Thread: Keep me Updated about AoE
I took a look at how my Proton Rifle was doing, wasn't able to get AoE even when mobs were nearly ontop of each other. Be sure to put timestamp on and review your combat spam after testing, you might be mistaking AoE for regular old aggro (if you're close enough buddies around your target will spot you and aggro).
I know for a fact that the post-pub-19 Proton Rifles are NOT AoE. Maybe the post-pub-20 ones are AoE again...
On an unrelated note, I wonder if I should change my CM4000/Pist0404/Comm0403/M.Smuggler template to CM4000/M.Comm/M.Smuggler again.... hmmmm. Stopping Shot seems kinda like a weak concussion shot, but then again it doesn't break on damage.... and my damage would be better... hmmmm
To clarify my statement that it is AoE, I should note that it is AoE with apparently the same rules as the LBC, but it doesn't have any elemental damage. So, the primary target gets full damage, while everything in a 6m radius (actually, it seems to me that the radius is at least a little larger than 6m for both the LBC and PR) gets 1 energy damage.
I think that my perspective, and probably the same view is held by most commandos, is that:
A higher damage, single-target Proton Rifle > current damage range, full-6m-AoE Proton Rifle > what we've got now.
I hope the devs see it that way too, but who knows, lol.
I finally got a PFT made today...not a single bit of AoE thats worth saying anything about. This fix may have never even gone in for all we know...but since some folks have been getting it to work then to only lose it (and not during server resets it seems) then something's working in the code apparently, but not for very long heh.
You know, considering how important this is supposed to be to commando (according to what they've said anyways), I find it a bit disconcerting that the devs have yet to make even let out a peep on this aside from, "well, it should be working..."
I'm beginning to get rather miffed that ever since the CU the devs have said next to zip about anything. There was all that public communication, then zip. It makes no sense at all. Think they're restruturing the team again or something?
Anyways, since it's workingness seems to bea time-based thing, maybe it's something internal testing wont pick up, rather something that's tied to Live servers maybe?
I'd recomend you guys go and ask commando stuff there big time, we might get some answers.

Post-publish or pre-publish?
AoE is starting to really irk me now...it seems it cant be fixed, and when it does work...its either 100% or 44% AoE, which seems to like loop between different weapons =/

I've just looked at my own combat spam with an LBC, and I've realized that that would be some pretty hefty elemental damage to account for those numbers alone.
In my test, I hit the primary target for 816 (647 energy and 169 elemental), and all following hits were for 170 (1 energy and 169 elemental). So, maybe there actually was some energy applied to the full AoE in that test!

brilliant soe, you officially fail at games.
I had a post-publish FT built, and have yet gotten it to work
I tested it out and my LBC is doing 100% and PFT is around 40% damage to enemies within the aoe of the target.
I noticed something was strange when I was doing this quest and small groups of weak NPCs I was fighting with my LBC were all dying at once when I finished off the first target.
Is it working now? Could it just be for a short while after a server reset that it works?
