Very cool weapon, Garvin...

But until they give specials in the Commando profession itself, and not the ones in the Marksman profession, I kind of fail to see the point in it.

Its fine to give us a weapon (a la Launcher Pistol) that is class specific, however, don't make it so that I have to use an entire other profession to make it even remotely effective.I have put 169 points into Commando. Dont make it to where I have to spend 63 more to be competitive. Going Carbineer to go along with Commando to use the underslung carbine should enhance it, not make it a necessity.

Now, if you guys are revamping the skill prereqs, fine. If not....

THis is a good point. I wouldn't want to be stuck with another Launcher Pistol type of weapon that would basically require that I get skill points in another profession just so that I can be effective with the said weapon...even if this means that the specials are confined to commando, I would also want tohave decent speed and accuracywith this commando certified weapon. I wouldn't be against enhancing my overall effectivenes bydabbling in another profession...I just want to be effective with my basic 169 skill point Commando profession.

Why does it have to be so complex??

Why not use the KISS method? Keep It Simple, Stupid?

I dont want these guys to program a checksum if a Commando is using the US versus a Carbineer, then try and balance it out accordingly.

If bonuses to the weapon (general ranged weapon / speed) bonuses are put into the Commando trees, then it needs to be spread from tree to tree (NOT in one tree) and at the higher tiers to avoid dabblers.

Spread pistol/rifle/carbine mods out over tier 3 boxes for instance that would work beutifuly.

Sounds great.

I think making specials generic would lead to problems... Imagine a flame with 1150 damage doing eye shots imaging the macro /flame1 /flame2 /flamecone1 /flamecone2 /healthshot 2 /healthshot2... ouch...

But you are forgetting a few publically revealed facts about the CU in your arguement as well as the pre-cursor I put in about the generic specials idea...

1) Spamming will be a thing of the past...anyone who tries to spam, thanks to the new HAM system, will find themselves with no offense, countered, and without a leg to stand on...Go back and re-read TH's post regarding the HAM changes and focus in on Action Pools...

2) In my idea, not every special would work with every weapon...FlameSingles and FlameCones would ONLY work on a FlameThrower and using any other permissable special with the FT would be subject to the same speed issues we currently face...So specials like Last Ditch or other big damage specials that would just cause to much damage via an FT would not be usable with that weapon, but may be usable with the HAR (lesser damage capability) or one of our other new weapons.

So,using your example,by the time you got through with flamecone2 you might need a bit of action pool recharge time before you could continue on...while another Commando (maybe the one you are facing) using lesser damage capable generic specials with their FT, but because they were less damage, they also cost less HAM pool and therefore they can keep up the barage and take advantage of your folly using to many bigger specials at too quick a pace...You'll have to learn a bit of better strategy...

Remember also that every single specials will be tested and "adjusted" on the sandbox to make sure everything balances out...

Edit: Added link to TH's HAM post in the IN Concept forum...it's not complete, but it gives you the general idea behind "pools"

That Underslung carbine looks pretty neat. Where did it come from? Is it something someone just made up, or was it in a .tre file? It looks like it would be auto or semi-automatic.

Either way, that would be pretty sweet if we rounded off our arsenal with something like that.

It was in a .tre file...but like I said earlier, nothing from a .tre file is ever guarenteed to make it into the game until a red name says so...for all we know it could just be a NPC weapon (like the cybernetics people got so excited abotu awhileback)or a doodle that is never meant to be used...

Even if a red name says they'll make it into the game...it could still be total BS, they lie to us all the time.

Since the end-game of SWG is Jedi the Jedi population will only continue to grow. So the ultimate underlying question is how will the new HAM/special capacity compare to the force bar of the Jedi.It sounds good when fighting a carbineer or pikeman or a rifleman but on Corbantis if yuo step into Theed or Coronet you're chances are far greater to meet an overt Jedi than they are to meetan overt rifleman. This is why I believe somewhere down the line ther will have to be some other elite elite proffessions added to the game. Anyway bring on the E-web

LOL I know you can't actually say anything definite but can you answer whether you are you talking about in the CU or after the CU? (Jedi)

To be completely honest, I don't know...It was something mentioned at the Summit and spoken of only a couple of times since then...it's never been verfied if it was pre-CU, from the CU, or post-CU that it was going to happen, but it was verified that it is GOING to happen...

The Devs haven't revealed all cards yet regarding Jedi...and when it happens even the Jedi will say "hey, that's actually pretty cool"...The SWG purists will say "about time"...The BH's will say "run and hide, you will be found"...

It might even make some peoplebelieve the Devs kinda know what they are doing in regards to Jedi...

All I know is I intend to be there when this change gets added to the game on Day 1 of it's addition...

I think I might be reading there minds a little bit.

Step 1) make it long and complicated and mysterius path to jedi

Step 2) as more people fiond out path, change it to something more monotonus (kinda like how jedi were in the time of the Republic, over confident and larg in numbers)

Step 3) Implement a Publish that is named something like.... I duno..... "The Jedi Cleansing"

Step 4) In this publish give them some more power, some hiding abilitys, take away some combat abilitys.

Step 5) Repeat

RagNoRock Kelnek - King of the Zabrak
Tahina Kelnek - Queen of the Humans
The Juggernaut of Bloodfin
Destroying terrorist Scum for 3 years and counting.
