- faction pets cannot be transfered and suffer permadeath

- faction pet limit at colonel should be: 1 at-st and 2 dark troopers out at a time

- no one should be able to call more than 1 at-st

- once bioengineering is fixed, their pets will be... very... nasty...

- the rebels should get some kind of hovertank with similar attributes like the at-st, BECAUSE THE IMPERIAL COMMANDOS WANT SOME WORK, TOO

- forcing players to group with a CH isn't really something you would want. some people want to take on decent mobs on their own. they can't do that anymore if faction pets are limited to overt pvp. i'm talking about a rancor or a lvl 25 mission here, i'm not talking about soloing krayt dragons

- if faction pets don't fight normal animals, why should they fight an animal in pvp?...

shortly said: instead of nerfing, please fix and improve

Okay, just need to clear up a few points here. The rebels should NOT have a vehicle to compete with the AT-ST. for gods sakes, they're terrorists. This is exactly like the US Army vs Al Quida Terrorists. They have rpg's and ak47s while we have much better training, equipment, etc. etc. etc...

The CH using skill points to obtain his creatures is the most ridiculous argument ever conceived by the CH's and I cant believe that people bought it so blindly as a good defense. First of all, they use skill points to gain the skills to tame creatures, but whats the difference between them, and any combat class? We use skill points to gain certifications to use certain guns. But guess what, unlike CH's we dont get our weapons for free. No no no, we have to go out and earn money to buy ours, and eventually, they wear out and become useless ALOT faster than a creature does.

Now, anyone here who wants to argue that it is more beneficial to have an at-st for PVE than a graul is either an idiot, or a rebel whos never had one. I would rather have a full grown graul in PVE to tank for me than an at-st any day of the week, 150% of the time. Why? Because its an equal tank. I can put that graul on just as many targets as I can an at-st and chances are, with me backing it up, its barely going to get scratched. But thats not the important part. The important part is that the graul doesnt damage the target even 1/4 as much as the at-st will, leaving MUCH MUCH more xp for whoevers using it. An at-st may make a good tank for soloers, but the high amount of damage it does chews up most of the xp you could have gained. Your lucky to get half of what the creatures actually worth when you use an at-st. This is why I prefer to hunt with my CH friends using their pets as tanks than with my other buddy who uses his at-st.

Of course in PVP this is a different story, but the discussion here isnt about pvp, its about the at-st in PVE. But honestly in all fairness, if they are going to get all realistic here and say that "its a blatent misuse of imperial resources to use an at-st for hunting creatures" then why dont they use that logic across the board and realize that its also not promoting good continuity and realism to have someone using a pet graul or rancor in PVP?

I have nothing against ch's or their existance in game. I have a problem with the way they are implemented in THIS GAME. The devs wanna talk a big game about how they want to promote continuity and increase the submersion level but their talk is cheap because their actions contradict it. Nothing is more immersion shattering or continuity breaking than seeing giant pokemon fighting in what is supposed to be Star Wars based pvp. Its just ridiculous. And that is why no matter how much they change this game, people will always complain about ch's.

CH's dodged the pet permadeath sentence already. I think that was a bad decision considering it just adds to the fact that there is no penalty for death in this game. CH's can just continue to use their creatures to abuse the systems in this game because there is no fear of anything bad ever happening to them. They can send in pet after pet after pet into pvp battles no matter how lame it is because there is nothing for them to fear. Whats the worst that can happen? They get some wounds and need to spend some time getting them healed? Big deal. It took them a hell of alot less more time to tame that creature and let it grow in their datapad for 3 days while they played with their other (already full grown creatures), than it does for any imperial to get an at-st.

The whole profession is just a joke. I dont even own an at-st and probably wont for some time to come. But the fact that the devs are even considering making this change, being so 1 sided without doing anything to ch's just makes me sick.

Continuity? Submersion? Please, how hipocritical can you be?

Please don't come out with realism as an excuse for ANYTHING!

Realism is taking one blaster bolt to the head or torso and then that's it... Game Over. No cloning. You're dead... New character...

