1.) Our biggest strength is our Flame Thrower. We can hit big on things that have low or no resistance to Heat as well as burn down there health stat as we are attaking them. Another would be our HW. Sure we can get out damage per second even with these but they make big holes when we realy need it.


2.) The biggest weakness is that we have to be in melee range to do our damage and we take that 2.5 more when hit by melee. So basifly our major weapon also becomes our undoing. But at least we will go out in a blaze of glory!


3.) O no how long should I make this. For one ide like to see our Ft get some range or at least some time delay moving down or be brought up to par as a more heavy hitter to the rest of the weapons. The grenades even if they don't to Stat Damage ide like to see them not kill us and have more per stack. The Har ide like to see some Acid AP and some ranged damages on that. The HW I like them they way they are but we need more per stack or use that shell idea into a launcher casing or something with its power being brought up as the DPS and things are modified to other professions. They always say that our offense makes up for our lack of defense. Ide realy like to see this make more sense in the revamp be it we be brought up alot in damage or the others being brought down more to par so we do have a fierce attack.


4.) I did try TS as well as I am on TS2 I have not realy played TS but I have used my Commando many times in TS2 to test new things when they use Bria as the Test center server.

The Sandbox will be a private server capped at around 100-150 players (similar to the Caps they instituted on TC2, but I believe the server capacity is ONLY up to around 150...so its not a regular kind of server...)


This means most likely more Blue Froggies... (a la TC2).....so it won't be on TC...until -after- the closed testing most likely....(meaning your commando, and my wookiee commando's skill levels doesnt matter)


OR....quite possibly your TC character will be copied over (as garvin has hinted at times!) like during the Jedi testing in Pub 9....I somewhat doubt this though, as it would just be easier getting the froggies involved...with a small number of testers who want to get something done (rather than the chaos on TC2 with ppl not testing...granted I was one of those peoples when I wasnt trying out the FS quests lol )







I gotta admit..I tried testing the FS quests....



But ended up trying to build a Mastercommando template, where I were a efficient master commando....Needless to say, I ended up using "secondary skills" to live and prosper....while commando was.."hmm..maybe I shoot this time".....

1) What do feel is the biggest Strength of being a Commando in the Current System?

The flamethrower specials. The big initial damage can instantly kill lesser creatures, and the DoT can wear down creatures with insane armor.

2) What do you feel is the biggest Weakness of being a Commando in the Current System?

Our weakness lies not with the commando profession itself, but rather with the balance relative other combat professions. The biggest strength we have cannot compare to the huge offensive and defensive capabilities of professions like the TKA or the swordsman. That is our weakness.

3) What change do you hope to see most in the Commando Revamp that, if this one thing happens at least, will make for a better Commando?

That the relative power of combat professions is evened out corresponding to skill points required. I'm not hoping to see the commando as an uber solo profession, but rather a heavy hitting nuker/supporter.

4) Do you have a character on Test Center and if so, how long have you had that character? (does not disqualify you if you haven't had one)

I have a master commando on TC, about 2 months old I think.

- Our Flamethorwer and the DoT. PvE also, mostly because of this

- Lack of accuracy

- Low Defense

- Only 1 working weapon

- Low DPS, outdamaged by almost every other combat class


3) What change do you hope to see most in the Commando Revamp that, if this one thing happens at least, will make for a better Commando?


Foremost: A fun, balanced profession, good in both PvP and PvE. An elite combat profession, needed in every group trying to take on high level content.


- Higher accuracy for all our weapons.

- New weapon(s), building off our marksman skills.

- New specials, building on our unarmed prereq.

- Higher state defense and melee/ranged defense


4) Do you have a character on Test Center and if so, how long have you had that character? (does not disqualify you if you haven't had one)


- Yes, for 6 months or so.

versatility, we can dish out many different kinds of damage in a full spectrum of ranges.

broken versatility, we've got all this stuff thats disposable and subpar compared to the flame thrower.


3) What change do you hope to see most in the Commando Revamp that, if this one thing happens at least, will make for a better Commando?

(just one thing) Heavy AP to the acid launcher, it would instantly become useful and apart of every commandos artillery loadout.


other thingsi wanna see? us deal damage equally well to all damage types...

we should be the heavy guy of all damage types.. exceptmaybe kinetic.

Yes, since April.



Note: i play daily, i beta tested SWG back in the day, i wanna be as involved as possible in making commando as awesome (and balanced!) as possible.

I really thing that the HOLOGRINDER needs to be represented as well in the test.

That way we can really keep track of how they can F***** Up the new combat system...

Garvin, I STRONGLY recommend two Commandos who I believe to regularly make outstanding, thorough and insightful posts:


1) StarNick (Stern)


and


2) Sinjen


These guysare both very involved and they always provide very good insight. They'll only help our profession. I'm surprised that they weren't on your list.

Garvin,


I follow Commando with a passion, have been Master Commando, and was able to get my dream template of BH/Commando when the BH Skill point reduction came into play. Felt good to be a commando again. ;-)

Answers to your questions:

1) What do feel is the biggest Strength of being a Commando in the Current System?

Flamethrower for PVE - hands down. Sometimes useful in PVP.

2) What do you feel is the biggest Weakness of being a Commando in the Current System?

Grenades, and heavy weapon accuracy.
Commando requires Unarmed 4, however we get no hand to hand skills, other than from the Unarmed Tree.
If commandos take 2.5dmg when equipping a heavy weapon, give us a melee attack with the weapon, with a chance to stun.

(I know if someone tried to hit me in real life while I was holding a very heavy weapon,
I'd try to at least club them with it once or twice)

3) What change do you hope to see most in the Commando Revamp that, if this one thing happens at least, will make for a better Commando?


I'd like to have more than a 5% chance of hitting a target with grenades or rockets.
I would also like to see the range extended on a few of the flamethrower specials
I would also like to see splash damage come into play, and some sort of target system for the rocket launcher.
(if you fire a missle into a crowd of people, even if you don't hit one of them, you'll still hurt a few of them slightly with debris, or be able to "lead" your target with a rocket, by aiming just in front of them, etc. )
E-Web Cannon - remove the particle beam rifle, and replace it with the E-Web.

4) Do you have a character on Test Center and if so, how long have you had that character? (does not disqualify you if you haven't had one)

Yes, I've been on TC twice a week (in most cases) since October of 2003
