Don't be clueless about what the issues are, and the ultimate damage caused by delivering a new game as the crescendo, when we were told we'd get improvements. The few SOE-praise'ers who will be left won't be enough to carry the game. And the brief influx that we might get when Ep 3 launches won't be any better than the lift we got with JTL, which as we know, faded almost as soon as it rose, as those new JTL players got a feel for how things really were, and quit almost as quickly as they joined.

LordScotticus, I agree with your opinions 100%. I have had many posts deleted and been banned for opposing the changes in the CU, but big red letters and asking to get banned is not how to fix it. Put together a coherent arguement and attack sony within the rules of the forum, and they will not delete your feedback.
Plus, you might get more attention spamming "Oppose the combat upgrade! Post your opinion on the forums today!" in coronet :-). I think I might set up an AFK macro to do that this week on Starsider.

Oh I'm sorry, my opinion appears to have been deleted again. Let's retry:
THE MAJORITY OF US DON'T WANT THIS GAME YOU'RE PUSHING ON US. WE'VE TOLD YOU THIS OVER AND OVER AND ALL YOU'VE DONE IS DELETE THE POSTS YOU DON'T LIKE.
Funny how that idea keeps getting squelched. Funny how my posts keep getting deleted for expressing the same opinion that your own polls demonstrate. You can run from this truth, you can delete it over and over, but you can't change it and you know it. Looks like Orwell's predictions were off by about 21 years.
Please delete this post too.Message Edited by LordScotticus on 04-11-2005 07:37 PM
I've had an account banned from this message board 3 times in the last 3 weeks. I've never flamed anyone nor used a single cuss word. Didn't get a single warning either. The last one caused me to lose respect even for the ONE dev I thought cared at all about the players. I am SO disappointed in her.
They just deleted my posts then eventually banned me.
Frankly, if it's not positive and praising, SOE doesn't want to hear it. At least, until enough people use the "cancel subscription" button, but by then it will be too late for this game.
Word of mouth is how a mature MMORPG gains new blood, and a poll run last week proved that their existing players are NOT going to pass on positive word of mouth.
Maybe that is the object.. Drive us all away, and start over with a new player base. If they think they will EVER be able to gain more than they will lose by pushing us out, they have another think coming.

As you all can see, now they are resorting to lying. When a game resorts to lying, bad things usually come to happen to that said game.

ok im just going to call this guy GEORGE.. cause thats about what he = too... do you devs filter the news he gets?? ok heres how mad i am about this im revoking 10 of my 12 accounts today...and to have the president of soe come out to say all the good feed back on testing, now that is just a joke.. not sure where he has been reading his nfo and it sure isnt the same place im reading my info...
im all up for combat rebalance but i dont ever think i heard before this about ppl wanting a SWG REVAMP..
now alot of you might say im the problem with the game, having 12 characters and all. but heres how i play the game. FOR FUN not to make uber ammounts of money each of them characters are different professions some for guild only use and 2 to make money, i bring in maybe 500k-1m a week for crafting professions and that is really mediocre to alot ofother ppl.. which i spend my money pretty much right away on stuff i need
im not to excited to becoming a beta tester once this hits live in the first place, the devs cant fix alot of the stuff thats wrong with the game to begin with, now they are going to implement basicly a whole new game? lol i see where this game is heading straight down the tubes... i was going to keep my characters active but seeing what the pres wrote and seeing how much out of touch the soe team is im hitting the cancel buttons today. and if you dont believe me here are the list of the characters i control and watch how many get canceled
nozak/kandary'/valkary/kozan/joobilee/loibek/bekloi/bloodclot/amenophis/lucif/memento'/kount all are on the bloodfin server..
thx to all the players in swg that have made this game fun.. i maybe back havent decided yet but i know im not paying my money to SOE to become a beta tester and thats exactly what is going to happen.. 1 month of testing before a major release?? ROFLMAO you devs have lost it i think
oh ya to all the ppl that post "well leave, cya" your not the only ppl that pay for this game altho yall may think you sit on thrones, you don't
pay no attention to typos and whatnot never was good at english class
thx everybody that made swg fun

I have decided to conduct an informal poll regarding the combat upgrade. Not sure how many responses I will get, so I will try to advertise here...
I will be compiling the data over the next week or so and post it as soon as I get a reasonable amount of feedback.
I am shouting:
"Do you like the combat upgrade? Holomail Starsider.Ritter with the answer "Yes" "No" or "What is the Combat Upgrade" in the subject line. Results will be posted on the forums. Those who respond will be rewarded with 1,000 credits. Thank you"
I ask for everyone's responses, and will try to deliver bank payments as soon as possible. Also, inform friends on other servers of this poll (they will not get paid though). The purpose is to find the attitudes of those who are not represented on the forums.
Thank you.

You're right, of course. It's just that they're so passive aggressive about this blatant Orwellian censorship that it's hard not to be as overt in response.
I'm quickly moving passed the 'enraged' phase and on to 'apathetic.'

I am too.
SOE ruined my Star Wars experience, but there are others. Such as D&D to anticipate.
I've always said that there are THREE can't miss MMORPG's:
D&D
Star Wars
Star Trek
Let's hope SOE doesn't get to ruin the other two.

SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT, SQUARE-ENIX AND BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE CROSS-OVER GAMING DEAL
- In an unprecedented merger of gaming assets, online gamers will be able to take their existing characters into new and exciting adventures in other gaming worlds.
SAN DIEGO, CA - March 31, 2005 - Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), Square-Enix (S-E) and Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard), the worldwide leaders in Massive Online gaming, have announced a joint venture where players of any of their games, including the enormously successful World of Warcraft, the granddaddy of online gaming Everquest, S-E's hugely successful online version of the Final Fantasy franchise, and the popular titles Everquest 2 and Star Wars Galaxies, can take their existing characters and move seamlessly into new gaming worlds. Through new technology developed jointly by all three companies, your character will be converted over to the rule set and graphical look of each new game as you transfer back and forth, opening up literally tens of thousands of new gaming possibilities for every player. Players of all these games will suddenly be confronted with not just new zones to play in, but entire new universes.
"We have been looking for ways to add more end game content to World of Warcraft, and this just seemed a natural fit" said Mike Morhaime, President of Blizzard Entertainment. "This gives our players instant access to a range and depth of content that would otherwise take us years to develop through our current schedule. Now you can simply pick up and walk into another universe and open up an entire set of new and unique content"
"The enormous success of World of Warcraft proves that there is a large market for online gaming" said John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment. "We decided that the best way to tap this market is to combine all of our assets into what is in effect one massive, massive-multiplayer game. By opening up more content and variety like this, our player base can only benefit and thrive."
The details of the agreement will be released in more details later. The current timeline calls for the merger to be completed by May 16th, in time for a complete demonstration at the Electronic Entertainment Expo held annually in Los Angeles. The companies have put together a transition team lead by venerable programmer Raph Koster of SOE that will finalize the details of the changes that will be needed in each game to make the transitions from game to game smooth and consistent. "Some things are going to have to change in each game to make this work" said Mr. Koster. "Expect each class in each game to get altered somewhat to allow them to fit into the new rule sets. We are excited about the possibilities of how this can improve the gaming structure of all our franchises."

Well that does it for me. This proves that this CU has nothing to do with the SWG community. This is to bring SWG inline with WoW, EQ1/2 and FFXI. This CU is not a fix, it is a copy/paste to satisfy Blizzard and Square-Enix. The testing going on right now will change nothing. Neither will any suggestions made by the SWG community. This "beta" testing is to fix bugs and that's all. Do not expect SOE to listen to you or change anything. My three accounts are cancelled effective, now.

Boy he couldn't have hit any futher from the mark. He just didn't miss the barn. He missed the whole darn planet.
I started this wonderfull game at launch. Well the day after seeing that the servers couldn't handle the load. I have adapted and re adapted to this game as changes were made. The CU is the final straw for me.
Back when I started I was a master artisian/scout 4-0-0-0/medic 4-4-0-0/master marksman and I still had sp's to spare. While the game wasn't easy, I could get around on my starter planet talus with little difficulty. Just had to watch out of wrixes, famished sludge panthers, rouge cor secs, and binyare pirates. And had to remember not to tick off torturs, humbabas, and greater sludge panthers. I could travel to other planets and do well. Some better than others obviously. And I did most of this by myself.
For one I couldn't solo as much as a decay mite with my starter template. My combat level wouldn't be high enough. Heck the kimas forced me to master carbineer. Rifles were too darn slow at marksman and pistols just couldn't deal enough damage so I took the middle ground. But the option to better myself in combat so I could keep myself from getting fragged while checking my harvesters was there. It sure isn't there on the TC now. My favorite weapon at the time, the almighty DH-17 snub, was nerfed into uselessness. Weaponsmiths can only use regular parts for those weapons on TC. I don't recall the DH-17 or many other "noob" weapons being game breaking but obviously someone thought they were. Warm up and cool down??? Might be fine for the death star example. But the death star was a man made planet that had one weapon that required insane amounts of power to shoot. So of course its going to take time to shoot. We are talking about a hand held device not something of gargantuan proportions. Whatever happend to my combat cue? Was handy to have. Now I don't stand a chance against anything two levels above me??? Heck under the old system I could at least wear the target down over time or do hit and run attacks and kill stuff that had a red con. Wasn't easy but it could be done (of course before buffs and armor). Of course I could never understand why I was killing myself performing actions in the first place. Armor was nice to have. Though no armor at all for a starting player is dumb. Thats just like not giving anyone a weapon to start out with. I agree with the certs but only to a very limited point. The PSG's that they talk about are only good for energy attacks so how is that going to help the crafter check his harvesters? The CU was a kick in the pants for alot of non com professions. Thats being nice.
I have my gripes about the CU. And there are some things I like. I never was able to figure out why a person could solo a krayt or NS elder or why the devs would allow for it. There has to be some things that a group must be required to take down. However I never could understand places like the corvette or DWB. I am having a hard time understanding why I need a group of 8 to take down a nuna, as it is on TC. This may be an MMORPG. But that stand for massively multi-player online role playing game. Nothing in the description to suggest that groups are manditory. I can understand the need to limit the amount of specials being spammed. But I can't understand why my weapons don't need to be reloaded either. HInt devs. I am unsatisfied with the CU for this reason above all others. It's not SWG. Just another clone of EQ.And because its not the game I pay for, and because you are heck bent for leather on pushing the CU live against a majority of the players, I had no choice but to cancel my subscription. Hopefully there are enough of us doing this to get the point across.