Realism is not knowing someone's name, because it isn't convientlyfloating over their head.

Realism is being able to aim and shoot a Blaster at wherever and whoever.

Remember this is a game, not Real Life, therefore there has to be rules to make it fair to be a GAME.

Ok, a few more comments...

Yes it seems it does suck if Rebels have to kill AT-STs sometimes on Level 25 faction missions. I can solo a level 25 imperial mission about 50% of the time especially if they spawn inside a little base; in which chase I charge them and flame cone 2 them and run around shooting them while they burn. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I doubt Rebels facing AT-STs in their missions have that kinda chance.

While I understand the whole "realism doesnt always apply in games simply for balance issues" arguement, its going to be very silly when a red mob spawns next to an imperial outpost (loaded with troopers and a few AT-STs) and the npc imps just stand there are their fellow soldiers (players) get attacked. Or maybe Im reading this wrong. Will NPC faction members attack aggros near one of their bases and help defend players being attacked? Or is it just a players faction pets that wont be able to attack?

Well said faraed. Love the quote "is either an idiot, or a rebel whos never had one". I question though, why the hell is this in the COMMANDO forum?

Thats easy, because we are the best profession in dealing with AT-STs. Andwhile the topic is not directly related to commandos vs AT-STs, it does let us know that in the future when we see an AT-ST that the person commanding it is intent on faction warfare and not non-faction related activities. Kind of like a heads up for Rebel Commandos.

Wow, so many misinformed people in this thread...

Real life comparisons are just plain dumb. Hello. This isn't real life. The Imperials aren't the US and the Rebels aren't poorly armed Islamic shoe bombers.

Have you even watched the SW movies? Read any SW books? The Rebels include many of the Old Republic races and planets who see the Imperials for what they really are... pawns of a power hungry Emperor and a very repressive regime. These "terrorists" include the Mon Cals who are renown for their star ship building expertise. The X-Wing was far superior to the Tie Fighter. Don't you think if the rebels could field an impressive fleet of Mon Calamari cruisers, they could find a way to build a few hover tanks?

Yes, the Rebels were outnumbered and outgunned... but many of you have got it in your head that they were a bunch of idiots with no technology who threw rocks and sticks at the Empire. Wrong.

Regarding the CH whines... please playthe class before you cry like children.CHisn't as great as you've made it out to be.

i dont know whether to laugh or to cry at the stupidity of the imperial sthat whine in here!

1.: Faction Pets are not meant for PvE. They are meant to strengthen and enhance the Galactic civil war.

2.: Faction Pets are not meant to be forever, but to be severely overpriced one-shot items.

3.: Faction Points in itself are a tool of the GCW. They are not meant to boost one's character.

4.: This games is not only for Faction Players but also for Neutrals.

5.: Any attempt to use Faction Pets in common PvE, will severely unbalance the game, to the mischief of the neutral players.

6.: SW isNOT GCW only

7.: SW is about GCW, as it is about wretched hives of scum and villany

8.: All aspects of the game gave to be in Balance

9.: The abuse of Faction Pets for standerd gameplay severely unbalances the player economy.

Conclusion:

Faction Pets of any Kind must not be used in PvE outside of attacks on NPC members of the opposing faction. (i would make an excetion to that, if it was an imperial strike against a criminal empire, but as such conent is non-existant atm, we dont have to think about it).

If you dont have enough people around, to form a large hunting group, guess what: YOU ARE NOT GOING TO KILL A KRAYT DRAGON TONIGHT! It's that simple.

And no. Just by grinding FP to get an AT-ST you are not entiteled to keep it forever or use it to level your character and/or raise your cash balance.

CH Pets on the other side are an element of a certain profession and hereby a PROFESSION tool, whereas faction pets are a FACTION tool. CH have been nerfed WAY too much.

