I was using my LBC last night while doing a quest, i noticed other enemy's around my main target were taking like 1/5 of the dmg i was dealing to the main target per shot. After reading a few comments so far in this thread i can assume it was elemantal dmg + 1 for the AOE.

here is my experiance with AOE..
I have a pre-CU plasma, post-CU plasma (about pub 18, i think) and a brand new plasma...
I get the same thing with all 3.
full dmg to target, and elemental dmg +1 to AE targets that are hit.
The Area that the new plasma effects seems to e much smaller than the other 2.

I wish a dev would at least say SOMETHING. I hate being kept in the dark.

Yeah same results with me. My proton rifles are still doing AOEs though. But since they dont have elemental damage at all of any sort for what ever reason (Whene very other weapon appears to) it only does 1 point of damage. period. But it does do AOE when you can get NPCs close enough. I had to run out to nyms and start blazing away in the corridors to get em close enough. But it was registering at least.
This make me very sad
Sad bothan not a happy bothan

Rocket launchers arn't doing any aoe at all. They are single target only now (all my rocket launcher are per CU ) . Pistoleer special fan shot doesn't work with heavy weapons. My proton riffle is al so doing 1 damage for aoe.

I thought that the rocket launcher was supposed to be a single target weapon since the CU. I am not defending the wisdom of this decision --I was just the way the weapon was supposed to function.

Well that makes 3 non-AoE weapons so far...I just wished we actually saw an advanced CL 54 rocket launcher that was pretty dang powerful like the proton rifle (in damage). Unenhanced, most plasma flamethrowers (good ones that have low HAM) come within 100 damage points of the proton rifle. Pistols generally unenhanced go up to the hight 700's, carbines the hight 800's, and rifles the hight 900's (with our Plasma FT just a bit lower in the mid 900's). Since the PFT does AoE, it would make perfect sense to have a non-AoE heavy weapon that unenhanced comes out in the mid to high 1000's, and have a 1200-1250 damage cap.
That and along with specials would be two key components to really get the profession to where it needs to be in terms of role. But, I guess its baby steps first...with the Rocket Launcher now single target...we're getting there...

Hmm. But is it really non AOE? All mine still say 6m blast radius. Just like the proton rifles. And I have a post 20 proton rifle now too. And they BOTH do AOE. They usually dont agro more than one NPC because most of them tend to be more than 6m appart. But in close quarters the AOE is -definately- there.

Only the pre-patch Proton Rifles have been reported having AoE, on the one I looted post-patch...never aggroed, never did area states, nada nothing...just single target bliss. You sure you're using a post-patch because unfortunately you can't tell pre-patch :/
My theory on the matter is that all our weapons were originally intended AoE, and thus Heavy Weapons be considered an "AoE" class...why all our weapons - even if they dont do AoE - have the 6 meter radius. Like the weapon hinderances...

The strange thing is that my old Proton Rifle and RL both say 6m radius when examined, but post-publish 20 the proton rifle is now AoE (pretty sure it wasn't before) and the RL is *not* AoE (and I'm pretty sure it was before). Especially curious considering that one might say that it makes much more sense for the RL to be AoE and the PR to be single target.
