So, is the information for the revamp coming out today? Please don't say that it should be out within the next few days....

I don't believe your thread was hijacked...It's a good idea, but the thing is that it's been discussed in the past so we are still building on the idea...Awhile back I made a proposal to the Devs for a "Launcher Rifle"...There are lots of changes and fixes coming for us in the Combat Revamp and I do think we will be happy...






Weel, good I hope it turns out well, maybe then I can be a commando again. I mastered it as my first profession way back when. Then I did my hologrinding. I still want to be a commando but after the DOT nerf I decided to be part of an even more gimped profession. Master Bounty Hunter / MAster Carbineer. I guess Im a glutten for punish meant.

A long range (64m) slow firing, high damage (blast), and accurate "Tank Buster" rifle would rock in the hands of a Commando.


I don't want to see every Commando run up and Flame DOT Heavily Armored "Tanks". I'd love to have people ask me to help defending (or attacking) a base because I can actually handle hard targets in variouse means. Just yesturday I was actually asked for help to defend vs an impending attack. AWESOME!


ME - "I can help in some situations..whatcha have in mind?"

Them - "There may be some AT-STs and we need you to DOT them."

Me - "Oh! Our DOT isn't what it used to be. Maybe get some Power Hammers in there, they do good Blast and have nice AP. I can try using my expendables from range."

Them -"Naw...we have Riflemen for that...just do what ya can then I guess."



That's OK! I'll do what I can...but someday we'll have our day! Someday soon. Anyway, I think that we'll have these options and someday we'll be wanted for our ability.


The long range Launcher Rifle is a great idea. I think StarNick and Garvin both championed this idea a while back...let's hope!

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it...TH said that before it would go live, we would be reviewing the final Public Versions (the diff is that they have more of our Q&A worked into them from the previous versions used at the summit)...We still haven't seen those "Public Versions" in the Correspondent forum...


So I hate to say it, and I know this will upset many (ducks and covers) but as to when they are going public with the docs is anyone's guess at this point...I highly doubt they'll be in this weeks Friday Feature since we haven't seen anything yet...


In the meantime, until they get posted I'll keep dropping as many hints as I can...So here is my latest...The Commando profession after the revamp will still cost 169 pts to get Master Commando...but in many ways, it will be possible to think of your template as a 250 pt Commando post Revamp...








Tanks dropped the same hint on the BH forum. My guess in that there implimenting some kind of synergy system between the professions.



So if you are a master commando , and then a master pistoleer you get some kind of bonuses, or specials that work together.



Its just too bad that we won't see any of this until SWG 2 : An Empire done right!



Sorry Im a little impatient. Seems there isn't much else to do but wait. Im one of those people who get destructive when they are bored.

Master Commando/Master Rifleman = Heavy Damage Long Range Commando Specialist.

Master Commado/TKM =Heavy Damage Short Range Commando Specialist.


As opposed to now...


Master Commado/Master Rifleman = Master Rifleman

Master Commando/TKM =TKM

What about taking the Launcher Pistol and covert it into more of arifle typeweapon that does Rifleman like (not the same exactly) type specials with a slant more to heavy damage then speed, but with good accuracy and 64mrange on the specials...


Think of it this way...what if you could basically use your LP with Rifleman specials?






the way i see it we are useless against most hight level mob's due to the high level res in Heat , but if we had a Blast rifle well then we could kill an ATsT again and some other i think this is one of the best ideas we had on this forum in a long time and we have some really good ideas


so commando replace lancher pistol with Blast rifle with rifleman type specials ,and a range of 64m

ooh.... I just wish they'd make the HAR useful ma'self. I disagree tho, there are MOBs that have low resist to acid (granted not many in the limited content we've been givin so far) I just wish the HAR would do a Poison tick like the FT does a fire tick. Just my thot on it tho. I mean, acid does burn continuously til nuetralized right?

Commandos are the heavy weapon wielding class of SWG, meaning we should have the heavy pieces. The Launcher Pistol doesn't seem very heavy to me. Remaking it into a heavy (big) rifle type weapon would suit us better than a small pistol.


A weapon that is good on range is needed I think, like said above several times.


The HAR is a good weapon model I think.


The beam rifle graphics are already in the game, perhaps it can be used to something useful?

The HAR sucks plain and simply. It has no use. Fixing it wouldn't help since every high end MOB is resistant to it anyway.

What about aLauncher Rifle. (as in blast damage)


Give it flame thrower damage andthe same attacks as the HAR. Make it light or medium AP. Give it the big explosions of the Lancher pistol.


You would increase you potential against High level MOBs.


Think. This rifle and some dabbling into Pistoleer and TKA you can have an awesome weapon and a capped melee defense.

One more thing. It should be a LONG RANGE weapon. the FT is really made for short range ass kicking. Blast away at long range with the Blast Rifle, when they move in for the kill, whip out the FT and serve BBQ for lunch.
