I think the amount of buffing commandos is greater then doctors wielding flamethrowers if you get that at all? One must keep in mind the XP he is pursuing. If he goes to the doctor forum simply because he is using a lot doctor skills they will flame him more since it's not a strategy for Medical XP =)

He's obviously not pursuing commando exp either, still waiting to hear how his lvl 25+ mission went as a pure commando. I'm sure master docs would love to hear all about his tactics for PvE.

start easy.

go to talus, fight a tortur bull. remember, just doctor buffs and flamethrower, no other skills, no pets. You can use any commando or commando prerequisites.

Given your doctor buff, id say you may solo 1 tortur bull every 3 to5 minutes. No healing yourself after each fight, make believe you are a master commando that got a buff from a doctor friend. see how long it takes you to kill a nest. Then see if that was worth the meager 3k or 4k creds you got paid for it.

Then move up the ladder.

Try giant baz nitches in dathomir. I doubt you will solo those. Or the new creatures they put in missions that replaced the giant baz nitchs (i forget the name).

Note your flamer's durability before and after each nest you successfully 'solo' (i believe you will only be able to solo the tortur nests since they only spawn1 bull at a time most of the times..the other torturs die easy). Using overcharge2 and other special attacks (which you will end up spamming) have destroyed one of my flamers in 1 day. A 30k flamer, sliced for damage, brokeapart helping memake around 20k in cash. (tortur missions 3 to 4k if you lucky). And all because about 80% of the shots i spammed MISSED outright because i was RUNNING (and flamer has no to-hit bonus when running).

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

Ok...someonecorrect me if I'm wrong on my terminology...but it seems to me Fury has his terminology wrong here...and that's what's causing the issue from the first post...

You say you have no problem "soloing" creatures...but you admit you use a pet...By my understanding you are not "soloing" anything..."soloing" means you fight alone...What's the difference if I fight in a group of 3 other players or me and 3 pets...either way is not going "SOLO"...you are relying on a first line of defense...a smart tatic that more Commando's are now relying on heavily thanks to the patch...but the idea is that we shouldn't have to rely on that crutch...

Do everything you mentioned in your first post without using your pet...then you'll truely be going "solo"...and you'll fee the post-patch pain...

no disrepect or flame intended but he's not a commando not even close imo

maybe the thread title should be challenge to dabblers? not commando's or masters

With that strategy what XP is he pursuing? And why would you subject him to "pure commando" conditions? You have medic and CH skills as well? I know that dabblers do better due to lack of Master bonuses but that's the problem with lots of classes. In fact, if you're not crafting something, it has diminishing returns

As for "soloing", different people have different opinions. I see soloing as being able to wake up at 3 in the morning and kill the exact same thing you can any other time. Basically, I see soloing as just the person behing the computer controlled. Others see it as "just your avatar". When combined with the ratio of reg. gamers to RPers I'm surprised how many people consider the latter definition of soloing to be soloing.

I have a fish for a pet but when people ask me how many live in my apartment I say "Just me". Make sense?

if i were not a doctor I would still have med skills so I will heal myself.

and here is the strategy i would use to meet your standards

equipment I have to start:

scout blaster
FT
Composite Armour : 66-78%kinetic
VK'ers

moves I will use

with scout equiped I will open up with bleed
switch to FT and Flamesingle2
switch to Scout warning shot all that aggroed me
Heal
suppress fire, if hits
switch to FT and try for Flamesingle1
switch to scout or VK

guessing around 300 damage from torton

so thats 750
x50% AP0-AR1 = 375
lets just say 65% kinetic (depends where it hits) = 131 damage.

my HAM will be around
2.3health
2.3action
1-2kmind (depends if i get dancer buff)

meaning it would take 18 hits for him to bring me down, thats 36 seconds. And that is IF I kept my FT equiped the entire time ( which I will not)

I could do 1 Flamesingle2 and one Bleed, take 3 hits at 131-200dmg then heal, equip VKers then damage will drop to 53

am I wrong?

That's the beauty of it, they might just. But how many of those people who include their cat/dog also include their fish, mice, heck even the cockroaches or ants. It all depends on where you draw the line. I draw it to include everyone I have direct control over, which is me. Alot of people have different "soloing" definition and Chaser's matches mine.

I would say he's done with exp and is persuing faction/credits since he only has 1 skill point left. I never said I wasn't a dabbler but I also haven't been trying to "suggest" aka force my template onto master commandos by pretending it's advice and then flaming them when they refuse it. You can bet your bottom credit that when the rest of commando is worth having i'll have it. So if he wants to come onto these boards and make suggestions based on what a master commando experiences then he should experience it first hand. Until he does that he's just another medic with a flamethrower, not that he'll admit to anything if he does try it. If the masters that are left wanted to give up their skills for medic, ch, doctor skills they would have done it already. So why come here saying that the modifier isn't so bad when he's not the one getting hit and if he does it's his buffs and healing abilities that win the day and not commando skills? The folks with the buffs and medic skills are in the doctor forum /shrug.

maybe i've misunderstood but i thought you were comparing rl pets with ingame pets and if so you do have direct control over your pet ingame you sat attack it attacks you say stay it stays etc.

but like you said opinions are different.

I see your point Mere but he has Doctor skills to cast the buffs simply. He could just as easily go to a doc and pay 4-6k for the buffs. He then utilizes those buffs to help take down his prey. Him being doctor relies more on convienence to cast the buffs, like a Commando/Weaponsmith making his own weapons (bad example but you get the idea). He simply uses the buffs just as easily as he utilizes his weapon. Now, under this understanding, should he also post this XP gaining strategy in the Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Artisan, CH, and Doctor forums?
