Exactly, I would never have seen this had it not been for Tiggs reply making it appear. No good. Add all SOE reps to Dev Tracker please...

while i don't disagree that it was an agree or disagree use, thats really the idea's behind the star system... If you think its a good post, you agree... sometimes you'd star simiply a good post. For me it was how I read posts that the title didn't catch my eye. I think the system was good. Honestly if someone is feeling "grieved" over 1stars, they need to really rethink their life.

I say keep the useful tool. Keep the star system

I agree with time based ranks........but still allow the stars to be given......a lot of times stars (whether it's one star or five) denotes that the post has something substantial in it and others have either strongly agreed or disagreed.

you'll note that my post numbers and time on the boards is relatively short compared to many here.......

Despite the fact I've pretty good star rating (4.4 average I think), I'm glad to see it go. I agree it became nothing more than a 1 or a 5 type deal and a means of greifing.

But anyhow, this is a nice change. The starring system has just become a form of greifing on the forums.

I'll get one starred for this! BUT I DO NOT CARE! I like the 1-5 stars just fine! Yes, people use it to agree or disagree with posts. But thats the nice part of it! If there is a discussion going on (heated one) and the people are all over the board its nice to see a few hours of the stars shifting 1-4 and to see where the majority stand. ALso I like the ability to disagree with somebody. Without having to post!

Just my 2credits. GUess I'll take one of my last 1 stars with pride.....

Maybe let the correspondants, mods, etc. keep the star posts? I think it's a great way to find helpful posts that aren't stickied. It was also a way to find non-productive posts you didn't care to read.

In the trade forums, it was a great way to find good deals too. Someone with a really great price or selection was often 5-starred.
