Maybe not a nerf for commandos but a deffinate kick in the balls for BH who DO switch out weapons VERY FAST.

I lay down confusion - KD then sitch to scatter for torso, then back to carbs or maybe LLC depending if KD stuck. This all happens very very quickly and if any delay is built in will screw BH utility to switch on the fly big time.

I call it a nerf

EXACTLY...That's my point...it's not a NERF to us, but it can be considered a NERF to other professions...

And as such, we have 2 things as a profession we have to consider:

1) Does removing speed change weapon macro'ing help our hurt Commandos when it comes to PvP (when we fight those who do that)?

2) If it is seen as something that doesn't hurt us when other professions speed macro against us, then I say we support the other Professions in making surethis doesn't go live...

I'm all about supporting other professions, ESPECIALLY Bounty Hunters since we Hybrid profession need to stand together...but if this is seen as something by our community that will work in our favor, we must weigh the options before taking a stand either way...

That's whyour first task was to determine the effect on Commandos...Second task is to determine, since it doesn't appear to hurt Commandos significantly, if it helps Commandos to the point we should stand for it or against it...

Thoughts?

Thats a huge nerf to bounty hunters. They have to switch weapons often times every second. They take one shot with the carb to kd then they switch to the pistol or the LLC. It may not hurt commando's but its gonna really hurt BH's. Just what that class needs.

You do not attack within those 5 seconds. As a Lightsaber Master i hit at 1 a second with any saber that i have crafted but not after switching to another style or even to unarmed.

Im aware that it is on TEST, but if its not brought up and discussed now its going to be on LIVE.

Youre right, its not just a commando nerf, its a nerf for everyone.

Maybe im part of the "1%" of commandos that swap weapons out quite a bit, but this 1% isnt liking the idea of a 5 second delay when switching weapons at ALL.

I am waiting for Dev confirmation on this issue (have been before you made the post)...but so far I haven't seen any confirmation that this change is slated to go live anytime soon...And some have reported it as just another of the many bugs on TC2 currently...Not anything to panic people over yet...

I see your point somewhat..but ONLY with our Disposables...and even then, there is a Live Delay with them...(they're more of a disposable special atm....delay in it on Combat Que, delay afterwards)

So heh, really nothing bad here for us...

If this is true, the only time it would really hurt a Commando is switching from a Non-Commando weapon to the FT (we don't typically use our other Commando weapons)...as in...Using VKs then a 5 second delay to arm our FT for a /flamesingle2 followed by a 6 - 10 delay for cool-down on the special...That's the worst case scenerio (hit, switch delay, special, delay)...

But other reports I see coming in (like in the BH forum) are that it's more like a 3 second delay, and it's only when you've had a weapon equiped for less then 5 seconds...So if equip my VKs then immediately try and equip my FT, there will be a delay...but if I equip my VKs and do an /unarmedhit3 and a couple of other hits for 5 seconds, I can then equip my FT with no delay...one flamesingle will eat up the delay with it's on built in delay so again, no issue...

Hopefully, even with the devs at Fan Fest, we'll hear back soon on this issue...but I wouldn't get concerned with it just yet...

So where is the Major hurt to a Commando in all this? Please point it out...

I haven't tested this at all, so I have no idea how it really works. However, based on what has been said, here is the problem I believe you are skipping over...

According to your logic, this only applies to commando if he wants to switch between commando skills and the skills of another class (like TKA in your example). The faulty assumption is that commandos will only be using flamethrowers because our other weapons suck. The problem is that our weapons won't be broken forever.

What if a commando wants to switch between flamethrower and HAR/LP mid battle? Isn't that getting nerfed too? Shouldn't we be able to switch beween the weapons of our own class without penalty?

Ok Garvin...just read the rest of the thread (probably should have in the first place) and I agree that the weapon nerf, as you described it, is not that big of a deal (although it still pisses me off because I sometimes switch weapons briefly during battle--ex: switch to LP to bleed, then switch to Flamer to finish it off).

Since I have no access to TC2, what about the armor delays? Have you confirmed that at all?

I havent seen the armor bug since i dont have access to armor on TC2 (cant find any smiths around to make any or sell it). However, people are reporting that tthere is a system message that states you have to wait for 3 seconds before that piece of armor is equipped. From what ive read its per piece of armor. The message is just like the one you get when calling a vehicle in the wild.

Like Garvin stated, this is just on test center right now but if the devs dont get feedback we may eventually see it on live.

It would be my guess is that this is how it will probably progress for us...at least until we see how this change effects the Combat Balance...And that won't been seen until the CB Test Server goes online...then we'll see if it hurts or helps the future Commando...

We also have to take into account that how we are now isn't how our profession will be after the CB...we still don't know the facts on that yet...If this change goes through and we find it hurts us after the CB, then we can work on getting the devs to change it...just like we helped to get them to change the 2.5x Melee Damage Bonus penalty...

You guys remember the panic here when word of the Fire Blanket hit? I was enraged!

Most of us were, but here's the differance.

We were completely in the dark on that one. Most of us went off specualtion that anyone would be able to use them and posted accordingly. While LordSec stuggled to get answers, the panic and anger grew. Finally, we found out that they are Doc use only and at expence of thier mind...not the profession killer we feared.

Now I'm not saying that our outrage, posts, and work "Behind the Lines" by LordSec didn't change it. I'm saying that for the most part we were in the dark.

This time, we are not so much in the dark. Is it a potential Nerf? Maybe. Is it a Nerf? Not yet...so I say we keep our eyes open and let Garvin keep us informed on any changes.

Listen guys...if we as a commando communtiy grab our torches and pitchforks everytime there is speculation of an unconfirmed Nerf on TC, we'll start to lose some of the credibility we've gained over the past year. I say we keep our eyes open, lock and load, and if it's confirmed there by Garvin....(In the immortal words of Russel Crow in Gladiator), UNLEASH HELL!

Hang in there....I think this one will be ok.

The biggest problem with this for me is for the defenses. How many of us TKM / MCom go in, knock down, flame, and then switch back to knucklers for the melee defenses? I do this all the time and would not be able to survive without it. Forcing me to take beats for 5 seconds with my FT out is pretty much asking for it in my opinion.

I dont think that this is going to be huge, but would rather see first hand in combat and then give a major opinion.

Well, as far as the game is concerned you still have your ft equiped until the special timer expires, even if it shows you with your VK equipped.
