Thread: WOW, I am really shocked at your attitude

I for one was never able to deal that much damage to anyone pvp and of course since my modifiers to accuracy stink right now I still miss more than I hit. I have no problem with the damage modifier, but even wearing composite I can get incapped before the 16 second timer runs out on my flamethrower. I say fine, give us the damage mod, but does it really make sense to get the 2.5 when we have to be close to use them? Wouldn't it be fair to then decrease the timer to something like 8 seconds or at least let us unequip the weapon?

Caelrie, did you mean the CM is equal to the commando now or before this last patch? (that BH statement on the camps and such kinda negates what you said about the CMs though, plus its not 63 points for all the poisons and stuff I think theres a ranged healing area although i may be wrong (i.e. don't care doesnt matter b/c I dont think it adds or takes away from the point.) Plus, what are your feelings on the Commando>BH (by way of the Combat related skillpoints+its effect on your attitude towards CM)

Just curious.

And to the original poster, what the hell are you thinking? Seriously, PVP is the only reason anything (except maybe CH) has been nerfed. I'd love to see your brilliant "tactics" against a 2-3 bocatts (they con white) who do double damage. If you where somewhat involved in PVE a touch more, you might notice a meele multiplier for anyone is pretty ridiculous. Do you think pistols should be the king? (they are)

However, since I am apparently so newbish as to have to ask how to kill some things that con white to me, please help me out.

p.s. Without pets, I like doing my part to kinda try to counterbalance the friggin' petwars theme we have in this universe. oh yeah and with just commando using a FT if at all possible w/out being incapped.

I agree with the original poster,

I too was a pre-pre-(pre for a third time?)-patch commando (ahh heck, 2nd week after launch..thats easier ) and im disgusted how some commandos think their gods and gloat and dont appreciate the class plus maybe even more so, the whiners who take this as a sign of the end of the world

To get back on topic, the major concern we have right now is the 2.5X melee damage we are taking. IF you really want to compare apples to apples compare using a flame thrower to a rifleman which also suffers the penalty.

A rifleman can hit from 64m out using COVER and other abilities. Most hit with their armor peircing rifles and can incap in one or 2 shots from the distance. Also with a rifleman they can switch weapons without having to wait 7 to 15 seconds to unequip or stim themselves or do anything else.

Now take a Commando using a flame thrower. You can shoot regular shots with no armor peircing from a distance. IF you want to use any special you have to move within 16 meters. Instant melee range. Then we have a waiting period before doing ANYTHING else. Even if we change weapons we are still trying to out run a creature that moves at almost our own pace. Even the slow moving snorbals can get 2 hits in before someone with Explore 4 can move out of range to kite them.

To sum it up take any rifleman and take away their armor peircing and place them in melee range and tell them that is where they have to do specials from. Its quinessentially the exact same thing as what we are dealing with now. Now I'm not saying make that change to rifleman leave them alone and let them continue their long ranged sniping and allow us to do our jobs up close without insta death.

To the thread starter... you mentioned you were once a commando. You are not anymore so any of your arguements is moot point. If you wish to validate the arguements pick up a flame thrower and go challenge a mountain squill. I could solo these and kite them until they bled to death while i was a 0,3,2,2 pistoleer. Now as a heavy weapons user i get one shot before 2 quick smacks and incap.

As far as the pvp end of things all we really need is a method to put out the flames. Give the Master Medics an ice pack to craft and use. Allow it to squelch flames instantly. The only reason flame is soo powerful is that there is no method of putting out the burn while on a planet like tatooine. Since (at least on my server) the majority of the populations live on tat or naboo it would seem appropriate to just give us a method of stopping the burns. Just as the ultra powerful mind poisons can be cured by a doctor.

