Don't listen to what these people are saying, go commando FOR SURE. Because of this commando "nerf" i can do 10k+ damage at only flamethrowers 3! Master commando, and you can eat bounty hunters for breakfast.

Yea, Rebarty is right...Commando is no the best in PvP where as Bounty Hunter has Eye Shot which, as ive heard, PWNS. Its better to mic, if u get Commando, with another profession,such as, im a Commando but im also a rifleman and medic....so on

I am a Commando, yes we are not the best PvP..well unless you take something else with it. I can walk up to after I heathshot1 with my launcher pistol to 3 Rancor then Flamecone3, move, then hit the 1 those that survive with Flamesingle2 down come nasty Rancor. It is up to you, PvE commando is great. PvP mixed skills or friends help.

As a BH (and a high level one) i recommend it, just dont think you will be that uber, there are currently much better templates for the skill points that you spend to get to BH. And i reccoment you buy some armour as we get no def.

There are a lot of problems with both professions. The problem with BH right now is that they aren't really that great at PVP as they should be, because of all the defense stacking out there. Rifleman/TKA can kill everything including Bounty Hunters easier than cake. I would say Commando for PVE and Bounty Hunter for PVP, because commando's flame DOT can cause havoc for a huge group, while Bounty Hunter specials are great for 1 vs 1 fighting.

I've done both...recently...Commando is the way to go. I keep hearing about how its nerfed and broke...no way, good armor, maybe a pet...a flamer...life is good. You will always be asked to get into the action. The good commando have already figured a waqy around the nerfs and are laughing at each one that leaves the profession. They are buying some really good weapons cheap.

This is totally untrue. You know I am a true Bounty Hunter, or was, and would probably stop at nothing to get a kill on a Jedi ( except killing a guildmate ). Bounty Hunter is underpowered, which is why I and plenty other gave it up.We are not really bounty hunters. We are "firekd before the person gets a shot off and pray they actually fall down becuase they normally dont" fighters. We have no defense. Wait, I take that back, we have the same defense as a master dancer... my bad.


The only way BH is good is if coupled with master gunfighter.

It is true what was poster above. BH is nothing compared to most combat classes. TKAs, Rifleman, and many other professions can lay waste to BHs, because they do not have better attacks then any other profession, have much less defense (2 melee and 24 ranged) than other professions, and wastes all the skill points but 31 at the end after getting master BH. There are BHs that are going BH 4/0/0/0 and master rifleman, because it is easier to PVP that way lol. BHs are weak right now and most BHs are hoping that publish 7 will give them some love. BHers are much less powerful than other professions, unlike what most ofthe rest of the SWGcommunity thinks.

You guys are all suckers Somebody necro'd this post, it's from back in August. At the time, my statement was VERY true. They hadn't nerfed PvP damage yet so anybody could kill anybody with HeadShot2. Also, this was much before the Commando fix that gave them some decent weapons. So yes, now my previous statement is completely obsolete and listen to what these guys have to say about it. I haven't been a Commando since November so I can't say much about their current situation and I've never been a BH but my friends that are are about 50/50 on it.

I try to keep up with Commando as I really liked it. Currently their problems seem to be this, but drop by their forum and ask them personally:



  • The Heavy Acid Rifle (HAR) is fairly useless. It doesn't do as much damage over time as hardly any other weapon.

  • You will hit yourself more often with your grenades than the opponent.

  • Lack of diversity. The HAR tree and flamethrower tree are nearly identical but the flamethrower is much more powerful because of its "flame" effect that will cause damage and wounds over time.Also, at novice Commando, you are given the certification for the Launcher Pistol, a pistol that does Blast damage. However, you are given no pistol skills to use it with outside of the ones you gained as a Marksman.

  • The Heavy Support Weapons are a little bland and difficult for Weaponsmiths to make so they are never in great demand.

  • The Unarmed requirement for Commando is totally unused. No Commando skill requires you to be unarmed and thus it is often viewed as irrelevant, though some would like to institute a few Unarmed skills in there.

Hope I did a good job representing them. There hasn't been a State of the Profession since December, so it's a bit outdated and I haven't been following it too closely since November, but I do think these are common complaints among them.
