Thread: Suggested new Commando weapon

I was a Commando at launch, back when the only useful thing was the blast pistol.
This got me thinking.
The HAR sucks plain and simply. It has no use. Fixing it wouldn't help since every high end MOB is resistant to it anyway.
I know you guys have talked about getting an assault rifle in its place.
I think I have a better Idea!
What about aLauncher Rifle. (as in blast damage)
Give it flame thrower damage andthe same attacks as the HAR. Make it light or medium AP. Give it the big explosions of the Lancher pistol.
You would increase you potential against High level MOBs.
Think. This rifle and some dabbling into Pistoleer and TKA you can have an awesome weapon and a capped melee defense.

Commando needs master marksman, thats rifles pistol and carbine skills. we have a pistol and a "rifle" in the HAR it needs to be some sort of mid range heavy carbine with its own specials. merge ft and har in same tree and give har light armor penetration

Just popping in here to offer up some more discussion fodder (and please don't take any of this to mean it's in the Combat Revamp...just a few ideas I've kicked around for awhile)...
What about taking the Launcher Pistol and covert it into more of arifle typeweapon that does Rifleman like (not the same exactly) type specials with a slant more to heavy damage then speed, but with good accuracy and 64mrange on the specials...
Think of it this way...what if you could basically use your LP with Rifleman specials?

This is kind what I was getting at. That would be great if they did that.
I merely suggested that they use the FT specials in attempt to cut the work load.
I know you'll hate me for this but if you have this weapon I don't see it having a DOT.
I don't think you need a mid range weapon, or even rifle specials.
The class seems to be gear towards getting up close and nasty.
So I think can the HAR and keep the launcher pistol, as it makes Commando and Pistoleer synergetic.

This goes back to one of your earlier posts on borrowing existing specials from other proffessions. It's not a bad idea. It might be even easier on the Dev's if they kept it a pistol, gave it AP, and added working PISTOLEER specials. Working being the key word. Fanshot with LP would be an impressive attack, if it only had AP.
But with slightly more work for the Devs, the much more effective rifle specials on a launcher rifle would be outstanding.

Not a rifle, please god not a rifle.
Carbine people, carbine. We dont' want that higher speed cap post-revamp.
I think we have enough molasses weapons, if we miss, we're toast (or at least our enemy is not) so I'd MUCH rather have speed over damage. Then, if you miss, it's only one second till you can try hitting again rather than 6.
But maybe that's just me.

I never thought of that! I do like it, but, this weapon would take the place of quite a few other weapons. Basically if we get the FT mods adjusted then they would be the same thing. I'd like it even more if we got some Commando Rifle specials and a weapon such as this would rock! I like the idea man.

Or with this "launcher rifle" if we could threaten an area that would mean we then have the ability to damage multiple targets in it's blast radious. You've got me thinkin now!.....that must be why I hurt.

I don't believe your thread was hijacked...It's a good idea, but the thing is that it's been discussed in the past so we are still building on the idea...Awhile back I made a proposal to the Devs for a "Launcher Rifle"...There are lots of changes and fixes coming for us in the Combat Revamp and I do think we will be happy...
