So, let me make sure I've got this straight...
I paid for SWG. I've faithfully maintained my $15.00 a month to play (the highest subscription fee I'm aware of for an MMORPG) for the last 14 months. I paid for JTL.
JTL was initially supposed to have TEN! planets included with it, but the devs pulled that content to include in free monthly updates, "...so that players without JTL wouldn't be left out of so much additional content." So, now, just a few months later I'm going to have to pay for another expansion just to get some of that content I was promised in the first place. And to top it all off, the JTL I originally paid for is being provided, free, with this new expansion!?
.oO(hhmm....JTL was $20.00 ($30.00 in some markets), ROTW is $25.00 and includes JTL. So does this make ROTW worth $5.00?)
I can't begin to understand what makes you think people are going to pay twice for what they already have. Do you not see how insulting it is to see that you're giving away what loyal players have paid for, Do you honestly think it's a good idea to alienate your veteran players this way? I know you want to put this out there hoping to lure players to SWG instead of Middle Earth Online; the timing of the release is obviously no coincedence, but I for one don't relish the idea of paying Sony or SWG to insult me. I don't know if it's the devs or the marketing people or what, but whoever it is sure has a lot of nerve to try and pull a stunt like this. MOE's looking better and better all the time.
It's just sad to think that in the long run I'll actually regret having played this game, as the frustrations I've experienced since signing up have FAR outweighed the enjoyment I've recieved. I'd been hanging in there, waiting for the improvements, but now I just don't see any reason to believe it's going to get better.

Truthfully in my opinion oneplanet isn't an expansion its an update and should have been given to us free, many planets are an expansion.
How much did you pay for swg and get how many planets lol.
This is just too convienent since the movie is comming out soon. seems it was all tossed out as a quick expansion for marketing reasons.
I too would like to know what about those of us with JTL already have been used.
also a true veteran rreward is
Veteran reward 1 = Any player who has 12 months uninterupted service shall recieve adiscount of 30% for our new expansion...
Veteran reward 2 = Any player who has 18 months of uninterupted service shall be given the expansion free of charge. We at soe/Lucas Arts would like to thank you for your loyal service.
Instead we have to pay even more money for any decent new content.

That's the spirit everyone! Rail against them while still paying and playing (since you have to have an active account to post!) Let them know you're willing to bend over while they jack hammer away as long as you can be ignored when you tell them as such!
I know this sounds like treason to those of you who don't have much to do but play SWG, but here's a hint. The sooner everyone leaves this game the sooner either A) There ceases to be no more SW MMOG B) Lucasarts tells SOE to take a flying leap and gets competent developers to create a game that works.
Paying to for the right to complain on the msg board is still giving them the right to screw with us. I bought a 60 day gamecard which will end in May (b/c I had a 30 dollar CompUSA card to use up and I don't like them much either). If this game is still cr4p by then I'm BURNING my SWG cds.

I've been playing SWG since day one. Not continuously mind you...but i keep coming back to it because i'd rather play an established character than start over fresh on a new MMORPG that i'm going to pay 50 bucks for and not play past the free month. I figure if i get at least as much enjoyment as i do out of going to a couple of movies it's worth the price.
As much as them giving JTL free to those people who purchase ROtW pisses me off. (I just reinstated my account last month and paid 20 for JTL and will now have to pay another 25 for ROtW...GRRRR!) It's really no different than a cable or telephone company giving their new customers some sort of get the first 3 months free deal while their loyal existing customers get bent over a chair. I would hope that they give the vet players something othere than a royal rogering concerning the new expansion.
Hopefully we'll see some sort of official response to this question tomorrow. Seeing as it's monday.

well, if "JTL" is realy included for free with the digital download of "rage of the wookies" and when there will be no cheaper download offer for the loyal veteran players who already have bought "JTL", then this is the worst possible marketing ideaforthe new expension.

Actually, it would be more than just a marketing problem.
IfLucasArts links the buying of the expansion to an account then you would have to log in on a LucasArts page. That pagewould then have to check your account to see if it has JTL or not. But the login server & database is owned by SOE, not by LucasArts. To circumvent any privacy issues they would have to ask if you accept them checking your information. This is a very cumbersome way and doing it like this would probably scare off more than one player.
A much easier way of doing this would be sellingjust a key, sending it through emailand then have launchpad check for JTL when the key is used. But, obviously,that way they can't check if you have JTL when you buy the expansion.

I mailed SOE customer service when i saw the news,
today i got a mail back that they don't know anything about this and that we have to watch the website for more news.
Please keep in mind that SOE CS can only tell uss what has been told to them, blame those who arent clear enough in the expansion annoucement.

A lot of people don't seem to aware that it's LucasArts that sells the game and its expansions and it's LucasArts who does the marketing. Even if some people at SOE know more about this, chances are that they are not allowed to discuss it.

Honestly, I don't expect them to give it completely for free just cause we've been playing for forever (that's the Vet Rewards) and they've already said that the Combat Balance would be free so I'm fine there. HOWEVER, I will state and ask that everyone else who feels the same post here so Sony will see that we are infact quite serious.

So let me get this straight, I dropped down 40 bucks (that's a copy of JTL for myself and for my g/f for her account) for absolutely NO reason whatsoever, other than to have been able to play JTL when it first came out? Alright, I understand that yes this is an expansion, and yes it is going to cost money to purchase it. What I DON'T understand is why someone else should get free of charge something I had to pay hard earned money for. There is NO EXCUSE for it. Those of us who were loyal and purchased JTL at release have just been slapped in the face by SOE. I would like to go on record saying that I have long defended and supported SOE by suggesting their products to others and by participating in BETA testing whenever possible. I've followed and supported since before EQ when Alpha but I have to say the Customer Support I have seen in my time participating with SW:G has been simultaniously the best and the WORST, hands down.
I had to pay for and purchase every single expansion for EverQuest, including digital download expansion packs. I did not once wince or complain about them because I knew I was paying for a product that was well worth it. A product that had been programmed and tested for proper release. I did not ask that they give any of it away for free. They also did not include any deals where if you purchased one expansion you got all or ANY of the previous ones for free. THE ONLY DEAL they had was when the EQ Trilogy and Platinum Pack came out and THEN I could understand packaging them all together, there had been at least 5 expansion packs. It is difficult to offer a product to new interested parties when the product must be sold in so many seperate peices to truely enjoy the full experience of it. HOWEVER, SW:G is only on its third expansion. If it is going to bunble itself it should make the bundle a deal for NEW players, not existing ones. The players who gave this game the financial backing and popularity it has today should NOT be simply left in the wind and should NOT be (for lack of better word) DUPED out of something simply because we gave our loyalty to the company at the time it was asked of us. I see no reason financial or otherwise that would or COULD explain the reason for including JTL for FREE with the new Expansion.
Rant aside I would now like to offer a suggestion to SOE: If you are indeed going to include JTL with ROTW why not simply offer ROTW to those of us who already purchased JTL at a discounted price of 5 or even 10 dollars. With it being a digital download it would not be difficult at all to simply verify the activation of JTL on our accounts and offer ROTW at the discounted price to those with the expansion activated.
I know Iam not alone in the outrage at this...
