How will these cross profession specials work? Can I use a pistol attack with a heavy weapon, or will only sertain profession specials work with them. How will we know what works with what?

DOTs come as effects on heavy weapons and grenades.

Uh, doesn't this directly contradict what TH said/posted in the CU documentation postings?

"DoTs: While DoTs, or Damage-Over-Time attacks, will work much the way they did before, weapons with DoTs have been removed."

I can see the confusion. Sorry about that. All pre-CU DOTs will be removed from the weapons (such as NS lances). After CU only select Commando weapons will have have chance to land a DOT and only where it makes sense as part of the weapon utility - Flame thrower being the one that comes to mind first. There will however, be no more standard weapon DOTs as part of the weapon itself (as TH stated) aside from that. We will still have DOTs, but they won't be applied via the weapon any longer (except in the special case of select commando weapons).

Hope that cleared it up a bit.

I suppose the trillions of credits spent on them will be reimbursed right?

helios question! why do none of the elite weapon professions (IE pistoleer, riflemen, carbineer) get no new weapons? and if they do... why dont the certs show?

Today...

...I'm pretty sure everyone gets at least some of the new weapons. They're just not all given out as part of the box. In general, you should only see weapon certs in the skill trees that can be crafted by smiths. Loot/quest weapons will most likely not show up in the trees. There are some VERY cool new weapons in there. Playing a commando myself though, I'm of course partial to the heavy weapons.

Ah, is that why I can't find the certs for the proton weapons in any line? (not the grendes mind you, but the rifle and carbine).

Or am I just being unobservant?

Im sorry to put a downer here. but it looks like this Dev, becuase he plays a Commando, has made you guys...well...to good. I -really- hate to say this but I think everyone will be a commando now. With your DOTs and Nades. It seems like you guys are going to be crazy powerful.

I hope this Dev has not allowed his own playstyle to hamper the balance of the game.

I'd rather they make us too powerful then tune us down, then have to fight to get "turned up"...I had a feeling we'd be starting out the CU testing over-powered...from the looks of it, our Grenades are a bit over-powered...we'll have to wait and see on our other weapons, but the whole idea is that Commandos will "power-up" other professions...not every person will want to dabble Commando because they'd be gaining power, but giving up other useful abilities (like crowd control, healing, etc)...

I see your point Down is always easier than Up. Also Commando will probably be pretty slow firing making it key for Group play but now great for Solo play. I guess what Im getting at is since you are the only DOT in the game and your DOTs spread over all professions I would hate to have to get Commando just to keep up.

Is it still true that no DOT is a Health dot but rather a Secondary DOT? thought I read that somewhere. I know your DOTs no longer cuase wounds, which I for one am happy about.

I was playing with the Nades today and your Radius is -Huge-. I think the Nade speed is nice now that it is Faster. the slow nades on live I found to be to slow.

...btw. I played a Commando on Live for a long time. I dont want anyone thinking Im trying to rain on your parade here. Just trying to bring some Devils Advocate opinions here.
