Thread: =SOE DEVs !! Do we have to pay for JTL again ?=

I'm not upset that others can get what I paid for for free... I just believe that loyalty should offer some kind of compensation.
Anything... even just $5 off since you're a veteran subscriber (12 months or more... or even 18 months... what ever).

It's all just my opinion, but I've always believed that a company should reward their veteran customers.

I'm not complaining about value depreciation... I think that anyone with JTL should get a discount on the expansion.
At the least, people that have kept their accounts active since the beginning of this game should receive some kind of compensation.

I'm not going to sit here and complain about the enormous imbalance of this game that has been put off for over 1.5 years... only now to receive a revamp dedicated to it, but I just think in light of things such as this, it would be more beneficial to reward those loyal customers... as opposed to not rewarding them.

$24 is the price and they won't charge less... that's what it comes down to.

Sure, I completely understand that it all comes down to the "bottom line", but that does not change my dislike of it.

As I said, it's my opinion... you can call it foolish all you want to.

I'd rather hold my beliefs of rewarding those that are loyal to you... as idealistic as it may be.

So, again... E'Chu'Ta!

**Edit** Sifer2 said what I did, but more efficiently with much less words... Some of us just think it's odd to offer such a deal instead of offering the veteran customers a discount.
And we are allowed to voice our displeasure... no matter how capitalistically-immoral they may be.

"I bought the special edition for $80. I saw it the other day for $30. Should I cry and complain for a refund of the difference?"

I want to understand how you feel that means the same thing as what many are saying here. You bought the special edition for $80 two years ago and now you see it for $30. That's reasonable to me. It's been two years.

In this case JTL was released 6-7 months ago and they're already packaging the game with another update on the game.

So if you want to use the quoted analogy to try and match the 6-7 month depreciation you're welcome to try, but understand that you're comparing two unlike situations. It won't work.

To answer your questions:
  • When you purchase the digital download you will also receive the JTL content free and be able to access it. The digital download is on pre-order right now and after we go to regular orders JTL will still come free with the download.
  • For those of you that purchased JTL already you are paying to receive the EP3 content.

i have to admit.. this is a little irritating..
basically you only need to pay for every other expansion pack at this rate if you get them at a 2 for 1 speciall..
is there anyway i can return my JTL for a refund and but RotW and get it again?

You have to unplay all the months you played it first.

I swear you people are goofy. You don't use something for 8 months then complain you didn't get anything for it. You paid to play it then. If you wanted to wait, you would have not been able to play. How is that so difficult to comprehend?

I bought the special edition for $80. I saw it the other day for $30. Should I cry and complain for a refund of the difference?

*sigh*

I swear, if the people on these forums didn't have something to complain about for one day, the world would implode or something.

SoE always consolidates it expansions over time into the base package.

In EQ when Ruins of Kunark came out it was a seperate expansion. When Vellious came out later on the basic EQ set included RoK free.

That is part of it. Those who paid for JTL paid to get it 6 months earlier then new people buying the game.

It worked this way well before SWG in other games and will continue to long after people whine how they got jipped by playing it and paying for it 6 months before others.

Here's the whip...

Here's the dead horse...

Have at it...

You people are amazing... They did reward the veteran players! Didn't you all get the Yacht in JtL for playing over a year? Didn't you all also get the veteran rewards? I mean, come on. They had the words "veteran" and "rewards" right in the name. That's kind of a dead givaway that they are rewards for veterans.

Some people just need anything to complain about, aparrently.

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

What everyone is forgetting is this is SOFTWARE.... This is NOT a movie, a record, a CD, a DVD Player, or anything else like that...

This is SOFTWARE...

The ENTIRE Software Industry, with the exception of SOE has a UPGRADE POLICY... They update the software, they offer those that HAVE the software a discount on the upgrade...

As a retailler (I own NEW MOON COMICS in Wayne, NJ) - I'm all for making money - as a consumer, I'm all for saving it...

SOE is wrong from a business stanpoint, and a customer relations standpoint... Sorry.... You can NOT offer, for FREE a product that other MAY have JUST spent $20 for a few weeks ago, and then expect those same customers to pay for another update... and all this is - is an upgrade to the existing software...

