Well if the melee mod stays it should be toned down to.......say 1.25x since pistoleers get 1.5x and they don't have to be in melee range to use their pistoleer specials. The melee mods are based on optimal range for the weapons of the prof rifleman>carbineer>pistoleer>commando should be ranged melee mod order.

If not well hmmm looks like our damage will have to be fixed again to account for the melee mod how does 3500-4500/4.0 flamers sound to you guys? Something that will guarantee a one shot kill on any mob in the game with a special so it will be 50:50 them vs us dying at any encounter. It shouldn't purpose a problem for pvp since appearently we "one shot" everybody we meet 100% of the time and therefore a little overkill won't matter one bit.

One thing I find very hard to understand is why other combat classes complain about us being more effective? And why we must be nerfed because of this?

Look at the skill points a master commando has to spend compared to say a pistoleer. If a person is willing to invest this many skill points into a combat profession then yes he should be much more dangerous than another combat class that costs half the skill points.

The devs MUST stop balancing us against other combat classes and start balancing us in a sensible way that provides a reward in effectiveness that reflects the ammount of skill points we MUST spend to even qualify for novice commando.

Right now I'm considering just staying with flame IV, I don't like the idea, I've never been a dabbler, I fully intended to master commando before I even started playing. I am now begining to realise this is just a pointless waste of time, I have already had to spend far more skill points on pre-requisites than any other class except BH and spending more on useless or broken commando skills would simply be stupidity on my part.

So what am I saying? Simple, if we are going to be nerfed slowly until we are similar to other combat classes then I believe commandos will be disapearing at an alarming rate, why invest almost twice as many skill points as another combat class and end up 'balanced' by the dev team until we are made equal to the cheaper professions?

Please Mr Corespondent make them understand that there is a difference between an elite profession and a hybrid professon, dumping the two together when looking at balance issues is just not logical.

Ok rant over, I'll shut up now.

1.The melee damage multiplier applied to us is not going to be removed. Pall said he’d consider lowering it but not removing it. I gave many good arguments for why it should not apply to us but to no avail. Basically, he said that the other combat classes already feel that we’re overpowered.

More proof that SOE has people deciding 'class balance' that dont even play the game.

2. Pall will look into making the HAR AP but can’t combine it in the same tree with the flamethrower, as some of you have asked for. It causes too many game problems due to players having different skill levels in the two trees, etc.

Different skill levels in 2 trees? **edit** is he talking about? the HAR and FT are the same MF'ing gun with the same **edit** specials. The only difference is the dot and range modifiers. See comment on point #1.

3. He said that he is open to improving some of the Master levels, including commando. He’ll consider adding better accuracy bonuses at Master. Some of you have suggested lowering armor HAM costs for Master commando. “No”. That isn’t going to happen.

Of course he is 'open'. Im 'open' to receiving another month's free subscription too. But we both know neither will happen.

4. He’ll also consider moving the Launcher Pistol into an existing skill tree and giving it specials.

Uh.. and what did he say about point #2? Lets see...something about not being able to put another weapon type in an existing tree because they were different or something... yeah, im sure the LP can go in grenade, bazooka, flamethrower or acid rifle tree... its so like either of them. Is it just me or is this guy vocalizing with his buttcheeks?

Mastersynn, i really admire you man, I wouldve resigned the instant i got such blatantly ignorant and evasive responses.

Its like Sanya (DAOC) all over again... >.<

Thank god holocron is sure to tell me to be something other than master commando, that would be a true waste of points.

Good work, MasterSynn, way to cut to the chase, end the pussyfooting around, and nail them down to something. Keep bugging away, it is often said that 'The squaky wheel gets the grease', so maybe if you squak long and loud enough, we will get a little love thrown our way.

From my point of view there are 2 things that really bother me here:

1) It seems they have taken the path of our weapon being ranged when that hurt us most but yet still melee when that can hurt us most instead, I wish they would pick one and stick with it.

2) The other classes think we are overpowered, which is fine, but its not really the most realistic viewpoint...if you ask class you pretty much get the same 'Aw...we suck so bad! Eveyone else has it SO much better than us!' speech, regardless of how good or bad they actually are. But, at the same time, instead of adressing the real issue (lots of classes seem to be not working properly), and making a hard effort to get them fixed and working, they neatly sidestep the issue and instead unilaterally bring us down to near the same level as the not working so good classes, then pat themselves on the back for a job well done. Comparing a mostly working class to a non-working one, then using that as your basis for balancing....jeez, a blind man can see that is just half-***ed,shoddy work....not that we didnt need a little toning down in some respects.....but for petes sake, a slight tweaking down while tweaking the others up would have been a far better and in the long run less work intensive course but that would never happen because that would require a little common sense.

I would like to submit an observation:

Commando was originally designed to be a close support and hvy weapons specialist. We have to train unarmed IVand master marksman to get to novice.

We have essentially one weapon given to us which has close combat specials that work: the flame thrower. This weapon can do a lot of damage but is highly inaccurate and has a fairly long cool down which forces us into melee defence mode.

Other classes complain that when they combat the Commando in PvP we appear to be "ubber" because of our LP fireworks and the damage the FT DoT can do. They cry nerf. The Commando gets nerfed.

My experience with PvP indicates that every class seems to want to stand and fight toe to toe with a commando. A classwho's specials are strongest in melee by design. Yet itis the commando who is accused of being toopowerful and should be nerfed and then forced to use "tactics". What tactics?

The commando, it seems to me,is limited by design toobsorbingdamage as they approach the enemy as quickly as possible to apply its designed specials for greatest effect. If the commando is successful in applying this tactic why is the commando flamed for being what it is? The burden to implement effective defensive as well as offensive tactics, it seems to me, should fall on those other classes who may fall victim to our designed destructive abilities. A suggested tactic is: ifyou see us coming for you....RUN!

It is a non starter that the Commando is more powerful and capable of inflicting more damage than any other class. This is simply not true. We use fire. Fire frightens.

If I come under attack from a rifleman the last thing I want to do is allow myself to stay within the most effective range of their weapon. Moving out of the way is a tactic. Everyone since the last patch is urging the commando to use their marksman skills and tactics while they use their elite skills.

Heres an idea: how about you all let us be the elite class we are suppose to be you be the elite class of your choice and you use the tactics of your class and we see who wins? That would be fun.

Thanks for the chainsaw coment Tacwrath, I'll be thinking about that the next time I use my FT lol.

I also would like to thank Mastersynn for his efforts and appreciate having a dedicated correspondent who is doing all he can to help the commando proffesion become what it should have been 3 months ago.

As for the 2.5 damage modifier, yes it should at least be lowered if not removed totally. If this stays the way it is all commando's will be forced to train in a melee proffesion.

On the melee modifier...

I'm still trying to figure out why we trained a whole line of a melee profession just so we can take 2.5x damage from melee... I dont think the unarmed req should be removed, but they have to do something cause this is frickin ridiculous.

If the melee damage modifier forces all these whining Commandos to quit or change professions, then it is the best thing thats happend to us since the "big" patch. Unfortunatly, it seems 75% of the commando community consist of 0/0/4/0 Commandos , so thier voice is the loudest.
