Thread: BH thoughts on nerfing commandoes
@ sarnesereg
you are right but:
you dont see that many bh doing that, because they dont need the LLC to kill anyone .. they can kill everyoneeasy from longer ranges with apistol or a carabin ..
"Q-3PO stated the LEAST Mastered Profession was Bounty Hunter."
The reason is the investigation line is brutal to go through.
Veers, please list the damage of a flamethrower against a target using a pistol (once the heavy weapons are changed to range damage we will do more damage against melee professions and less damage against carbineers/rifleman).
WARNING: all following damages will be in pvp and all characters are high end (none of that welli am a novice rifleman and i shoot slow garbage).
A flame thrower might do a bit over a thousand damage in a special against a player without armor. Just to be interesting, lets say 1400 damage per special and one special every 10 seconds (pretty good). That is 140 dps between which the commando cannot heal.
A bh can do 350 damage eye shots every second using a good scatter pistol (with a 30 damage krayt tissue if that).
a rifleman basically has over a thousand dps with a prenerf t21.
Both a bh and a rifleman mantain their effectiveness against targets with armor because they have armor piercing, but a commando does not and thus loses 75% of his (or her) damage.
The point is that the flamethrower is overpowered compared to other weapons.
Totally untrue. I crank out as much damage out of my FWG5 over the same time period as a commando. Commando hits me for 1200 damage in PvP on the first shot with a bunch of 500 dot ticks every5 or soseconds. I crank out 500-1100 damage every 2 seconds.
So let's calculate this out.
Commando:
1 sec - 1200 damage
5 sec - 500 damage from burn
10 sec - 500 damage from burn
15 sec - 500 damage from burn
Total: 2700 damage total
Me:
1 sec - 200 damage
2 sec - 500 damage
4 sec - 500 damage
6 sec - 500 damage
8 sec - 500 damage
10 sec - 500 damage
12 sec - 500 damage
14 sec - 500 damage
Total: 4100 damage
Commandos have what is considered front loaded damage. You have lots of it. You can do mass damage in the first few seconds. But then .... your power curve drops. And quite steeply I might add. Every other weapon class out there can't match the raw initial punch power. All they have to do is survive the initiall punch. Then commandos are pretty much toast after that.

I think you miss the point. You basically are required to have doctor buffs to survive 1 blast from a flamethrower. I dont care what kind of buffs you have you will not survive the effects of a burn with just a buff.. You will need to heal it or find some water. The point is that regardless of how buffed you are you will be able to stand 10x as many pistol/rifle/carbine as you can flamethrower. As a former master commando my opinion is that heavy weapons flame/llc are overpowered... also Knockdown shouldnt hit so often and dizzy should wear off after a couple tries at standing. PVP just really isnt that fun when 1 shot basically wins the fight. Its like playing battlefield 1942 with really bad lag. They need to reduce the damage and add different types of attacks so that there is at least a little strategy to the game.
You are absolutely not required to have doctor buffs to survive 1 FS2 (the strongest single special) from a flame thrower. You are, however, required to have armor. A good set of composite will cut the damage a FT does to you by 75%. That takes a 1500 damage killing shot to a 375 damage burn, after which you'll have 8-10 seconds to so whatever you like in retaliation while the commando stands helpless.
There's some strategy for 'ya.
