After over a year and a half The Star Rating system on the StarWars Galaxies Forum is saying farewell….
While in concept the system is a good Idea, it has not been used in a predominately positive way on our forums
The system is intended to be used to show how helpful a thread is and to occasionally weed out bad post. It has become a system of “I agree or Disagree” or “I like or Don’t Like You” and is used as a tool of grief.
What this change means for you?
1. You will no longer be able to rate posts
2. Those of you with “star granted” ranks WILL get to keep the use of your new icons. From now on though, those icons will instead be associated with the rest of the “time and post” based ranks.
3. The “Star Granted” ranks will be fit into the regular rank system (same titles and similar times)
4. This will not effect any “specialty” titles, and we may add more specialty titles in the future.
5. If you see a post that is inappropriate please make sure to use the “report to moderator” link.
Your welcome to submit your feedback for future consideration but please keep it civil.

Were stars still in? I turned them of as soon as I learned how to. Well, it is good that they go away. I give this idea five sta... wait, cant do that anymore.
*ponders*
Ok, the star removal gets four and a half chainsaw in my big psycho guide.
Excellent!
You couldn't turn them off. At least not in the way that noone could rate you.

Nope, but you could turn it of so that you didnt see any ratings and couldnt post ratings yourself. Thats all that matters to me.

Here's some feedback... why don't Garva's posts show up on DevTracker?
-rlVERY good point. Garva, or any SOE employee's posts shouls show on the DevTracker... or some other tracker.
The Everquest II forums have trackers for: Development - Moderators - GMs - Technical Support - Web Team - International Dev. Can we get the same here? I think it would be quite useful.

A month ago, I had a 4 star rating. One enemy later it was at 2.6 THAT DAY, and even 2 correspondents asked me what the heck.
So thanks for rewarding my griever even more, as his work is now going to be permanently included in my account.
The only solution to abate this achievement is to remove having icons/titles based upon a popularity contest.

It wil change things on the "rank" system but no matter what they do I am sure the "rating" you got when under the star system won't count at all. I suspect when clicking a profile we won't see the "average rating" anymore either. So I don't see how it is rewarding your griefer by making the low rating he gave you "permanent". With the rating gone, there will be no more "rating based" (or like you said, "popularity contest") ranks titles and icons.
But I guess we will have to just see how the ranks pan out when the change become effective.

I read:

3. The “Star Granted” ranks will be fit into the regular rank system (same titles and similar times)
I apologize if I am misunderstanding this, but those WITHOUT "star granted" ranks, currently, appear to have no chance to reclaim them.
