Well...im posting up a storm here with talking points on respec system, damage modifiers and the such. Im pretty sure the time limit on doing respec is a few weeks...
Btw, a trend with weapons Im seeing...know how specials get "improved" versions and so on? Well...
Improved LP? Why make an improved LP? I mean, physically, a pistol that shoots rockets is... impractical at best...
Ditto, I still wanted a launcher carbine/rifle to replace it. The look is what bugs me.... yes I am a very stylish commando.

Hehe...we'll have to see when TC-Ep3 comes back up again. If the Proton Rifle is "commando" and tied to Master Commando rather than being generic...we got a very VERY good chance that it'll take Hvy Weapon Mods.
At least, I hope so. If it doesn't, then it shouldn't be tied to Master Commando. If it isn't anyways, we can still have access to it (although technically riflemen would then sorta be getting it back...), but we wouldn't be gimped where we wouldn't have a non-AoE weapon since we'll have a LP to rely on. Unless of course...the LP still takes Pistol Mods despite being tied to us...heh...
Again we'll have to see...I don't wanna confuse you guys any further, as I don't know any details beyond that really
Edit: Btw Sil...I already got it confirmed that Hvy Weapons, our weapons...will be tied to commando skills.

Well, yeah, now that it is not the same as the pre-cu one... I guess that works better... good point

1. A new system will be brought in making weapons certed by level rather than proffession.
So if we get no Commando Specials and now most our weapons are being taken away from us and anyone at a certain level will be able to get them, what will be the us of the Commando Profession?
2. Respec will be based novice box for novice box and elite for elite making those unneeded marksman lines wasted grinding.
This welll .......(insert you own#%$@ word)
Let's face it: The devs have sucked since day one. They screwed over probably the most important thing that's ever come to this game this badly.
I've completely lost any faith in the devs, other than Helios.

This what bothers me so bad. Our weapons make us who we are but now you can get your hands on our weapns without even dabbling in the proffession. So no unique moves and now no truly unique weapons unless we get an advanced version of something everyone else can use.

I'm really confused because what the devs said seems to make where a cert appears meanigless as everyone will have access to it? Am I missing something? if certs are tied to combat level than a master Bh would have access to all commando weapons ...right? The only excption in the HOC chat was for siome quest based weapons.

Ok...I may be bordering close to breaking something, but...keep in mind, combat levels are not the -only- thing that matters in weapon certs. Its simply the first layer. For some weapons its the only thing that matters. For more iconic weapons, its that and skill-related. And so on.
I can assure you all that our weapons will be commando specific...and that we also were tricky to balance as a result (hehe)
Wait for TC-Ep3 to come up before jumping to conclusions that we'll be losing specific certs
And yes...I think Im starting to talk in circles....dang thread's too fast for me!

Uhm.... huh?!!?
I'm really really confused by this level/profession cert thing. After making armor completely dependant on your profession certs, now they are changing weapons to not be? What is happening here?

Join the club. As usually SOE doesn't seem to communicate very well and spoke of a major change to weapons certs with very little details and broad "glib" statements. I'm going to starnick's advice and wait but man that threw me for a loop.

"The new weapon certification system should also help alleviate this problem. Once you have leveled to a certain point with a given profession you will be able to use a comparably leveled weapon from another profession. You would not be nearly as powerful as the same level player from that profession but it will help greatly in earning experience for the new profession."
Well one thing to note...Kel's fairly vague. Notice comparably leveled weapon, doesn't mean ALL weapons...but some weapons. Dev's are usually vague and need some prodding and multiple answers to get the entire story out (but hey, they're human...take this thread for example, it always takes multiple responses to get a grasp of the full scope of things)
Patch notes should be coming up soon