"You guys really need to drop that line.... does it matter that I'm a master fencer/brawler with the tka defense line when I pick up a rifle? No, it doesn't. Its the same difference with you.. just because you have that line doesn't make a bit of difference as soon as you touch a different weapon

Sorry....that attitude doesn't hold much weight either. Your argument implies our unarmed specialist shouldn't exist at all when we hold any other weapon and we should get whipped on by a novice brawler that gets too close. Thats like saying a Navy Seal would get whipped in a barfight by a skinny drunk teenager in a barfight if said Seal was holding a rifle at the time. You and I both know that there would be brainmatter on the butt of that gun. Fighting skill should ALWAYS be factored in and anything in your hands is potential melee weapon (even a rock)"

Thats the point though.. this is a game, and obviously the game doesn't care how tough you are with a certain weapon equipped. Why can a tortur hit me for 100 while holding my sword and then a stupid gurrcat hit for 300 when equipping a rifle? Do you suddenly get a glass jaw or forget how to absorb the damage? Nope.. its game mechanics... To be real honest I'd swear that a loooong time ago I read somewhere that stated heavy weapons took 3x the damage in close combat... just wish I could find where I saw that

Agent clark, if you got killed by a little nuna? what the hell are you doing? nuna's are some of the easiest things to kill.

Ok its simple any proffesion that has to have unarmed combat to level 4 in there proffesion should not suffer the penalty. If a rifleman wants to not suffer the penalty let him get the level 4 of unarmed and bang he doesnt suffer.

I am not a PvP person I hardly ever do it unless I happen to be in Ancorhead when there is an attack. So I cant speak from a PvP point of view. I do however hunt with my PA on dath or dant endor or lok. I as a commando have to get within 16 meters to do any sort of damage to a creature with 9k ham bars. I do not get to pick a ham bar to attack its random. The DOT does affect the health bar but thats not great unless by the luck of the draw I hit for health in my first shot.

With the patch I have to wait to attack anything. If I get to close to a mob before they are engaded and flame cone, them and yes I am a master commando and I do have other weapons they just are not affective at all, I get incapped automatically. As for the other weapons I dont have two weeks to build up my bank account to 300k creds. Well i do have two weeks to do it but I would rather enjoy the game and they are hard to find.

I seriously dont understand this game in concern with melee type proffesions. Unless they get unbelieveable dodge bonus they are going to loose to a gun of any kind.

As for combat medics and BH's why in the world do we as commandos want to say anything about them or that they need to be nerf'd in some respect. That is a hypocrictical statement saying nerf them because they are powerful and dont nerf us.

Both, probably. Combat Medics most often don't use rifle, and almost never melee, so this patch didn't change a thing in the Commando vs Combat Medic matchup.

(that BH statement on the camps and such kinda negates what you said about the CMs though, plus its not 63 points for all the poisons and stuff I think theres a ranged healing area although i may be wrong (i.e. don't care doesnt matter b/c I dont think it adds or takes away from the point.)

The ranged line helps you throw your poisons further. Every skill box a combat medic gains in her profession helps poisons work better in one way or another. They also help healing better, but the fact that every single box helps poison makes it a valid point to say every one of those 63 skillpoints helps offensive combat ability.

Plus, what are your feelings on the Commando>BH (by way of the Combat related skillpoints+its effect on your attitude towards CM)

Honestly, I don't really care all that much about commando vs BH. Realistically, looking at the point value, bounty hunters should probably be stronger. But on the other hand, commandos spend more points on combat skills than bounty hunters. It's a tossup, I dunno. The only time I ever even mention is when someone mentions that stupid phrase "BH + Commando > rest", because there's no real logic to support it. Too much grey area like the combat medic, double elites, etc.

Who the hell rated Caelrie's alst post 1 star? **edit** If i hadnt turned the defaults off I couldn't have read that. Plus it was a good post. Thanks Caelrie.

p.s What about the commando combat pre-reqs compared to CMs? Not arguing here just curious about people's opinions.

And it seems that recently I read somewhere that CMs weren't getting the 75% PVP reduction. Thoughts anyone?
