Thread: IS it TRUE they are NERF'n FIRE?

Just shut up and go away. Threatening to report you to a CSR could be interpreted as a death threat?
THAT is trolling.
(Not to mention spamming a topic with completely irrelevant information that degrades the respect that everyone has for us.)
Honestly, why did you even post that? If you seriously took that as a death threat I'm pretty darn sure you would contact the devs and keep the information private (unless you're a moron) you little weasel.

No one, under any circumstances, may issue threats or harrassment of any kind towards another member of this community.
Any type of threat is intolerable. His post here threatening me was ambiguous. His PM threat to me was even more ambiguous and scary. I reported him to a CSR and he should be banned. If SOE doesn't act and I end up dead somewhere by his hands, then SOE could be held responsible.

Finally a rational, polite, intelligent voice.
Although I respectfully disagree, andbelieve that the "balancing" of the flamethrower DOT coming in the next publish will be good for the profession, I do think if all the people flaming me would address their concerns just as you had so eloquently, then maybe a good discussion will come about that could sway both parts of this controversy.
Do you agree that a large majority of commando weapons/skills are not working properly/bugged and need fixing?
99.9% ofMaster commando's agree. And contrary to popular belief we do NOT want to be uber PvP machines of death. When thefirst BIG commando fix came through (the current dmg of flamthrower) Not many commando's complained about our lack of defenses. Andwhen some of us did the developers told us time and time again that "thelack of defenses for commandos is a compromise for the highdamage you do."While that might have been true and applicable 4 months ago, it is not anymore.
This is my argument:
I argue that not one commando would be "up in arms" about this change to the flamthrower DOT if the other non functioning portions of commando skills were fixed. Think about it....we would be so pleased to have the H.A.R. fixed that we would happily accept the compromise to our flame DOT. If the launcher pistol was given one or two specials, plus some accuracy/ speed mods. You used to be a master commando right? So obviously you know that the "launcher pistol" is the only weapon in the game thata playerrecieves a cert for at "novice" level but never recives ANY mods or specials that apply to that weapon from that profession.
I accept the high miss rate and the expensive price of heavy weapons......it's worth it.
I accept the "changes" to the flamethrower as I will reserve judement on them until I see it in gameplay for myself
I accept the fact that commandos have very little defense. For those that want defense, there are skill points remaining to dabble.
But what I will never accept is that the developers will (without any input from the commando correspondent) "tweak" the ONE working weapon in the commando professions and leave theother broken portions ofcommando for us to deal with. How hard would it be for them to have the HAR properly stack accurasy and speed mods?
1: HAR is broken
2: Launcher is broken
3: Grenades are broken
I am saying the devs shoudl fix that....THEN talk about "tweaking" the flamethrower.
That is the honest heart of the matter

Wow I leave commando for a few months and it has degenerated to this.... Well there were trolls before so I guess I shouldnt be suprised by more trolls saying the same thing just a different person.
Speaking from experience the HWP is a great weapon very nice damage amount but truely way to expensive.
Rocket Launchers are decent to an extent but when paying 2-5k per shot most people save them for atst's. What imperials do with there rocket lauchers I have no idea.
Grenades they have the most promising use for a commando but because you cant even throw them past there blast radius they are pretty much useless unless you want to get combat xp.
Launcher Pistol great weapon if you are anything but a commando. Smugglers and Pistoleers love this gun. Being a straight commando you have no use for the weapon except to create lag or if you do what I used to shoot it as much as possible to blind other people from seeing you and run away.
Heavy Acid Rifle what is there to say about this weapon. In a group hunting rancors its a decent gun because the rest of the group can take punishment while you take advantage of the low acid resist. The mod's do not stack so using it as a novice is just as good as using it as Master. I would be if it ever gets fixed riflemen will love the gun just as pistoleers and smugglers love the LP.
Now for the flame thrower. People may disagree with this assesment they may not but its only opinion. DOTS should not stack for anyone combat medics pistoleers riflemen or anything the highest damage attack you do should be the one that stays. As a doctor I cant stack buffs well there is a way but its cheating and you get your account suspended for using it so its a mute point anyway. Armour should offer some protection against the dot because as a post said people do wear fire resistant clothing. Creatures that have resist to flame should also be resistant because its a natural armour there are no holes in hide for the jellied flame to seep into.
Now for anyone that doesnt have resist to heat a flame thrower should roast them in one shot or the dot should kill them. Its plain and simple if you have no resist to kinetic damage a TKA should wipe the floor with you same for every other attack.
Now for the upside to this, I see most people have armour that is resistant to kinetic because they are afraid of TKA's and such. Not many people truely fear a commando just see us asan inconvenience so for awhile at least not much will change.
Ex Master Commando Tempest comming back home to the only proffesion worth playing.

Fact: The time in between specials is determined by the speed of your weapon. If you use an 8 second speed flamer then of course you'll wait 8 seconds. I use a faster flamer myself.
FACT: I have a speed 3.1 flamer and Flamesingle2 takes 8 seconds and range of 16 m
Fact: With the fire DOT, you have a low DPS against MOBs with 100% heat resists, or PCs wearing 80% heat resistant composite. As it should be.
no problem here, of course most commandos don't have a problem here if you read the posts.
Fact: You still have the fire DOT. Who said it went away? You just can't have MULTIPLE fire DOTs that tick away at 2-3k damage every few seconds, despite the victim wearing 80% heat resistant composite.
Once more something that everone else is already agreeing with
Fact: Everyone assumes the other lines are broken because their damage output is
SUBSTANTIALLY lower when held up to compare with the overpowered, unbalanced, multi DOT flamer. No one bothered trying using an acid rifle against a 100% heat resist MOB because it didn't matter.
FACT: the HAR tree is broken, since getting the bonuses in HAR split into two different categories for for accuracy, the HAR is the only acid weapon in the game that isn't AP1, and a DX2 outdamages a HAR anytime of the day.
Field Tactics line is ok if you can get within 10m of the target to use your grenade, of course that will put you in the blast radius of the Proton also. That kinda sucks,
LP only is useful if you take Pistoleer, thus forcing a Master commando to be a Master Pistoleer also if they are going to have any effective use of his weapon.
HW Tree, only the RL and HPBC seem to actually work in this HW tree and the others are kinda sad and weak.
Now I've been a Master commando for weeks, before we got our great FIX long ago, and I have gone the path of Master Pistoller so that my LP is an effective weapon, which I actually use more in PvP because you can't always get 16m to an emeny and have them stop. Now I agree that the wound damage of the flame dot is out of hand and could be toned down, the damage potential it did was just fine. As for stacking dots, I never did that anyways because I always thought that to be a bug, but I think the dots should be affected by the heat resist, but if you don't have heat resistaned armor, you should burn and take the damage.
