The requirements for Commando dont require a gun. But to use specials with your new guns in commando you would need to get some from other marksman skills AFAIKS.



And you have the one's that we get from our Marksman Pre-Req as well...it's not like we have no specials...we just get the one's via our pre-reqs then get to use them on our weapons (and as we progress, we increase in the power of the weapons that we use those specials with)...From there, we can go and get more specials (go shopping).

Not sure...when it was originally explained to me it was proposed as "toughness" that is weapon based (but that was awhile back and much has changed)...


I think it's going to be something we are going to have to see to understand it's full scope...

from what i can tell of the marksmen def (as in pistol def and carbine def ect) it works like toughness... i was getting hit for more from same mobs b4 i trained the first box for example... this was something not BIG but still noticable (unless that's just randomness working agenst me :/) a smaller thing i seem to have noticed is... it ALSO works like a dodge/block/counterattack as i was getting hit less times... not just for less dmg per hit. Altho this was no so noticable... i think with testing and getting to higher lvls of these defences.. we will work out exactly what they do... but to recap.. to me.. seemed like a toughness with or without dodge/block/counterattack like propities. also seemed to work for both ranged and melee (altho again at these low lvls it's hard to be sure)

I dropped a BIG thank you to Helios on the Corr forums for his Q&A session (late) last night. I think he was spurred on due to my question concerning/confirming our Fire DoT. Regardless...what he told us, is huge...HUGE!


Built in cone? Thats just so awesome...


Commandos are definately going to be awesome in the CU...we have great radiuses on our heavy weapons, which will make us ideal in a lot of combat situations (especially in PvP)...I just hope they fix the bug where you can aggro mobs through walls due to AoE - Like in the DWB. Lol

Don't know for sure yet until we can test it...the thing everyone should make sure to be aware of is that certain specials may be restricted to or away from certain weapon because they may be to powerful...It's also very possible that we will see more specials become restricted or unrestrcted as a result of testing...so in otherwords, Low Blow may work with our FT, but if shown as over-powering, they'll restrict the FT from using it. Not every special will work with every weapons...


On a side note, and this is partially speculation on my part, another reason for us not having our own specials is that the devs didn't want folks doing a Flame Special via any weapon besides the FT...So they decided to convert our FT into a Flame Special generator that coverts other specials into Flame Specials...

I remember awhile back that Garvin said something about how the CU would make this profession a little more interesting and thats why i've stayed commando . Now because of the CU I got to re-think on how to make this profession even more powerful against the average foe.

I wanna test out BH's critical shot with the flamethrower....


Critical hit AOE attack.... with sweet flame spray effects.... ooh yeah sounds goooood! *grin*

Lack of certs and specials seems to make Commando/Bh combo a little less powerful though, will have to wait and see.

Does the flamethrower count as a fully automatic weapon? Because I was thinking of going TKM/Commando/Carbines 4x4x and some of the carbine specials say "This attack will only work if a fully automatic weapon is equiped." Attacks like supresion fire.... ooo supresion fire with a flamer , its like flamecone2 + it slows them down. I hope we can use the flamer with this one, would be a nice trick.

In my opinion taking commando's specials away completely is just wrong. I dont mind that flamesingle and what not is gone, not with the new cross weapon attacks anyways. But I do mind the fact that commandos get no such attacks. I'm not asking for anything on the scope of riflemen or carbineer, but something that makes us unique and not just "uber" dabblers. Basically, we are losing 2 unique specials to gain the ability to turn any other ranged special we get INTO Flame specials...That makes us the MOST unique profession in this game in my book...


Besides, we DO have specials even without dabbling ANY other professions...we get them from Marksman....Remember, we turn even those into Flame Specials...


And beyond that, we have OTHER weapons now besides the FT that we'll want to use...We have MORE non-consumable weapons then ANY other profession AND we have our Grenades...our Role is "Heavy Damage Specialists"...sounds like we might just finally be that...







Does that mean we can use Fire Knockdown with our FT now?

Sounds to me like we are gonna be frikin awesome. I will prolly have a ranged prof with my Commando skills. Something like Master Commando/Master Carbineer/3040 BH.
