Thread: Commando Question
I currently have Explore 4, though I hope to drop scout entirely when mounts come out (and may be forced to do so before then even).
Everything everyone says here is correct,in my opinion though, Pistol Techniques is better than Dirty Fighting. Stopping Shot is almost exactly identical to Last Ditch, and Fan Shot is far superior (on a damage per second basis). On top of that Pistol Techniques gives you some very high resists. The only reason to possibly favor Dirty Fighting is for the ranged knockdown, Low Blow.
If you must have a ranged knowchdown and have no spare points fopr TKA (or you must have a RANGED knockdown) then Smuggler's the way to go, but you're giving up a very good skill set and the best single defense against knockdown in the game (+30)
I love my template, Ive treid both the pistoleer and smuggler tree. I have found TKA to work the best for me though. Here is my template:
Master Commando
TKA 0100 (KD is great plus the defense and meditation)
CH 3200 (I simply love my graul mauler)
Imperial Commando for Invictus
I'm currently a carbineer, and love it - but am thinking of trying out commando as well. I have read through these forums, and understand the fact that the commandos can't hit the broad side of a star destroyer many times....but the attacks are pretty darn strong.
I want to be a master creature handler above all else on my new character, and pick whatever combat I possibly can. Would commando and flamethrower be a good pick? From what I've read, flamethrower is the most liked weapon in this game. Comments on this please?

I would still need to master marksman and unarmed prior to going commando..then getting the massive amount of combat XP required to get novice commando.
I'm more into what I can do in PvE than PvP in this game. I really don't enjoy doing huge faction stuff all that much. Would flame 4 and master CH be good enough to deal a good amount of damage in PvE?
Speaking of damage, assuming that I have flame 4 and a good flamethrower, 1. how fast would my attacks be in PvE? and 2. how much damage could I send out?
I would like to see if commando will deal out more damage than my carbine in the long run.

Doesn't the flame DOT still kill them in the long run?
The flame DOT is not what it used to be. Before, that's all we needed to kill.
I'm a Master Commando, working on Carbineer. I'm 0-0-0-2 currently. The carbineer's ability to do ranged KD is nice, but I still find myself switching back to my dependable high damage flamer to kill when the going gets tough.
When Buffed and armored, I can clear out the whole Imp hyperdrive facility Rebels in under 20 minutes, solo. It would probably take me longer to kill that # of rebels with my fast 1.9 spd enhanced E11 carbine.
