Just remeber...there are 2 Different types of armor coming into Game...Mal. Armor and Bounty Hunter Armor...they are 2 different sets of armor...The BH armor will be cert'd for anyone...and is most often looted...

The Mal. Armor, which will only be attainable if crafted in the Death Watch Cave, will be available to the professions listed above...

Not all commandos would work for the Rebellion or the Empire. A lot of, say, mercenaries, might be commandos. Those four classes themselves sound a lot like the classes Mandolorians themselves would be, to me at least, so the certs make some sense from that perspective, to me at least. As for faction based commando armor, it'd never last. Giving a faction perk only to one class would just make too many other classes angry, no matter how balanced it was or how much sense it made.

Hell, maybe it is just a bone, but the way things have been, a bone is lovin for a dog of war... Man, I knew that pun would be bad, but now that I see it typed out...

Remember,

The Mandalorians wasn't Bounty Hunters, they were warriors. Like said before in this thread.

BHs and Commandos certainly qualify for this. Nice to add Rangers as well.

Looks like it's gonna be awfully hard to get a suit of Mandolorian armor since all the action has to take place in the D.W. Bunker. Will be tough. But fun.

Instead, your armor should be determined by your purpose and your needs as COMMANDOS.

Commando armor should be gotten from the factional terminals and wearable ONLY by the Commando of your respective political choice, either rebel or Imperial, and this armor should be designed with this in mind.

I just dont understand the thinking of the developers on this issue, and I certainly dont understand why the commandos have been crying for this.

Have you all lost your vision? Are you all resorting to making demands based upon what others are getting from the devs?

I can think of half a dozen Commando issues that could be resolved by thinking like a Commando. I don't even have to be a Commando to see what the purpose is, and what kinds of gadgets and armor should be required by the Commando profession.

No, mandalorian armor being worn by Commandos is not a fix, or even lovin, its a bone and it breaks the continuity. The argument that commandos should wear this armor is invalid.

I agree with what you're saying about continuity..Mandalorian armor should not be even remotely common. I fear that by adding it the devs are pandering to "I wanna be Boba Fett mommy!" syndrome.

However, assuming that it IS added, I disagree with you that the commando should not get the cert. Your argument primarily assumes that commandos are purely factional soldiers, but that is not a valid point. For the Empire, yes..factional commandos should be soldiers, and have access to special armor (storm commando armor anyone?). For the Rebels however, you need to remember that the entire faction is a hodge-podge of mercenaries, local militia, military personnel, and everyday citizens. A commando in this faction may be from the NSF, or CorSec, or might be a former moisture farmer who happened to pick up a stack of grenades. Unless you can justify the Rebel Alliance creating unique armor for their commandos (which is possible), it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be "come as you are" equipped for battle. Then the main point..you completely left out all of the non-factional commandos, who might be the equivalent of a SWAT team for a particular city or planet.

Can anyone say if there are any variations on the Mandalorian armor (reference KoTOR for other visuals & 4000 year gap). I have been thinking about that aspect ever since they said it would be in game. Also, it seems to me that there probably won't be very many people running around with this due to the level of difficulty in attainment (or so it seems). I agree with Samurai about the continuity, however this is where some creative liberty is being taken by SOE. I do, however, refuse to accept the notion that commandos shouldn't be allowed to wear this type of armor considering that what a person does should have no bearing on their armor.

[Now to just see if I can have a helmet-to-ship remote navigation computer installed on this mandalorian armor]

sorry for not catching this sooner. the mandalorian armor will require at least these items and crafters. probably more that i ahve not been informed of.

You will need the skills of a master tailor, armorsmith and droid engineer

they can only craft the armor in the death watch dungeon.

the componets mostly drop in the dw dungeon. with some resource exceptions.

lastly it requires some bh armor which drops outside the dw dungeon. as some have found out this drops from the black sun mobs. assassin, thug and henchmen.

that is all i have gotten confirmed. hopw this info helps.

O one last thing, you have to craft it in the dungeon and there is a set amount of time you have to craft it. all while your party holds off the dw gardians.

good luck.

Here's an idea:

Since Canderous, the Mandalorian in KotOR, was a Heavy Weapons Expert with his own Repeating Blaster Cannon, and Commando gets Mandalorian armour now, could we use this as ammo in the fight for Repeating Blasters of our own?

TH, can you kindly answer on which professions, if certs will be added, will be able to use mandalorian armor? BH's would love to have some lovin' sooner than later if you know what I mean

Certs for Mandalorian armor will be: Bounty Hunter, Commando, Ranger and Squad Leader

This may not seem like a huge amount of love for us...but it's something that I've seen come up for discussion here...nice to know we made the list!!!

I dont get it.

SOE are dancing a coin across their knuckles, and everyone is clapping their hands and saying "Yay Commando".

Mandalore armour!? So what!

A group of 20 elites couldnt penetrate the bases' defences.

And the armour is on a time limit to create it.

So.....with a group of 20 or more, we are going to be in there for a hell of a long time, dying and rezzing and dying, while the crafters hurry to make multilple suits of this armour. If you think only 1 person in the massive group wants the armour, think again.

Not to metion camping areas of the dungeon to get the loot components.......

This is ill-conceived. It is skinning mobs, adding hitpoints and resists, and calling it 'New Content'.

What a flippin' joke.

How does this armour help this profession? Does if fix the grenade problem? Does it fix the limited use weaps? Does if fix the HAR?

NO.

And you people say we don't get love...check this out...

Garvin, stop getting sidetracked. Exploding Droids and Mandalore Armour wont fix this profession. Concentrate on the issues that already affect the Commandos ability as a combatant without trying to ring-in extras that are just gonna be frosting on a cake that tastes like crap anyway.

20 Elites? I saw the professions that were in that group. I guarantee a group of a dozen or less are going to ace that place on Starsider. Our main PVP guild did all 6 corvettes in the first 3 days.

All I'm saying is that the Commandos should start RIGHT NOW gaining their own identity. Just making a Commando look and feel like a soloing Bounty Hunter is a waste of development in my opinion.

Get some imagination going in here. Watch the movies again, apply it to the game (though I realize that the devs aren't). Only by realizing and applying the purpose of the unique profession known as Commando will your game start to take shape into something better than what you have now.
