then yes... I suppose I was.

Anyway. You can forget about this post (how about someone from SOE just delete it). I'm not interested in it, or hearing about, anymore. Really.

Thanks.

Well the only people who need to be worried about being banned there are the AOE exploiters. Not us CH's.

Proof that the holo grind does keep the population down.
