So, can anyone tell me what's up with my dewback? I shouldn't have been able to store him, and I shouldn't be able to call him, but I can. He's cl4(20) and my cl skill is 16. Will I only be able to call him until he surpasses my cl skill, or shouldn't I be able to call him at all? Also, how come I can store at least 7 pets in my datapad when my skill mod is 6?

Cheers,

Anyndel

So, please, if you're going to WoW or CoH, please hurry up and go! Then, in 8 months, I'll come along to the forums for those games and laugh as I read the same tired complaints "Whaa, this game sucks, _instert_game_here_ will be better than this pos." Things will get better, and they will move in the right direction, but you need to have patience and give it time. Things in the gaming industry don't happen overnight. Be thankful you don't have the E&B team working here. They hardly did anything with that game for a year and it cost them their jobs, and the game itself. Although, I'd be willing to bet a part of that was EA's fault.

ANYWAY, talk about getting off topic. Back to my original question. Anyone have any suggestions for a really good combat partnership prof for CH. Is it worth me getting novice Ranger to help find critters, or should I just drop trapping from scout and spend those points elsewhere? At the moment I'm novice Pikeman (xx1x), novice CH (x1x1), nearly master scout, marksman (4xx4), and some medic thrown in for good measure (2113). I was thinking of dropping marksman and doing master pikeman with master CH. I'd set my pets to guard while I tank for them. I belt something with my lance and let my pets go spastic on it while I keep swinging away. Does anyone know if this works in practice, or is this the quick way to cloning heaven? If I go melee, should I think about dropping pike and working up the swordsman road instead since I've heard they can PVE just about anything?

As I said before, I always thought Scout, Ranger, CH made a good combo on paper. However, since our pets aren't the weapons they should be, this is kinda out of the question now.

One last quick question. What's up with my datapad? My stored pets mod says +6, but I can store at least 7 pets (haven't tried 8). I only found this out after I bought a mountain dewback for 5k off another CH (I was probably ripped off, but there's a heard of them living near me and I kinda fell in love with them) and the dewback went into my datapad, no fuss. Also, fully grown, he's cl20 and I can only do cl16 atm, so how come I can call him? Can I only call him up until he surpasses my cl skill lvl?

Cheer in advance,

Wait a sec don't tell me you made a complaint already about your pet not being the weapon there suppost to be??

Give it time? The game has been released for over 1 year now how much time do they need? MMoRPG's have been started and released in less time that that.. At release your pets were the weapons they were suppost to be but the Dev's in there wisdom have nerfed them and boosted other weapons instead of just doing one or the other they double hit it.

Anyways back on topic:

The dewback is a mount and mounts are not counted against your pet count for CHer..

Nope, not a complaint, simply a statement of fact based on your perceptions.

Hmm... So my opinion carries no weight because it doesn't tie in with yours, is that it? Also, I don't know too many true PVE'ers who don't have both a ranged and melee skill to survive. Some of the best PVE combos in the game are rifleman-swordsman and rifleman-pikeman. Every combat orented player, whether PVE or PVP will have a support profession they use to boost their main career choice. Oh, sure, there are the Bounty Hunters and Commandos who take out Jedi for light relief, but many of them use Combat Medic for support.

Things have changed, and they will continue to change throughout the life of this game, that much is unavoidable. And CH is one of the things that's changed. Now you can either sit around crying into your sleeves or you can suck it up and make the most of what you've got NOW!

Ok, so CH WAS a viable combat class a year ago. Guess what? It isn't NOW! So, you USED to be able to yank out 3 lvl 65 rancors and be unfairly overpowered. Guess what? You can't NOW! At the end of the day, the role of CH has changed. If anything, it's a combat support role now. My animals help me in battle while I tank for them. Do I have a problem with this? No. Do I enjoy being smacked around by critters? No. But I'd rather I go down than my pets. If it gets hairy I just yell 'bed' and all my pets are gone before they get incapped during a fight. My pets are there to support me, I'm not there to support them while they do all the work and take all the bruises.

And, incidenatally, I've had my account since September, so I've been here a while.

Surely the bit about dewbacks can't be right because that would mean I could have an infinite number of dewbacks and cu-pas if they don't count to my total. Also, my dewback isn't trained as a mount.