But if this still seems to make no sense, perhaps this will make up your mind:

CHs may have out only a maximum of 70 lvls of Pets (at master). They may have aout a maximum number of 3 Pets. The maximum armor of they pets is light (the developers ahve taken out all babys of a creature that has more than light armor, as they saw it unbalancing the game, when they CH creature were able to take too much punishment and were able to tank even high level mobs). On the other hand you say it is perfectly okay, if an imperial runs around with 3 pets, total level of 375, armor 3 and 70% resist to all?

Cab't you see the flaw in your logic? Can't you understand that this is NOT what the developers intended faction pets to be?

I think that Faread makes outstanding points.

Also consider this. CH's also have other combat skills (pistol, unarmed, whatever). I'll use pistol in this example. They send in their pet to tank and they get ALL the xp. The damage their creature does goes toward CH xp and the damage they do goes toward their pistol skill (+ Combat XP).

If someone were to use an AT ST the damage that it does is lost xp. The person using it only gets a percentage of the available points.

So CH's use their pet to tank and get xp for two skills (CH & Pistol) in full. The faction pet user gets only the damage they do which ends up lower anyway.

Creature handlers should not be nerfed nor should faction pets be limited; they have disadvantages as is.

Creature handling is still a joke to me. I have always refused to use it, because I hate bandwagon crap. But do to the fact I am in the Air Force and stationed in Japan, I usualy end up doing a lot of soloing after everyone in the states starts logging off at noun here. After the changes to supression fire and other skills, I have to take CH just to be able to solo. I am not talking about the average crap, I am talking about the fun stuff. Who wants to run around and waste blues all day, haven't we killed enough bunnies. I do not have enough into flame to solo big stuff effectively. So I went with my friends to hunt rancors 2 days ago. In just a few hours I went from Hunting I to creature handling novice. It only took me a little while to get Taming and training I. Now that I have those skills, I can obtain a pet to tank for me with 8k ham. Creature handling is very easy, and you have to use it in most pve encounters. I am an Imperial because I hate doing what most people do (I.E. rebels). People complain that the Empire is all power gamers, so what. You have to be one, because you have to grind to get the faction bonus's.... and if you don't use them you are still out numbered. I never pulled out an AT-ST unless I was fighting a creature handler, or a lot more people than I could handle. It is my defense against everyone else. Rebels can complain all they want, but did they bother to watch the movies themselves. When the Empire comes rolling in with a ton of crap, the rebels always ran. Now I have to pull out my AT-St just so I can get away half the time. I don't care what they do with the AT-ST anymore, cause I am sick of hearing everyone whine about it. I wish I had some challenge to kill like it, but when the blast damage comes out it won't be much of a challenge. Anyone who pulls one out in town is a **edit**ing moron after that patch. I am sick of being forced to do stuff just to be viable, screw having to be a pistoleer and screw having to be a CH just to solo.

I agree faction pets should be used for PvP combat and not owning everything on the PvE battlefield...

I can gaurantee one thing...AT-STs no longer attacking PvE targets will sure see a decrease in the sudden number of kryat dragon tissue coming in and being used in the making of uber weapons

Faraed your an moron heres what u said:

Screw that. If AT-ST's cannot be used for PVE purposes such as tanking a large creature so we can kill it, how do you justify someone using a graul to tank for them in PVP or on factional missions? Im sorry, you can try to justify pets in the star wars universe all you want, but the fact of the matter is not once did you ever see or hear of an imperial or rebel using a giant creature to fight for them in battle. If you are going to nerf the AT-ST's use in PVE do the same to CH's in PVP and factional PVE.

This one sided, short visioned nerf junk is what angers me.

Here is the reason if you actually remove head from sphincter then post. faction pets require no skill to use, a novice and i mean a complete novice in any starting skill can have 3 of these, while a player has to advance to a elite profession in order to use his pet in combat. (talking about graul and at-st here not some cu pa that any person can have.) if they put a requirement like you need to be master faction pet user(which uses skill points)to use 1 at-st then your comment is ok, but other than that your dumb a$$ who can no longer farm any mob in the game with it.

kthxbye oh ya if you quit can i have your stuff?
