Commando!!! You can do tons of damage, and have more skill points left over than a Bounty Hunter.

I am getting ready to finish up Novice Marksman and Novice Scout. I am unsure as to which route to go as far as Bounty Hunter or Commando. ANy input on the pros and cons of each would be appreciated.

Do understand that the inv line for the BH can take quite a while so in terms of time taken to master the profession, BH will take longer than commando.

Definitely.

If I had to categorize BHs and Commandos, I would say good BHs tend to be patient, thinking fighters who put a lot of preparation and strategy into a fight, and who don't mind taking a few weeks to do investigation.

Commandos on the other hand seem to mainly be firebugs with a Rambo philosophy on battle.

Yeah I am more of the "lets just kill everything we see" Why do you say that it takes alot of strategy to be a BH? Is there PVP?

Both professions work well with other professions in combat. While both have been modifed since release you can still get some fun out of both of them.

The big pro for Bounty Hunters is the interaction with Jedi (aka hunting them), well... once the terminal is fixed. The con is its not as great in pvp as other professions such as rifleman or combat medic.

Commando is pretty good in pve for taking out turrets, or as Rebel, hitting the "all powerful" ATST. Its con would be its later nerfs that limited its direct pvp abilities against players.

In all, Bounter Hunter mixed with some other profession (like pistoleer), makes a good playable profession in my opinion.

I've done both and liked Commando way better than BH - especially since you have more skillpoints left which I spent to dabble in CH and medic.Using a pet withKd/dizzyto tank and incinerate the targets when they are occupied with you pet is plain fun... Then again I almost exclusively do PvE - you won't stand a chance in PvP with that template...

BH does have PvP in so far as we can hunt Jedi, Player Jedi.

That aside, the tactics comes into the fact that all our marks are different. Normally I get within a 100m or so of my target and slowly move in for a look at him. It's not too unusual to have a mark with 80% resists to most of your weapons - as I've discovered onsome occasions.

Ok - you can buff yourself to the eyeballs and go in all guns blazing and probably make a go of the fight, but once you get past Investigation 0 you also have to track your mark and try to predict where he'll be.

If you want gung-ho "watch the monster burn while screaming with joy" fighting, you need to be a Commando

from what I remember when I was a BH way long ago, if you unequiped your weapons and armor, and then got BH missions for level one, you dont have to worry about doing it the hard way, but then again, most "true" BHs will hate you for going that route.
