Thread: E-Web...An Interesting Idea to discuss...

your not wrong at all Garvin
what i was just pointing out is this:
if you DO make it a joint effort.......then you need to put limitations on the weapon for each class using it individually. That way you say"This is a squad support weapon. SL's cna use it, COmmandos can use it. Neither Can use it at maximum effectiveness alone. TO get the full beef outta it oyuve got to have the SL and Commando working together"
If you want it to be a joint-venture and a squad weapon then id say go with what your saying.....when SL and COmmando are together the Eweb gets accuracy and speed (or damage) modifiers.
Perhaps an even better idea would be to disallow commandos using specials on it UNLESS theres an SL nearby. So an SL and a commando can both use it at base stats speed/damage as individuals or if grouped together the commando will have specials "unlocked" to use on the E-web. If you wanted to limit it make it only cert'd to Master Commandos and Master SL's to prevent dabbling.
It should be a pretty powerful weapon as well with both classes combined....it is after all a crewed heavy weapon. Some of the guys suggesting it require master may be correct.
and again ill say if the Devs decide to make this JUST a commando weapon then hey do whatever. But if it is indeed going to be a "squad support" weapon (as it logically should....plus just for th eunique and cool factor) then you need to limit what each prof can do with it individually, and increase the potential when the profs are combined; that way there is motivation and purpose to actually group and use it
In my original discussions with DiLune we proposed giving all or most of the skill mods for speed and accuracy to SL's but giving them no specials (so no high level damage capability)...and in turn, giving little or no speed and accuracy skill mods to Commandos but giving us the specials for higher damage...This would create the Limitation I think you are refering too...To get the full potential out of this weapon, Commandos and SL's would need to group together (the only way for a Commando to get speed and accuracy for this weapon)....
Sure, both professions would be able to use the weapon solo, but they wouldn't be very good with them...they'd be better off using other weapons for solo purposes...We'd have better speed and accuracy with our RLs for example, so why would we use the the E-Web solo...we'd seek out an SL to give us better Accuracy and Speed on the E-Web.

I had a long post typed up and accidentally deleted it. Bah. I can't be bothered retyping it, except to say that it is perfectly possible to Master Commando and get 4/0/0/4 Scout, and any one line of Squad Leader. If the E-Web mods aren't in the Master box, then you can have an Uber E-web gunner template.
He would only be an E-Web Gunner, though. I personally would not see a probem there.
But if it is perceived as a Problme, you can simply spread the Mods through all 4 skill trees of the SL to prevent dabbling.
And for the one that says, "Why do SLs need an E-Web?", here my answer: "Every heard of the 60 Gunner?"

I had a long message written in response but decided against it. I will just end it with my main concern. More and more of our basic abilities are being transfered to other professions. This one being heavy weapons. We are THE heavy weapons specialist. Bar none and end of story. We are master marksman and have a heavy weapons line. I just dont like the idea that another one of our unique abilities are getting transfered to another profession.

115 If this is how you feal about how SL and Commandos are sapose to be the war tech or what ever and you are going to make us feal more like Sl and that we belong together then I want our poitns lowered so we have 115 points after mastering Commando like SL and not 81.
That way we might share more cuz we can dabble more. But for what we spend we should be the ones with HW no one else!
I think your the first person that actually agree with the fact that we spend our points to be heavy weapon specialists. We dont get to dabble as much as other profs, therefore we absolutely need a specializtion and a reason for being a commando. I guess heavy weapons is not one of them.
By the way some of you are acting - what is next, lets go take that LLC away from BH's since WE are the only ones who shouldhave HW since WE spend so many sp?
I am not looking to start a flame war or anything (as I respect many of you on this board) but one of the biggest problems in this game is that everyone is so worried about their prof that they can't see anything else.
Take the TK's (I am a MTK by the way) they go rabid when anyone talks about how they are overpowered and yet there are a couple threads on their board on why they should be able to do some kung fu dance and heal their own BF - **edit**?
I think that our fearless leader is looking to build some support for us from another prof that is broken but getting fixed. I for one think this is a good thing and will help us in the short run and in the long run.

yes youa re the heavy weapons specialists
but you are missign..or purposely ignoring....the fact the Eweb is NOT a SINGLE MAN WEAPON. It is a CREWED weapon. This idea was brought out to provide groups wiht a big punch of a support weapon.....but you cant very well give commandos a weapon just for them that significantly outclasses everyone else without hearing whining fromt he other communities.
It is a crewed, squad support, weapon. Not lil tommies toter weapon.
The devs can easily give COmmandos another weapon for their own or fix soem of your current heavy weaponry.....but this idea has always been suggested as a joint effort and pretty powerful accompaniement to a squad. Your correspondant and the marksman correspondant are the ones who brought it to the table and suggeste di coem out as a joint venture weapon.
The uniqueness, cool-factor, and probable power of this weapon makes this a readily received idea. You commando's are smarting because you havnt had much going on for oyu and you see this as an affront to your esteem. But being selfish wont make up for that. This idea has huge amounts of potential and has been liked by pretty much everyone ive talked to......the idea of having a squad support weapon crwed by a team and requiring teamwork is quite envigorating for a change.
