Thread: 100% Heat Resist still getting 1440 damage a tick fire damage, fix it.
I would think rifle DOT's or Carbine DOT's are the most used.... seeing as though...
"every 3rd person in SWG is a Bounty Hunter..."
oh you mean like those weak mindshot2 dots, or the combat medic mind poison? Is it hard living with your obvious mental retardation? I pity you.

And to those commandos saying that I shouldn't post here since its something to do with all dots let me clue you in on something else. No other dot is as powerful or as deadly/non-curable(directly relating to all other dots and their ability to be cured by the medic/doctor lines, not the fact that you need water to put it out) so since you are dishing out the 80% of the dots in the game atm and the said dots are quite overpowered, this thread deserves to be here.
Its really not that big a deal. Yourpets will never be"anti-commando" even without DOT damage. We have other weapons besides the flamethrower.
For example, Grand Wrix is 100% heat resistant, but is 0% vs. acid (heavy acid rifle).

sooooooooo in other words your 100% heat resistant pet can sayyyyyy fly through the earths core, fly through a rangeing forest fire, fly into the heart and through the heart of the sun.... man you should rent him out to the firefighters, he would be really handy! listen you brain dead freak of nature. Fire and Heat are 2 very diffrent things, you can have Heat without Fire but you can't have Fire without Heat. You can make a Fire thats 3000 degrees at its core but room temp 2 feet away. You can have 8000000000 degrees heat without a single flame in sight. Your Mynock may be able to stand the heat but he cannot and I repeat canNOT live through haveing liquid fire sprayed on his freaking body got it? Napalm burns EVERYTHING. It melts steel it turns diamonds to goo it destroys AT STs it can burn your pathetic pets. NOTHING in ANY world is 100% immune to FIRE (NOT HEAT! FIRE YOU STUPID IGNORANAMOUS) Fire isn't breathable, its not matter, its not liquid, its not gas, its energy, energy which is a base ingrediant in every planet formed, in every suns source of heat and light, in every corner of the universe. NOTHING is immune to this cosmic force. And no theres no such thing as magma monsters on the planet murcury. This mynock may be able to live in a volcano cave, so long as he doesnt go for a swim in the magma.
Amen, Amen, Allauleha Amen, Physics to the rescue....
Except that you can't apply physics to a video game based in a fantasy universe.
And I agree with NJ's post - the 100% heat resist on the Creature, in game terms, should mean exactly what it says it does.
The initial argument of this thread is valid. A bit harsh but valid. Please note that all bleeds do this. Meaning if the flame DOT were to take into account resistances, then all bleeds should also. So you really don't need to post here. It is more of a global profession issue.
for what its worth,
News flash, you gun doesn't deal Magma damage or Napalm damage.
It deals HEAT DAMAGE! Go ahead, examine it. It's damage it HEAT, end of story.
And why can't something be invulnerable to certain types of damage? There's a reason i have 5 diff guns on me, because on endor/lok etc. they have people and creatures that are IMMUNE to certain blasts from my gun, why should flamethrower be any different?
he is suggesting they shouldnt catch fire. He is right... resistances should factor into dots possibly. Not really sure, never counted numbers on dots.
But its for all dots, diseases etc... they all go through resistances and do full dmg to everything. Just again flamethrower highlights that problem now, just like it highlights the TEF problem.

Half of you are oblivous to the content in my posts. So let me spell it out for you and type in caps so you'll read it.
I have a better idea. Try to present your ideas in a civil manner, without all of the name calling, insults and presumptuous "clueing us in." How many times have you called complete strangers (that you don't know from Adam) power gamers, ignorant, elite, etc.? Well, SY... let me "clue you in" - half of us are not oblivious to your content. We are simply ignoring it.

I AM NOT ASKING FOR MY 100% HEAT IMMUNE PET TO BE IMMUNE TO FLAMETHROWERS IN EVERY WAY/SHAPE/FORM.
That said, I'm simply asking for my pet to somewhat utilize that HIGH heat resistance against the flame dots(1-2.5k per tic is way too high for something immune to heat)
First, you do not have a "100% HEAT IMMUNE PET." You have a pet with 100% heat resistance. So what you are asking for is to have your pets resistances apply to the "burn" DOT effect, aswell as the standard damage effect, correct? But you don't want it to negate the "burn" DOT completely? Why not? You have already implied thatthe regular damage and the "burn" damage should both be consideredHEAT. Yet you only want your pets 100% resistance to somewhat apply to the DOT damage? Have you made up your mind yet?

