Well one thing to note...Kel's fairly vague. Notice comparably leveled weapon, doesn't mean ALL weapons...but some weapons. Dev's are usually vague and need some prodding and multiple answers to get the entire story out (but hey, they're human...take this thread for example, it always takes multiple responses to get a grasp of the full scope of things)
Patch notes should be coming up soon

So, if I got it right, it's to eliminate the 'We can't level BH because we have no carbine certs at Novice' and similar problems by letting you use, for example, a Novice Carbineer carbine instead of the CDEF?
(Oh my, how I hate this 'level' talk...

Well just thought about something... with the CL based weapon certs to help speeding up grinding. This still doesn't solve the problem of if a new player with say Rifles IV and just starting on Unarmed I getting crap xp since there are no certs that low in the tree... They will still get crap xp if they don't know to do unarmed first and then just used the advanced rifles.

Well if this is the case though, it is actually better for new players as if they get UA IV first, they can then use a E11 to grind to Carbines IV for example... much better dps so won't be quite as painful as having to start with a CDEF with a higher combat level. Just sucks to be someone who did UA last in the commando/smuggler grind.

Nah, what I meantwas, if you had of done UA IV before Rifles, you could have used the Rifles IV rifle to grind rifles I-IV to make it easier with your higher combat level. Either way now if you are grinding UA IV, it will be a little rougher if you are solo. Best advice is to grab a group

Well I gave this a try and waited I'm standing now at the frog and here we go.
A DE-10 requires master Pistoleer however a plasma FT requires combat level 54 and nothing else.
Proton grenades lvel 54 no cert
All commando weapons are no certs including the proton rifle which is lvl 54 no certs. So you can use evry weapon from the LP to a proton grenade and not have single commando box. So much for the wonderful Cu I was priasing and defending it until tonight. This official makes commando a utility and not a true proffession. All the waiting and hard work to get no weapon certs and no specials.
