TKMs are a bit strong....too strong in my opinion.
So far I just made unarmed 4, master marksman, and am working to novice commando as we speak. I think I will mix in some pistol skills when I have no choice left but to use that instead of the flamethrower.
I appreciate all the kind comments here. I'm thinking that 0/4/4/0 would maybe be a good setup for what I want to do? I still need a lot in CH, but at this rate I won't master anything but it shouldn't be all bad.
I like PvE fighting, not really PvP - so any template that helps me in PvE is very very helpful. Ideas, and comments are helpful - thanks

JaekRi had it right but let me clarify a little more. Our accuracies are broken up into specific weapons. For instance, at master we have something like 110 to Flame Thrower Accuracy. The rocket launcher also has its own accuracy branch. The problem comes into play where the skill tapes and armor attachments that drop are generalized to adding to Heavy Weapons Accuracy. Apparently the game system for accuracy and speed modifiers cannot tell that the FT and other HWs are in fact heavy weapons. (They all give heavy weapons experience at least) This means that none of the Skill Tapes or Armor attachments will help. And if I confused you, then read JaekRi's post again.

When you capped at speed, do you mean the speed cap? If so, then NO. No one can fire a rocketlauncher at te speed cap.

Hey guys, is it just me or is flame cone 1 broken? If not is there some special trick to using it? Does flame cone 2 actually work and attack multiple targets ? ? What's the best way to kill Janta's as a commando bc as a swordsman a few melee area 2 attacks on the lair would kill all janta's and net u 31k . And also even at flame 4 the flame thrower is awfully slow, what is a good speed on a flame thrower wep? Thanks from a new commando.

Flamecone1 works quite well, but there are two things you need to keep in mind. First, AoE attacks generally will not do damage to secondary targets unless those targets are already engaged in combat. Second, it's a forward-arc cone. So, what does this mean for you? Well, to start with, you'll need to piss everything off that you want to set fire to. Since I'm faction grinding at the moment this is pretty easy—just walk up to the base I'm farming and give the NPCs a second or two to notice me. Next, you have to keep them all within the AoE cone to get it to work. I've found that the good old FPS standby of circle strafing (such as it is in this game) works quite nicely. If you're really lazy, like me, hit CTRL+Shift+S and Num Lock. This will set your view (3rd person) to automatically rotate, and will set you to always move forward—the circle is a little large for my taste, but it seems to work well. Just spam flamecone1 and watch the XP messages roll in.

I am approaching master commando atm, when I get Master what other professions / skill trees should I get to go along with Master Commando. I am looking to improve my combat capablilties.

i am LOVING:
master commando
tka 4004
pistols 0043
novice medic
you NEED tk melee defense because of commandos short range, and the pistols make the launcher useful (plus good state defense).
medic isalways good too.
i have yet to find a better template on TC2 for what i do.