To all you commandos saying that since your gun is some napalm dispenser let me clue YOU in. The way damage is working in this game is it is divided into certain segments(Energy, heat, acid, kinetic, stun, blast etc. etc.) Your gun is a *HEAT* damage gun thus making your damage *HEAT* damage. End of story.
You are conveniently omitting one very significant damage type: Damage Over Time. When a rifleman blows a hole in your head, and you start to bleed to death - do you think it isenergy damage that is slowlykilling you? You can inflict DOTs with numerous energy, laser, kenetic, etc., weapons, but that damage type is not the same as the standard damage done by that same weapon. So, yes... the flamethrower is a HEAT weapon, and it does HEAT damage. But let me clue YOU in: It can also inflict DOTs. End of story.

No other DOT is as deadly as the one produced by the flamethrower? Perhaps, but I know some combat medics that might disagree. As for commandos dishing out 80% of the DOTs in the game - uh huh. Sure. Not even close. You are saying there are 80% more commandos than there are all other combat classes (with DOTs) combined? Right. Or maybe you are saying there are 80% more flamethrowers in use than all other pistols, rifles, carbines combined? No, that can't be it. Maybe you are implying that flamethrowers are shooting out DOTs 80% faster than pistols, etc. <chuckle>
SY - If you have an issue with the way DOTs are handled in relation to pet resistances, armor resistances, medical and food buff resistances, etc., then you really should take it to the Dev or General boards. If you are just looking for a place to whine about Creature Handlers not being the flavor of the month uber-class, then feel free to continue posting here.

Which is the purpose of these posts.
So lets behave and talk realisticly here and not take getting incapped personal.
Perhaps if he had said, or at least asked, if the DOT s were or were not working with resists as intended. But no, he comes into the commando board acting as if the flamethrower needs a nerf. Should his pet be 100% resist to the flame DOT? If the DEVs see that it fits the creature's natural ability then fine. Or maybe it will take only a fraction of the DOT. But that change deals with ajusting the Creature's RESIST to the DOT, not the flamethrower's power.
Personally, I think they should create a "I just got owned by XXXXX profession, Please nerf it" Forum.
But fact is, your going to get owned sometimes, so are your pets. It's happened to me several times, and will happen many more. You should try getting blinded, dizzy, knockdowned, then DB'ed in less than 20 secs by a BH. Sure it sucks and it pisses ya off, but then you may get the drop on someone. What i've learned is, if i see a commando whip out a flame thrower I get as far from him as possible.
As for the original poster, calling people ignorant for not agreeing with you is ignorant in itself. Or at least expect to get flamed a little for posting a thread in a proffesion's fourms that suggests a nerf to them.
The problem would seem to be with your pet's resist and how it interacts with the DOT, not with this class or the power of the weapon that inflicted it.
reading through the last few posts, i realized how much what some of you typed made me not care at all about this thread. sure, fire should hurt a little. it probably shouldn't kill something that's immune to it. fine. whatever. argue about it till you're blue in the face and you've lost control of the actualargument you were trying to make.i don't care anymore. what i do care about are the people i'm playing this game with, and it saddens me that people can't havea conversation about a problem without resorting to petty immature name calling and bickering. most people in MMOs respect each other as gamers and players and can debate and converse about different topics like regular adult human beings. it's obvious by these posts that many of you can't handle that. it's a game, guys. there's bugs. there's always bugs. things happen in the game and posts that other people make that can make you angry. what classifies you after that is what you do about it. i applaud the few of you who posted logical arguments to a problem that in the long run, is just a problem; just a game. i'm glad to see that there are still a few people out there who play games in the name of having a good time, and understand that what they're doing is playing games, and i hope you're character's on lowca.
Can someone post me some background on were is says flamethrowers do Magma damage or Napalm damage.
The stat screen says heat.
