Thread: The Publish 19 Bug [Fixed July 1/2]

I don't mean to offer that as an excuse, I just want to explain what happened.
I'm really sorry this made it to Live. We're working on a fix and we'll get it to you as soon as we can.
Keeping things respectable...
I just have to say that that is not good enough.
This is a game-breaking bug (A "Show-Stopper").
This company has to remain committed to maintaining the live game in a status where it is playable for all professions.
These set-dates for publishes to live (regardless of such enormous bugs) is completely unacceptable.
If a possible fix is going in last-minute, then push the publish date back another day, or whatever it takes to test and check if the bug has actually been removed.
That statement is not one for debate...
Take action and make certain that this company no longer neglects the most important aspect of thier job...
Maintaining and providing a functioning live game.
There is no good reason why this publish would be pushed to live with this bug...
Don't just agree to that with words... make changes so that you uphold SOE's side of the customer/service business agreement.
May the force be with you.

They can't push the publish date back, it's already live. JFreeman said that they thought the fix also fixed this bug

Yes, I know it's already live...
I'm talking about how they *should* handle live publishes.
A bug this enormous should not be "thought it might be fixed" before it is pushed to live.... it needs to be fixed before being pushed to live.
Of course there are times when a bug only presents itself (Or re-occurs) only after it goes live (These you have to live with), but this bug is not one of those.
The Push-to-live dates should be more flexible... there is no excuse for not making certain that this bug was fixed.
May the force be with you.

Sorry for going off-topic here:
You do know that it's now called Lord of the Rings Online and that it has been delayed till 2006

Well this sucks! I was looking forward to my time off this weekend and spending some of it in game finishing several Kashyyyk quests etc. with my pets. Guess that plan goes bye bye now!
I am getting more and more frustrated and disgusted with the DEV's as time goes by. I am thouroughly convinced that they are totally inept and could give a rat's ass about their customers.
This bug and how soon they fix it (IF they fix it) will determine how much longer I play this game. I'll probably stick around until Middle Earth on-line comes out. If that game shows promise I may pitch SWG out the window and tell SOE they can kiss my ass aand my money goodbye!
This is totally unacceptable B.S. from SOE and the DEV's. I totally agree that someone should lose their job over it.

YEP sure do and am happy to see a company that actually DELAYS publishing something so they can get it right!
In meantime I will probably go play WOW with my sons.

It happens so much thay all start to blend togther I can not remeber myself
I agree with our correspondent; I think the reason this is happening is there are groups that work on specific things in an upcoming patch. If they can't fix it in time then it is held off until the next patch.
This same thing happened to armorsmith just a week or 2 ago; They were basically broken, couldn't even drop their armor they had in their inventory into houses, or relist the faction stuff (if remember right on that last detail). That just got fixed with this publish 19.
I almost feel like they don't do hotfixes 'cept if a certain % of the population is totally broken or unuseable. We are just a minority that will have to suffer.
Also I am curious, Ko-aIri , Did they give a possible date span of when next publish will be? I realize some of this information might be classified, but is there anyway you can tell us some time span? Might make life little easier to bare in mean time. Or maybe nudge someone like kind Tiggs to toss a bone out on just when next publish might happen.
