Thread: Want to know why the Profession is still broken?

I dunno about you, but I still have a ton of good ideas now.
At least, I've had a few agreements to things where I've posted some nice and in depth stats about AP and DPS, and to what I personally think the role of the Commando should be. And I'm by no means the only one, people like Garvin, and Ivoni in times past have done exactly the same. We've all posted things which seem fair and reasonable, not difficult do do within programming constraints, would NOT unbalance the profession or the game overall in any way, and have some kind of proof to back it up where necessary.
I can count the number of such posts which have been acknowledged on one hand. That's me being optimistic.
Edit: Didn't realise there was a second page, if you're wondering about the non-sequitur.

It's not the "whining" and "ranting" that chased the Dev's away...It's the lack of attention to our suggestionsthat created the "whining" and "ranting"...It's a case of "WE TOLD YOU SO..." after every patch that has caused the "whining" and "ranting"...And did you notice how JustG ending a ton of Whining and Ranting by just acknowledging us...he didn't say he was going to fix our issue...he just told us that we are heard and we are on the radar...that's the main thing we wanted to hear...it did a lot of good and started some healing...
lets get this out of the way. you talk about maturity, and yet you belittle many people here, seiryu5. that's immature right there. you don't anyone whining or acting immature, then act like it yourself. golden rule my friend.
secondly, its a proven fact that the only way to get anything changed in this game is to whine and cry like there's no tomorrow. do i like it? nope. i'd rather the dev's listen to ideasgiven by lordS, giribaldi, master synn, garvin, maddogs, technohic, tacwraith, raptor and myself for the past8 months. but alas, they instead would rather listen to the nerf cries by the uber l33t pvp'ers out there that don't get the idea of moving out of the 16m range.
lets look at the past from the beginning. knockdowns were overpowered in pvp. so what happened? everyone that didn't have a kd move cried about it on the boards. the devs saw it, and nerfed it, giving a huge HAM penalty when using a knockdown move. then, people would either get buffed, use spices, or use a low HAM cost weapon to counter this. so then what happened? the devs added a timer. great, now you can only get kd'd once every 30 seconds in pvp. twice if you were dizzy, got up, and posture changed. infinite if you were a carbinier with charge shot. what did this all do? it basically screwed over the pikeman profession that lived off of sweeps and area attacks. the whole profession was made for these types of moves, but because the pvp'ers complained about it, it was taken away. cries and whines got the attention.
another example. probot droids were waaaaay too over powered when they first were made. i could take my probot with AR1 and tank just about anything out there. if it died, i could store it, re-call it, and it was fixed again. what happened? people started complaining about those now, saying that a probot was too powerful and letting noobs kill anything out there for good xp. so, they got nerfed as well. no more armor, lower HAM (how a robot has health, action and MIND is beyond me) and suffered from perma death. this was a good nerf IMO, as it did give an unfair advantage to those using them. again, cries and whines got the attention.
creature handlers have probaly suffered the most out of the public outcry for nerfs. back in the day, you could call out 3 rancors and have them tank for you or wreck house in pvp. then the nerf cries came, andthe new creature levels were put in. then, people were just getting 4/4/0/0 in creature handler, buying their pets, and using some of the best pets out there. you'd find master commandos solo'ing krayt dragons with a graul mauler. you'd see someone with frenzied grauls use its AOE attack to hurt entire raiding parties in pvp. so, the nerf cries came again, and the creature revamp went live. now the same pets won't last 3 seconds against a krayt dragon, and one teras kasi master can take out just about any pet someone sicks on them. now, as this nerf did balance things out a bit with pve, it made creature handlers almost useless in pvp. you don't see rebels using pets to tank an AT-ST while raiding. you don't see imperials sicking a couple of pets on the rebel troopers guarding a large faction base. its because they will die incredibly fast. also, this nerf hurt the lucrative business many CH's had from selling pets. a master creature handler could go to endor, find an arachne queen, and sell it for 3 million credits. not bad for a hard days work. now, they'd be lucky to get 100k for any pet they have, as bio engineered pets are all the rage now. yet again, it was the cries and whines of the public that won.
i could go on and on with the waywhining and crying has effected the game. i'd wager that the commando profession was fixed back in august because of the whining we did. before that, Q-3PO actually said that the commando profession was working as intended. never mind that flamesingle2 did about 1600 points of damage (the same as stopping shot with a 200 max damage pistol). never mind that the heavy acid rifle couldn't be used, because the cert was broken. never mind that most commandos couldn't get any skills other than field tactics, because servers didn't have resources to make flamethrowers or rocket launchers, and the launcher pistol only gave pistol xp. but we were working as intended. it took our original correspondent resignation and a mass outcry of the commando community to get the changes we so rightly recieved. i've said it before, if the squad leader board would bithc and moan as much as other boards did, that class might actually work. if the pikeman boards had more posters complaining, it might actually be a viable profession. if image designers can get changes to their profession by complaining enough to the devs, then it can work for anyone.
The only hope I see is look at chef now, they are totally revamped and looking pretty good. Let's hope this happens to us. I just find it funny that thereare known broken professions, the heart of the game, without being the number one priority. I tend to think they should fix a profession before bringing a nerf down on it. Now there are fire blankets.. good for our target, but it removesa lot of ourfirepower. If you look at that from an outside prospective its fair because water is the only way to put out fire, butlooking at it from the inside it's our main weapon. It's not like we canswitch to our HAR when flames just aren't doing the key because that is totally in-effective (lets see how the patch goes, hopefully that will change).
Commando has a lot of potential, along with most of the borked professions, but the waiting is the hardest part. I love doing 2800+ in pvp, that's the main reason I stay commando, but we really need to be revamped so that more than 25% of our profession is worth using. The point of thismessage is just that I puzzles me to have a game with so many non-working or non-working as intended parts. Commando is aperfect example of this because just about 75% of our profession isnot worth using in most occasions.
