After some testing here are my results:
Without Pet/Healing, With Buffs/Armour( 50% Chitin ) (HAM at 1700/1800/1000)
Dewback: Win (1200/1600/1000)- CH Pet White Con
Mountain Dewback: Win (600/1000/800)- CH Pet White Con
Grizzled Dewback: Loss Incap to Health- Wild Yellow Con
Shollow Torton: Win Hardly no HAM loss White Con
Ravenous Torton: Win/Near Loss (200/400/300) Red Con
To the challenge of Baz Nitch I couldnt find one on Dath but:
With healing I was able to take out a Bolma mission without the use of a pet.
Bolma Females
Alpha Bolma Male
And the little tike Bolma's

Let me clarify why I am posting this so it doesnt get blown out of proportion like it did yetsterday.
-In no way do I want to have to rely on my pet to enter combat
-Tactics that I post, is what I am doing and hopefully will help Commando's in this tough time.
-I would encourage everyone while hunting to wear Armour. Chitin Being the best bang for your buck for PvE
-I am not posting this as a balance issue for I am still undecided, this is just ways to get by.
Fury, people say kreetles, but they say this simply to illustrate a point, I suppose. They almost certainly mean overkreetles with swarmlings, etc.
I tend to agree with the side that the 2.5x damage is a very bad thing, must go, and is fairly ludicrous, but claiming that a commando worth his salt was killed by plain kreetles is not only stupid, but damaging to the arguments in the support of our side... because of how unbelievable it is.
One thing that, even post-patch, does not make me shake in my jackboots, is a spawn of kreetles just outside noobville.

I don't know, Fury...
Your math seems right, but something is broken with it, or the game perhaps. I took a hit from a greater desert womp rat (just one, I was already brunning away from an accidental aggro with some mt. squills), and my HAM bar fell almost halfway. Sure enough, in the combat log, I took 497 damage from that one incidental hit. And I do have the best armor I can find: Full composite, lowest resists at 45%, highest 59%(the vagaries of slicing).
So....

A commando caught off guard with no armour, by a swarm of kreetles and one overkreetle, due to lag or the game popping it right on top of you, that commando will die.
However, I have read at least 10 posts of a commando being killed by a Nuna.Ifthat is true then they deserve to die, and are not using all the skills that they have avaliable.

One could be the "Armour Hole" or that it hit in one of the suits less effective spots. Plus I was guessing for the base damage. I need to contact my CH buddy and ask him in his datapad what different MOBs hit for to calculate best.
I would go out and buy a suit of Chitin for PvE, you are just wasting your money using the composite for anything other than PvP. Adv Chitin with kinetic layer will get you around 50% kinetic.

you need to be wearing an armor suit of 250% protection to overcome the 2.5x nerf. This armor does not exist.
You will still die in roughly the same amount hits with and without armor.
Lets do it with a easy #
100dmg with 50% armour pre patch
100/2=50 ( AP0 - AR1 )
50*50%=25 ( 50% kinetic damge absorbed )
100dmg with 50% armour post patch
100*2.5 = 250
250/2 = 125
125*50% = 62.5
100 dmg with 80% armour post patch
100*2.5 = 250
250/2 = 125
125*80% = 25
so no you would not need 250% armour you would need 80%.
Simple, do it without the Pet. Show us that commandos don't NEED pets to survive. This might have almost been humorous after probots got nerfed and before non-CH pets were introduced. Remember SWG's design goal. Intended for casual gamers. Don't need groups to be successful.
The damage modifier needs to go, on ALL ranged weaps.
Here's a question. Why not make the melee modifier 10x instead of 2.5x? Why not make it 100x? I mean hell, you've got a pet so there should be nothing wrong with that.
short comment. . . . .Buy a FIKU FWG5 for your melee. Yeah it sucks that you aren't getting the HW exp. but you don't die. I have my pistol shift F4 and my FT F5 it's so easy to just switch really quick. and YOU DON"T DIE against Rebel N00b NPC's.
A) Fiku is/was on bria
B) There was considerable evidence against him exploiting the factories for produce large amounts of krayt weapons of which caused me to never buy any of his weapons.
Some more math on armour
20% Kinetic armour will negate the 2.5x melee penalty
100 * 2.5 = 250
250 / 2 = 125
125 * 20% = 100
500 * 2.5 = 1250
1250 / 2 = 625
625 * 20% = 500
Actually, Maybe this should be the start of a new thread... but...
I wear full composite armor, due to bugs there are holes. Fine. (not really, but assuming, then, I am wearing no armor, since this particular attack hit a hole)
I was in combat with a grand wrix. Said grand wrix hit me, while holding a flamethrower. According to my datapad, my grand wrix can do max, 220 damage. Thus, 220*2.5=550.
Assuming, then, AR light, 550*1.25=687.5
AR medium? 687.5*1.25=859.375<--- This math may be in error... it could be: 550*1.5=825
Now I don't think a grand wrix would have AR medium, or especially not AR heavy... Maybe this shows my ignorance... is there an easy way to find this out?
But assuming it had AR medium, the max damage it could have done to me, counting as unarmored, was 859.
I took 978, in my combat window.
How???
It has seemed to me that, even for 2.5x, sometimes I take ludicrously high amounts of damage, and, rarely, fairly low damage.
Is this 2.5x as badly bugged as everything else?
