Thread: Commando or Bounty Hunter
I have killed many master Bh on the kettemoore server. It's all how you play your character.

Last night I was in Theed cantina waiting for the one hour timer to go covert, healing mind and looking over the combat logs. Must have been in there 30 minutes, getting bored, getting soft and started drifting. On my second machine, a laptop, I had the forums open. This is how I didn't notice the Rebel Master Commando and his friend the Expert BH/Master Pistoleer rolling up in the Cantina.
The Master Commando gets up next to me and hits me for Flame Single 2. I hear the combat music and jump to life. Hit the Muon Gold and Tat Sunburns in my tool bar and laydown a quick Sprayshot + Fire KD to the Commando. I notice his mind bar is extremely small, so I switch to Scatter and hit Eyeshot till he went down. The Pistoleer was also hitting me with Eyeshot, I think, it happened fast. I'm circle strafing to throw off their accuracy (I assume the Commando will stand at any second) and the graphic glitch kicks in. Now I can't target the Pistoleer and am spinning among stars.
As I finish a circle of one strafe I am back in the cantina with the Commando in from of me, I still have him targeted and tried to do /death (he's incapped now) but I did the dead man walking thing, the flame DOT got me, and ended up in the corner incapped. I don't know what the Pistoleer was doing, I thing tagging a dancer or something. A couple covert poor on heals but I'm on fire and have 75% wounds already. So I plop quickly twice and die from three incaps.
I clone, buy wound packs from bazaar, get healed, go overt, go back and run into the Cantina first targeting the Pistoleer. Spray Shot twice and Fire KD (which failed) but he's blind with no armor. A couple regular shoots and one more spray incaps him. The Commando was already back on his feet and hit me with FS2 again, but his mind is super low and I one shot him with Eyeshot. Death blowed 'em both and make for the river because I'm on fire again. I got a guy healing me along the way but incap twice, then the fire went out before the third incap.
Go back to the med center, heal, back to Cantina.
30 minutes later or so they come back. The city was a bit peeved since they flamed some entertainers and had 3 AT STs out. The two come back, see the trouble and run away. They are heading for shuttle C, across the bridge with a bunch of imps in chase. I burst run ahead, targeting the Pistoleer once more. Fire KD (failed) Spray, Eyeshot spam down. I'm bursting at full speed so the Commando is just hitting me with the launcher. I turn the eyeshot spam on him as his Mind bar was significantly smaller that Action or Health.
Commando incaps, I DB, someone else DB'd the Pistoleer.
Both players had small mind bars and obviously didn't use Muon Gold or had any other buffs. Only the Commando had armor. Additionally they went into the Cantina to waste entertainers in a city filled with overts all over. So I wouldn't exactly say they were good PvPers.
A more seasoned Commando has handed me my ass a couple times. Depends on the players, the bufss, equipment, where you are fighting as well as skills.
BH hands down, given players of equal skill.
all BH has to do is run and stay 20m away from commando and the commando is dead. he can only shoot BH back with marksman specials and weapons. A commando of equal skill would try to get inside 16m to flame..but he wont be able to.
The above poster showed a close quarters fight with a commando.. frankly hes the first person ever that i see that has survived a shot of flamesingle. in PvP ive hit people with full composite and theyve gone down instantly. Heck in a faction base fight i was flameconing inside the building like crazy, imps dropping like mad and cursing commando uberness because they were too stupid to huddle together in a closed room.
That was quite possibly the longest sentence I have ever seen. I mean that one sentence wasone paragraph in and of itself.
yeah - it friggin pwns!

A Commando is a better support player than a solo player compared to a BH. That is if you are ONLY a Master Commando. Sure, we deal alot of damage and have many heavy weapons / grenades to choose from, but as it is right now commandos are more a anti-tank support class. Being a soldier, as I regard the commando is about teamwork and doing your part in the greater good for all team-members.
A Bounty Hunter has no team, he is alone and that is the general purpose of his profession. MBH also spends alot more skillpoints in achieving Mastery which would and should further add to his survival abilities.
I have played both, never mastered Commando though.....working on that.
In PURE PvP, like a duel or one on one faction? BH is the favorite, in my experience.
In PvP with 10 people scrambling and running arounf firing at each other. I would say Commando has an edge, only in as much as he can "blend" with the crowd long enough to lay a Cone and hurt multiple targets, and the Single 2 a particular adversary......Just how I see it laying out..![]()
I myself have done alot of dueling, and being a commando. I'd say BH.Commando's best bet is to get close. But a BH has the skills to easily keep that from happening with fire knockdowns and confusion shots. Putting you to the ground and dizzy so your not always going to be able to jump right back up. Once he has you down he can easly more to a safer distance or use LLC for added damage. A commandos special heavy weapons would have to come into play here (RL, HBPC) but those are not going to hit everytime. A commando can still win a good amount for fights, but 1on1's are more for the BH.
I still prefer Commando, but I do think its easier for a Bounty Hunter to own 1on1. Commando I feel is better for support. BH eyeshot is nice, but with a good helment it barely does 50 points damage. The one I have has over 80% acid... its quickly made the bh's that notice change there attack, but not manydo sincealot(not all)live off eyeshot.
Too many variables to decide on a comparison that vague...
Vague in that the Master Commando still has 81 points left over after training Master, while the BH only has 33. The skills trained beyond Master would no doubt have a great effect on things...
well i been a master commando for 60 days now and i picked up a few ticks frist makesure they don't know your a commando that way they might get close if they know who you are use building and wait for them to stip up i fought a expert BH and won hem in the open i did because i had trickshot in pistolteer that helped then i use bastrun to flame hem and thats how i bet a expert BH and oh yea get good armour and use spice remeber they can wase your mind
