Thread: 81 Skill points and you Still Cry For Defences :|

I've only been a master Commando for about a week and a half now, but I think I have a valid point to throw in on this discussion, and it's a very simple point.

A commando should not be required to master another skill simply for defense so he can participate in pvp and still be efficient. That's just wrong.

I agree Commando needs some fixes. But I don't think Commando should ever be good in pvp. If they were to make Commando a pvp profession they would have to lower our damage. Commando is meant as a support role. While someone else tanks or draws fire the Commando sits back and deals heavy damage. This is why alot of people think the Particle beam cannons, rocket launchers, etc are useless. They are not using them correctly....they are heavy SUPPORT weapons.

Support or no, there are other professions right now that are better at the role. Even if I say back and fired my RLs all day long without getting into the mix of things, a rifleman WILL outdamage with their version of the RL known as the T21.

I'm sorry, I don't buy it. I don't use 169 SP to be a SUPPORT character when people can spend far less than that and not be considered a support character.

Thank you for pointing that out... Now let me point something out to you.

The Commando Trees are as follows:

  • Field Tactics (Grenades) - Grenadier

  • Heavy Support Weapons - Demolitionist

  • Flamethrower - Shock Trooper

  • Heavy Acid Rifle - Heavy Infantry

Do the bolded titles sound like support roles to you? Just because one of our trees pertains to weapons that should function best in supporting roles, it does not mean that Commandos should be some measly support class.

Tell me something why do people keep saying we are a SUPPORT profession when we have to master marksman and have the unarmed tree as well. Commando is a pure combat profession. CMs are a support profession. Geez, some people just don't realize.

Here is my problem...

I used to be:

Master Smuggler

Master Pistoleer

0/3/0/4 TKA

1/0/0/0 Medic

0/0/1/0 Scout

I could solo Rancors (Other things to, but this is my example)

They hardly touched me and i could take one down in about 10 seconds

Now I am:

Master Smuggler

Master Commando

0/0/1/0 Scout

Rancors eat me up, it takes me far longer to kill one and they do me loads of damage

I have now spent more SP on combat and yet am worse at it... How does this make sence?

I don't want defences, I want toughness, to work against melee at least twice as well asunarmed toughness and ranged to work at least as well as unarmed currently does.

I can almost gaurantee that when the prof was originally designed they said "Super high damage, super low def"

If you want higher def, then expect lower damage to balance it out.

i agree. but the problem is were considered a range prof. lunge2 20m har and ft 16m and we get 2.5 to hit against us.

so we either need proper defenses or some kind of actual range oh yeah isnt the max range on grenades 20m to?

and before the patch a cm could throw for more then 4x this

Thats fine by me, when we going to get super high damage then?

If i could do more than twice the damage of any other profession then i would happily accept the low defences, as it stands we can be out damaged by several other professions with better defences.
