There is NOTHING wrong with the commando profession that I can see except for the HAR. I am a Master Commando on Shadowfire, and can tell you, the melee defense, or lack there of makes no difference to me what-so-ever. I came to be a commando on the Shadowfire server after I had become a Master Rifleman on Gorath. Rifleman have the same lack of melee defense that the commando does. You people just have to learn how to cope with it.
I suggest instead of whining and complaing you take up another profession on top of commando that will allow you to be "uber" again. I myself am 3-2-0-2 Creature Handler. This allows me to use some pretty serious pets. I really havent taken on anything that has taken me down because of the use of my pet and well placed Warning Shots from my launcher pistol. The only things I do not solo (pet with me of course) are Krayt Dragons and Gorax. You cant even begin to tell me that you actually believe that it makes any difference at all to our profession. Now... instead of standing in one place like a lump in PvP firing away with your flamer, you actually have to use some tactics and think about how to win.
The whole point of this game is to give you a fun challenge. This is not a cake-walk. If I was able to deal with anything that came at me while I was a Master Rifleman, I think that you all can learn how to deal with the new defense drop as well. Take some time to actually think about what you are complaining about, and you will realize this is actually balancing our profession out a whole lot better than it was before.
I dont want to get some sort of retaliatory comments about this, but you guys have to be real. There is no reason that we should be an unstoppable force. We have to have weaknesses.
Oh... one more thing. You do know that if you unequip the Rifle you are carrying and equip the Launcher Pistol you lose the 2.5x damage modifier correct? Thats right. It goes away without the rifle in your hands. And this is the way I fight usually. Send in the pet, apply my 4 burns, equip launcher pistol, bleedshot, continue attack. Most of the time I dont even have to switch weapons as the enemy has already hit the ground. But... in any case, remember to unequip the rifle when you get into melee range of you target. Unequipping will allow you to take advantage of your skills you learned in Marksman like Suppression Fire, or Warning Shot.
Just think about what you guys complain about. It really urks me to hear that you all are complaining about something so trivial and easy to work around.
