Yeah well that is good and all, but where is the high damage? Also, we are stuck in a catch 22 with no balance. We are forced into melee range to use our specials but no way to defend ourselves. Who cares if you can do a ton of damage when you die after your first shot. That, in my opinion, does not seem fair at all.

Hello all my fellow commando's. I've been a commando for about 3 months and i love it..But like you i find a few things disturbing..I'm on the wanderhome server on corellia just out side of Ocean Veiw there is a rebel base that is under attack 24/7..I go there all the time to defend for the joy of taking down AT-ST's...I have discovered tho that i can do more damage using my republic blaster..I find this very upsetting..Does any one know if they are planing on revambing commando or are we just going to have to live with it..

Let's see.....Unarmed IV requirement AND specials that are only good within 16m (which means the target is going to close to melee range). Hmmmm.....and we should NOT have any melee def? AND I should have to master another totally separate profession in order to be on par with other combat professions?
I see no logic in this train of thought.

A good point on the range issue.
On the issue of damage, I speak purely on a shot for shot basis, not a damage per second basis. In my opinion its a strange comparison, if a commando were to match damage output of a swordsman or tka. You would just have to make the weapons and specials identical stat wise. Its a sliding scale right, slide down the damage slide up the speed.
That doesnt necessarily mean I think that the damage / speed ratio between classes is balanced though. :-/
Quick Question - Is everyone speaking mostly of 1 on 1 PVP, Group fighting PVP or PVE?
I assume 1 on 1 PVP is the main area of discussion / frustration.
Personally, with my Commando defenses I am not foolish enough to go into 1 on 1 PVP so I dont experience TOOOO many annoying defeats.
But I do agree, its quite bothersome knowing your dead as soon as another player is trained on you and less than 30m away.
Its still a sticky situation though, I dont think that simply adding defenses isnt the right answer.
