Thread: Here is a PM I Sent to TH & JustG and TH's Response...

A few posts have been deleted from this one this morning...
Jeeze.......even the Commando forum and its posters are getting tee'd up by the nerf bat
Thunderheart & JustG (since it has been said that you lurk, I'm putting faith in the assumption that you will no doubt see it):
The main reason why the game of "Tic-Tac-Toe" was brought into existance in this world was to teach humanity a simple lesson of futility. I'm beginning to think MMORPGs were made simply to reinforce the point....
Using positivity whenspeaking of this game goes beyond candy coating the issues, as the obviousness of itbeing an incomplete game cannot be denied. We can go over the Commando problems all day long, we can make sure that those problems come dipped in chocolatesentences andsmothered incherry flavored punctuation sauce, but we'd be wasting our time; you already know about the problems within our profession and you know that the problems of the game overshadow the problems of any one specific profession within. What becomes of the Commando profession will become of it; that isn't much of a concern in the context of this communication. But consider this: upon reaching Master whatever, what will you do with your in-game time? Nothing in this game outside of the profession provides any reason for the profession itself to exist. Sure, we are one of five professions needed to take a base down, but consider; what effect does that have on the rest of the game world? No impact, whatsoever. So why bother? And this is not the root of the problem, but merely a symptom...
When four people get together to playa game of hearts, the objective of the overall game, each hand, and each round of play are pretty clear and intertwined; it makes the game interesting. Strategy rests in the cards you pass and thecards you play. This game provides no objective. Sure, we can PvP all day and all night; what is the end result? Lots of clone center use, weapon decay, trash talk, etc. Nothing you could consider as a worthy objective. We can build bases, fortify them to all hell, but what for? So the opposite faction has a nice neat faction farm to leech? We can PvE all day, do all these EQ-like quests from various EQ-like NPCs, we can camp POIs and uber loot (just like in EQ), we can run mission after mission and over and over, but none of these can be considered objectives can they? Corpse camping, kill stealing, etc..? Is this fun? And yet, another "dungeon" is coming into the game and like every other "dungeon", it too will be camped to all hell. Can such concepts be considered objectives worthy of accomplishing? Or is this like candy; empty calories?
But before you go thinking of a worthy objective to implement, you had better clean up the bug infested mess that will be the code base for such implemented objectives. You don't want to think up some great concept, implement it, and have egg on your face cause the "force ass slide" bug ruins some buggy LOS check that prevents Luke's torpedoes from penetrating that exhaust port that gave him a "You cannot see this object" when he tried to target it, causing the director to yell CUT and start complaining about "lag" on the set, do you?
The time has come for you people to stop concerning yourselves with adding more "content" to the game and concentrate on making the game itself play smoother than a baby's ass and crispier than charred bacon.. It needs to be crisp; none of this hit the button and the flame shoots out 5 seconds later. The player needs complete control of the character; none of this shifting of stances when standing or sitting unless it is by player command. The fat needs to be trimmed from the game. The unnecessary graphical absurdities need to go. The response of the controls needs to be tenfold as sharp. The ability for the player to turn off all projectile graphics would be a big bonus; I don't particularly care to see my framerate go to absolute crud when using the Launcher Pistol. The little things that can make the game run smoothly need to be put in and the same little things that take away from the smoothness need to be removed, especially if said little thing has no bearing on anything other than EYE CANDY. The GROUND needs to be able to OBSTRUCT LINE OF SIGHT. I see tons and tons of "moods" and "emotes" that one can do; I see nowhere near as many persistant objectives to be accomplished, held, defended, etc. Don't ask for a detailed list; the amount of items would be staggering and depressing. Dare I ask the question of how long Carbineers had to suffer with "Carbinier"?
Realize that we all want to see the game succeed as you do. Realize that when speaking of it, keeping a positive tone is nowhere near as easy as you make it out to be, considering the vast number of problems of various nature that can be found in a game that requires a monthly feein conjunction with where you've taken it over the last few months...

The original post is nothing BUT negativity. There is nothing positive about the original post it is nothing but a negative, vicious swipe at TH.
Hence any response to the original post will always perpetuate this thread's negativity.
Hence the reason why moderators lock threads started by trolls.
Is the original poster actually our correspondent? Shame.

You have 81 leftover skillpoints to spend to compete.

And don't get me started on the fact that I can compete very nicely against a TKM or Rifleman.

That's fewer skill points than the majority of other combat professions have left and they are more effective in combat than I am. And of course you can compete against TKMs and Riflemen. You're a TKM yourself.
And when I say PVP, I don't mean simple duels among your friends. I mean the large scale GCW wars with 80% composite armour and insane defenses. We're supposed to be the profession that is designed to take those enemies out. Yet we're the last that anyone looks at to do that job.
We're the profession that's designed to take out heavy armor vehicles, heavy turrets and other heavy armaments.
No other profession can take out heavy armor ordnance with as much ease as a commando can.

Are you sure that you're talking about AT-STs, Turrents, Composite wearers and not creatures?
As far as I'm concerned, commando (scratch that, not commando, grenadeer) is great in PVE. It's PVP that's the issue here.
Nice post Garvin. Thanks for summing up a lot of what we are feeling. If telling someone something they don't want to hear is being negative then I guess we are given the option of being silent or telling sugar coated lies.
TH is a jerk. He is a failed experiment of taking a power user and giving him a job. He can't handle it and they need to get someone who can. The posts and letters confirm the gut feelingI've had all along...that SOE is doing what they want and then spinning it thinking us fools. I appreciate the honesty that JustG seems to interject into the situation but I'm tired of the "handling" we get from TH.
How can they seriously keep telling us that the combat revamp is going to balance everything....they haven't gotten any balance issues right yet. I'm convinced that they are balancing the same way people play whack-a-mole. Whenever they see something pop up as uber or good...they smack it back down. Its a lot easier to hit that one mole than to try and get all the broken professions fixed. The combat rebalance will have "unbalanced" features as any major revamp does and the players will find/use those withing hours/days of the patch...and whack-a-mole will commence from their. The DEVs work won't be done until we are all beat down and equally broken. I'm convinced...Commando is a good example of that, as was CH before that, as will be Rifleman/CM/TKA next is my guess.

"We're", hmmmmmm. Seems to me when you use that word it implies your are a Commando currently (doubt you ever were). Your pretty busy, trolling the CH forums then you stop by here. Since I know you cant possibly have enough skill points to be Teras, Bio-Eng, CH, and Commando.....I think you should stop implying you know everything when in its pretty obvious you have no clue.
Back to your argument, I guess Commando shouldn't play in the other 99% of the content in this game since all they can do is take out heavy armored machinery.