If SOE said "RotW is $20" but JTL is required no one would have anything to complain about - I would not.... And I'd pay it (as I sadly already have pre-ordered it for2 of my 5 accounts) with no problems..

But you can't say "Hey, JTL owners, pay $20 for RothW but we're giving you nothing for the fact that you just (or even pre-ordered) JTL already - but we're including it free for those new to the game."

There should be an UPGRADE discount, pure and simple... this is NOT a movie, a toy, a car, a DVD player, or any item that has USAGE VALUE... This is SOFTWARE and should adhear to the policies that every respectiable Software Company follows...

And, if this occurs in OTHER MMO's.. Then people on those games should complain too....

There is NO anger here... So I don't need "anger management"... But I would like SOE to RESPECT it's customers - at least once.

Good post, with a lot of fair comment in it,i dont like the fact i have to pay for JTL again,so i cancelled my pre-order,it seems the only way to make SOE listen, just dont buy the products,i have had JTL since launch, its not that good IMO,not a flyer, but the no shuttle has come in handy.

But to expect people to pay for it again,is not good customer relations at all,and given the flack flying around about the CU you think SOE would at least try to soften customers up who already have JTL.

Anyway,just my 2 pennys worth.

All I really expected was a discount. I mean its one thing to give every new customerJTLS for free. But if someone already has a JTLS enabled account why not give them a discount? It makes perfect sense an encourages them to buy the new expansion because they see SOE did'nt forget them an still value thier bussiness. But no I guess I dont have a degree in bussiness it must be better to give your customers the shaft whenever possible.

I agree with you Sifer2, and the question to your answer will be NO SOE will not give us a discount that already have JTL, and personally I think its sad when SOE is pretty much bribing players to purchase ROTW by giving them JTL for free. But hey whome am I to say anything.

I support SWG the way it used to be before the NGE, before the CU.

*sigh*

You do realize that I have three accounts. I have JtL for all three accounts. I would purchase RotW for all three accounts for $25 whether it included JtL or not. I consider being able to PLAY JtL for the past 7 months adequate compensation for my purchase price. Basically what you are saying is that you want to punish people who didn't buy JtL from the start by making them pay more for the expansion than you. Look at it from the other direction, and that's basically what you are saying.

Besides.. there is also a difference between $50 over two years, and $5-15 over 7 months, right?

That's what you're talking about.

This is a common thing in the software industry and many other industries.

Some businesses use what are called loss leaders.

It's a promotion on a product that gets you into their store or to buy said product that then takes over on a psychological process of consumers purchasing additional products.

It also harkens to clearance sales or holiday sales or slow sales periods.

Come in now and buy your "whatever" and we'll throw in product "X" absolutely free !!

This whole issue is the glass is half full / half empty theory.

One feels they are paying for ROTW they're getting JTL for free.

One feels they are paying for ROTW and JTL, even if they don't need JTL.

How many companies that you've gave money to over the years reward you as a veteran customer ?

Sprint has never called me to offer me lower prices because I've forked it over to them for 28 years

neither has my gas company, electric company, water, insurance company. local grocery store, local department stores ect.....

For all those that see this is the glass half empty what do you feel is the fair market price for the ROTW expansion ?

Isn't the $24.95 about what new release expansions are going for ?

If you feel you're paying too much for the expansion then wait awhile and pay less.

If you think that ROTW is priced right then your getting a throw away JTL upgrade.

A new player who wants this all has to go buy SWG and ROTW.

The JTL "included" is the incentive for that target market to not feel overburdened with purchases to play SWG.

Many other businesses have products reduced in price or packaged with incentives after initial releases not just the software industry. Not just SOE.

Consumers that are on the hook or those that "have to have" newest latestusually pay the premium prices.

Do you also see it unfair that in 6-9 months a personcould go buy SWG and ROTW for about $30 total ?

That's how much less than veterans that paid premium for SWG, JTL and ROTW ? $70 - $100 less

I wanna a save in rotw, or i wanna give back my jtl and buy rotw now for the same price.
This is not right
jtl 30 dollars
rotw 30 dollars and come with jtl?
rotw should be 60 dollars not 30.
