Thread: WOW, I am really shocked at your attitude
I completly agree......................now we will see how many flamethrower's are in battle at months end and who was just a wannabe pushin a button. Not to drop on your thread but didn't the Devs say something like "we want classes to be dependent on each other"? Well I guess they meant skill's; but I also read that commando's are supposed to be alarge target threat notreally built for PvP likea BH is, so maybe this is a way of pushing that theory, I dont knowI'm just a printer

"I didn't grind through unarmed spec to have a melee vulnerability"
You guys really need to drop that line.... does it matter that I'm a master fencer/brawler with the tka defense line when I pick up a rifle? No, it doesn't. Its the same difference with you.. just because you have that line doesn't make a bit of difference as soon as you touch a different weapon.
Caelrie--
Are you sure? That never... ever... SOE said that commando +BH > rest. Maybe you read a different thread, m'dear. In general (All the time, as far as I know)Ivoni doesn't make baseless claims. In fact, he's on of the most respected commandos on the forums. Maybe one dev said one thing and another said another... who knows?
SOE contradicts itself all the time.
In any case, combat medics are not intended to equal BHs or Commandos, since both BHs and Commandos only abilities are their damage dealing ones.
Alexius,
Your logic is flawed, because commandos need to grind the UA skill FOR their profession. Apples and oranges, don't try to compare.

Sorry....that attitude doesn't hold much weight either. Your argument implies our unarmed specialist shouldn't exist at all when we hold any other weapon and we should get whipped on by a novice brawler that gets too close. Thats like saying a Navy Seal would get whipped in a barfight by a skinny drunk teenager in a barfight if said Seal was holding a rifle at the time. You and I both know that there would be brainmatter on the butt of that gun. Fighting skill should ALWAYS be factored in and anything in your hands is potential melee weapon (even a rock)

If it was ever said, I never saw it. And if you look at my postcount, I bet you can see I don't miss much on these boards.
The comment actually made was about power vs skillpoints invested. It didnt mention any classes at all.
I disagree with your abilities statement. It might be true in the case of the commando, but not in the bounty hunter. Bounty hunters can harvest, build camps, run fast uphill and other things just out of their profession abilities. They get far more than only "damage dealing ones".
I do see the combat medic as a combat class. How else can you explain why they can kill you in PvP using nothing but their own profession's abilities? The fact that they have more ways to kill you than almost any other profession and can damage any HAM pool at will is just icing on the cake.
Like i said, Caelrie, I think the poisons are a mistake, but thats just an opinion.
Great, so you have almost 3000 posts.
Some that I've seen have had value, others have had none at all. And the defense that others did it,for being aggressive, dare I say 'trollish', in a response is NOT valid.
Also... If i said Combat medic is not a combat class... I was wrong. However, they have such a strong advantage: healing incredible amounts of health every couple seconds, that their combat abilities should not be up to other classes' combat abilities.
"The fact that they have more ways to kill you than almost any other profession and can damage any HAM pool at will is just icing on the cake."
And you're totally right: it is sad that commandos are limited so heavily in what weapons they can use effectively.I know thats not what you meant by what you said, but its the other side of the coin.

Mistake how? I'm curious. Do you mean they do too much damage? Or that they should have never been added in the first place? Or something else?

Eh, this can be said about almost anyone. Value is all in the eyes of the beholders. Mostly when people flame me, I try to be polite and carry on the discussion. Sometimes I don't succeed. But I'd like to think I succeed more than I fail.
Also... If i said Combat medic is not a combat class... I was wrong. However, they have such a strong advantage: healing incredible amounts of health every couple seconds, that their combat abilities should not be up to other classes' combat abilities.
Well, there are two professions that completely nullify the combat medic. Both the doctor and the TK can cure both poisons and diseases. Most professions don't have to put up with another profession that can make them useless offensively. I think that deserves to be considered when weighing the combat medic.

