So if the particle beam cannon is x2xx and lvl 22. Does that mean if im x2xx and lvl 19 i cant use it?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, that's exactly what that means. That's what it means, but it would currently be considered a bug if that happens. You should report any instances where a weapon calls for a level and a skillbox that you can't wield when you get that skillbox.
yay for the best Dev!
Ok, good because there are rifles that are doing this (DXR-6b for one). Good to hear.

Well, don't all Commando tier 1 weapons fall under this? They're all Level 22, and you should be Level 17 at your first tier 1 Commando box if you take nothing but the prereqs, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm still more than a little confused about the whole level progression requirements, personally. What exactly ARE the criteria to gain in CL?
EDIT: Actually ALL tier I box weapons across the board are CL22. That's not good.....

Don't let them know, or they'll drag him away or worse yet fire him for caring about the players and communicating. Sadly, it wouldn't be the first time ![]()

I honestly don't see this as a bug... maybe it is, but it doesn't "have" to be classified as a bug. I could see this simply being the way the system is setup. Sometimes you get a weapon cert before you're skilled enough to use the weapon. And in order to become skilled enough to use it, you'd have to learn your profession a bit more (hence, get your combat rating up). It's not unheard of in other games.
Are other professions going to have the same type of cert system? I loathe the idea that a Pistoleer can use a rifle just as well as a rifleman...

That doesn't sound like a bug to me - it should be x AND y, not x OR y, in my opinion at least!
You say "currently" though Helios...does that mean "currently the way it's setup it's a bug, but it should be this other way eventually?"
That is good to hear. Thanks Helios for the info.

It means that that's what we're shooting for at this moment in time, but it might change depending on at least 500 variables I don't know about yet. And if it does change, I don't want you to hold a plasma flamer to my face for telling you something wrong (even though it was the most up to date info at the timeI wrote the message).
That's what "currently" means 95% of the time I say it. Currently, anyway.

StarrNick,
I'm not convinced of your arguments here. Neither am I sold on the previous ides for Commando in the CU. Someone stop me if I'm wrong, but I think everyone would like to know exactly what SOE plans to give us Commandos who have waited all this time, and know have nothing but a name. Everything has been taken from us. What sets us apart from other professions? Nothing. Absolutely nothing at all.
I have to disagree with this statement completely and utterly...We are unlike ANY other combat profession...in fact, I'll go as far as to say, the CU plans for Commando makes us BETTER and more EFFICIENT then ANY other Combat profession....Honestly, other combat professions will take a look at how our weapons work, and likely want to have similiar weapons post-CU.
Think about it...We can take ANY special, especially ranged specials, and make them BETTER! We can take a special like Last Ditch, up it's damage level, covert it to AOE and add a status effect or DoT. We can take even Basic level specials, make them more powerfu, convert them to an AOE attack and add status effects or DoT. So basically, we take any other profession we dabble and make them better.
What other profession can take another combat professions specials and "enhance" them beyond maybe tweaking the damage or speed levels.
We also have our Grenades which not only no longer damage the user, have a better AOE, and evencooler, have status effects attached. The stack size of these have also been increased (we don't know the final number yet though).
And then there is our Consumable Beam weapons...wait a minute...We no longer have ANY Consumable Beam weapons...all of them are Non-Consumable now...
Throw in the fact that we also have higher defenses, a KD Counter, more speed, more accuracy, RANGED weapons (not just 16m), a Melee weaponand a reason for using everyone of our weapons and this just keeps sounding better to me. And then you take into consideration that any other combat profession that we dabble adds to our speed, accuracy and gives us more specials we can use with our weapons and it just keeps getting better. And lastly, throw in the fact that our weapons will be "box restricted" meaning that only Commandos can use them, and we truely are totally unique. You have to BE a Commando to be a Commando....
And then, as if it couldn't get any better, they up and reduce our pre-req costs allowing us the ability to dabble even more into our Commando templates...Merry Freaking Christmas to Us!
So I ask...how can you say we are getting nothing via the CU or even ask "what sets us apart from other professions"? We are the only profession with built in specials that take everyone elses cool tricks and makes them our own...
