Thread: E-Web...An Interesting Idea to discuss...

I dont like the idea of sharing the weapon cert for a couple of reasons. The first being we are already a weak solo profession, thus an extra dependacy is not a good route to take. Secondly, SL are not required to be proficient with a gun before getting novice like commandos save the combat line if I recall. We have to get master marksman and unarmed before getting novice, and then we have an entire line dedicated to heavy weapons. We are now going to give another profession a heavy weapon just because? I dont think so. Our mentality should not be, "We will get it by hook or crook." We have been waiting for fixes of our current heavy weapons and a new one for quite a while. Right now we are useful for our heavy weapons for blast, RLs, and things that have low resist to flame and I for one dont want to shareone of the only things that woulddefine us as a profession. And this should definetely be a Master Commando only weapon; not just HW4.

I think the idea sounds very nice. Something like this would realy add to the gameing.

Tic Nibor | Jovy Rellno | Inyra D'Forge & Li'wyn Daine

E-Web is a great idea, just a few detials that need to be worked out. I think it should be equiped, like any other weapon, but carried on your back while packed up, depending on how big they are. When they are needed to be deployed, u wil have a command to deploy, seeting it up in a tripod stance, in a certain amount of time, emots and everything for setting it up.

Thats pretty much how I feel. There is no reason for the SLs to get a heavy weapon. It just doesnt make any sense and makes us just that much more undesirable and unique.

It actually does make sense if you allow it to. Commando and SL are the only technically military trained professions. The E-Web role an SL would fill is light suppression. He isn't a bunker buster, that's not his training. The commando would fill the heavy damage bunker busting role. But he's focused mostly on heavy weapons and assults, not light squad supporting roles. Together they make an awesome crew and are more than twice as good as they would be on their own. Both can still use the E-web without the other (to avoid dead SP if a commando or SL is not easily at hand.)

I had a long post typed up and accidentally deleted it. Bah. I can't be bothered retyping it, except to say that it is perfectly possible to Master Commando and get 4/0/0/4 Scout, and any one line of Squad Leader. If the E-Web mods aren't in the Master box, then you can have an Uber E-web gunner template.

the point was, good sit, to create a unique and powerful weapon with a niche of its own. Something above and beyond but a little more complex.

I dont wanna flame you but you just dont plop an ultra uber toy into your lap just because your profession is borked and then say hey go solo stuff now.

Garvin and DiLune fromw hat I have gathered rounde dup this old idea and got it in order to create somehting special.

and ill repeat the E-Web is NOT a SOLO weapon. In episode 5 it took like 3 ST's to set up the E-web (i do believe that was an eweb they pulled out to stop Han Solo from leaving the Echo base). It is a CREW weapon....not a "commando go tote your guna round" weapon.

That is the spirit to what Garvin and DiLune were trying to bring forth. I realize that Commando needs a lot of work......but lets not start getting into a "I want this toy all for me and im not sharing!" attitude. From it's inception I think this idea has always been considered as a crew-type weapon and a joint venture between both SL's and COmmandos. It would certainly be unique and certainly be extremely cool if it were added to the game within the context of a squad support weapon.

So long as it's viable without needing a SL present (yetit wouldfunction infinitely better with one) a symbiotic arrangement as the afformentioned accuracy/special deal would be more than justified.

Those are great ideas...maybe have the Squad Leader become a more common profession, and not just a rare find anymore.

your not wrong at all Garvin

what i was just pointing out is this:

if you DO make it a joint effort.......then you need to put limitations on the weapon for each class using it individually. That way you say"This is a squad support weapon. SL's cna use it, COmmandos can use it. Neither Can use it at maximum effectiveness alone. TO get the full beef outta it oyuve got to have the SL and Commando working together"

If you want it to be a joint-venture and a squad weapon then id say go with what your saying.....when SL and COmmando are together the Eweb gets accuracy and speed (or damage) modifiers.

Perhaps an even better idea would be to disallow commandos using specials on it UNLESS theres an SL nearby. So an SL and a commando can both use it at base stats speed/damage as individuals or if grouped together the commando will have specials "unlocked" to use on the E-web. If you wanted to limit it make it only cert'd to Master Commandos and Master SL's to prevent dabbling.

It should be a pretty powerful weapon as well with both classes combined....it is after all a crewed heavy weapon. Some of the guys suggesting it require master may be correct.

and again ill say if the Devs decide to make this JUST a commando weapon then hey do whatever. But if it is indeed going to be a "squad support" weapon (as it logically should....plus just for th eunique and cool factor) then you need to limit what each prof can do with it individually, and increase the potential when the profs are combined; that way there is motivation and purpose to actually group and use it

i also wanna thank Garvin for bringing this up again and moving on it.

LordS brought it up before......and it had been brought up slightly long ago on the SL forums i remember. But i think this is the first time steps have been taken forward with the issue