I guess I just disagree. Combat Medics are warriors too. They just do it differently. You get to shoot way more guns than they do. And your DOTs are every bit as nasty, plus yours can affect machines.
I think Combat Medics and Commandos are fairly balanced when weighed against each other (nevermind the rest of the professions for right now) and especially considering they have identical skillpoint costs.
To the tpoic creator. It's only a game man. Relax. Don't take it so peronally. Your gloating like you finally beat up the bully that use to torment you. Not every commando is a jerk. I dont even use my flame in duels just my launcher. But this mod has to go.
Why? simple. We are being penalized for using our weapons as intended. We are not long range fighters. The flame was meant to be used up close and personal. But if we do use it like that...we get penalized for it. Also, there is more to this game than pvp.
I mean.. they shouldnt have been added in the first place... they need to be change somehow, in my opinion.. less damage, not affecting the mind pool, definitely no AoE. Something. Because, yes doctors can neutralize one person who has been poisoned at a time, if theres a doc around, if they're willing, but Doctors aren't exactly common, especially doctors who carry anti-poison. And the TK can do it, sure, but, well, thats one other class. Also, that doesn't completely nullify combat medic. just the poison, and they have tot ake time and resources to do it.And actually, combat medic counters just about every class. I think the healing+the mind damage is too powerful.
Combat medics aren't "warriors", they are support soldiers. they get 29 skill points of combat training, and 77 of non-offensive medical training. This shows, imo, where the emphasis should be.
The problem is, commando v. combat medic(assume pure for both) All combat medic has to do is dot and run. No one but a doc can stop the dot, and no one can heal mind in the field. And even if the combat medic gets hit by the commando dot, he can heal himself or douse with water.
Also, if the patch worked right, the DOT shouldn't be on machines anymore.

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I grant you the 29 points of weapons experience, and then 77 points of defensive medical training.
But then I see another 63 points, all of which helps poisons and diseases along with heals. So I count that 63 as offensive indeed.
Afterall, why does a biological warfare specialist have to be support? Merely because he can heal? I don't buy it. A combat medic in SWG isn't the same thing as a combat medic in real life. Not by a long shot. And it's my opinion that the name of the profession is throwing you off.
I can't believe how many of you are complaining about this melee mod. I started commando when we were completely broken and no one was a commando. I liked being unique, being elite . . . and you all cried for balance (not supperiority, but balance)So then they fixed us and made commando's ubber . . . almost like gods in the game. At this point everyone that wasn't a bounty hunter became a commando, and I dropped the class because I didn't want to be another sheep in the giant herd.
So you all went around killing everything you see and being almost untouchable. Even in PVP you did 300 - 500 dmg against a non-commando doing under 100 dmg to you. I watched you all laugh at everyone else, I watched you gloat about how powerful you were, and I watched as melee characters tried without success to even stand a chance against you. The only profession that stood a chance to your insane damage was an eye-shot spamming BH.
Now the Dev's bring balance to your class (what you originally cried for) and now other characters might be able to stand a chance against you. And what is your reaction . . . You cry and complain because you are no longer uber or gods . . . you actually have to use some sort of tactic (heaven forbid) and you might actually die in combat.
I respected the commando's who wanted balance in the beginning, but now I have lost all respect because now you are no better than the BH's . . . you all cry to be uber and call nerf on anyone who might stand a slight chance at killing you.
Now before you flame me, and before you start saying how your specials need to be up close and blah blah blah, let me remind you of a few things. 1) You can avoid the melee mod by kitting . . . yes you are ranged and you can kite a melee character. 2) Your flame specials still do more damage than a melee characters specials, so you can still win. 3) You do have more weapons than a flame thrower, and these weapons do a hell of a lot more damage than any other one. 4) You originally wanted balance, how about going back to that mentaliity and having some honor when playing the game. Use tactics and earn the win, don't just look for the easiest way to spam a kill.
Now let the flaming begin and tell me how unfair it is that you are not uber gods of star wars. Tell how it sucks that you have to use tactics instead of just standing there hitting flamesingle. I really don't understand why you all complain . . . you know as well as I that you are just going to change professions once the next uber-class-of-the-month comes out.