There is a known bug with BE pets that lets you call out far above your level if the pet is not full grown. It has been around a while. Once it is full grown it will fix itself.

And one last thing about the 'nerf'. It is not a nerf. This is not what 'everyone else' is complaining about in other profession boards. They intentionally broke our profession in anticipation of something that has not happened and may not happen for over a year from when they broke it. I will say it again. This is not how CH is designed to be. This has been admitted by the developers. All we want is for it to be brought back to normal or have them do the rebalance they promised.

Well I think I may go back to pikeman. I was master for like 2 months then dropped it for grinding purposes but I think now that all that crap is over I may return. I just have a few questions on simple things.

First how much extra speed do I need if im going to go master brawler, master pike to be capped?

Does being speed capped as a pikeman make a big diference?

I think my template is gonna be 4030 Doc, Master brawler, master pikeman. Im sure this template is used often but I am curious how it does in PVP. I am heading back to pikeman just to try pvping with it.

I will probably also pick up the force melee speed and accuracy trees aswell ifthey actually works.

Any pvp advice is welcome aswell.

Thanks everyone

1) 20 speed if you have master brawler until you have 100, but you will only need 95 speed (15) for 90% of the pikes you will find, you cap at a 6.9 speed weapon i beleive at 95, and i havent seena polearm with higher speed than that.

2) being speed capped makes a huge difference, dizzy'ing and kd'ing in pvp with dot weapons at the speed cap is awesome. if you do decide to pve, orusehigh dmgpolearms to dodmg in pvp,it makes a big difference too, the damage output is much higher

I love Commando, even though I got gipped out of my Master Commando badge (I didn't respec to it, but because I still have my token respec available, I didn't get the badge ). I was one of the first Commandos in SWG, and I remember when we could only use the Launcher Pistol and it gave Pistol Experience. I remember when I came back and Commando was doing MASSIVE damage, but couldn't hit anything.

I came back and just decided to keep Combat Medic. Thing is, I love Combat Medic AND Commando. Combat Medic is a lot better than it used to be (ok, it used to be way overpowered, but the way it is now, PERFECT!)

However, like a tool or a FOTM'er, I dropped most of Commando and put it into Pistoleer. As you can see, I couldn't bring myself to drop it completely. What am I without at least a little Commando? I haven't used a grenade since a year ago, hell I can't even FIND a grenade to use. All I see are low CL grenades with no cert that people use to grind Combat experience.

I don't need to be a god, I just want to know: do you guys think it's feasible to go Master Commando/Master Combat Medic? I plan on getting FS up so I can have the second character slot, which means I'll need to devote 24 points into Force Sensitive stuff. That means I'll be pretty much a Master Commando/Master Combat Medic/Marksman 0/0/0/4 with the ability to go 3 into one of the Marksman trees.

Another guy was asking the same thing about MC/MCM, I dont think many of us know much about the template...but Id definately suggest you should pick up some specials from another ranged profession too if you can. Commandos do not have the ability to generate the kind of damage we can generate with specials such as improved legshot or bodyshot...instead we have utility which brings us up to a bit lower the level of other ranged professions through our DoT and elemental damage (ie we can hity for 1200 dmg with overcharge shot, tack on 90 heat elemental damage from the PFT, and then tack on 370 DoT damage per tick...it *roughly* is similar to how I can use improved legshot with my elite carbine for 1600-1700 dmg, the main problem is we're not suppoused to be on a carbineer's level of damage, and that DoT doesn't go for every attack nor always stick).

with really on 4 ranged specials i would not recomend it, you would never run out of action from commando weapons, but you would also only be doing about 300-600 damage.

You would be some one who sets people on fire and debufs them then hides and runs till they near enuf to death to be killed.

I heard that, mathematically, alternating between Aimed Shot and Placed Shot (or was it Ranged Shot?) ends up producing more damaging than spamming specials over the same period of time (because of the cooldown timers). However, I don't know how much validity there is to that statement, has anyone tried it out?

My biggest worry is that I won't have the utility specials that I used on my Commando when I first came back. Even though it had a crappy duration, my group was impressed when I Dazed a group of enemies that someone had pulled, then rooted the ones that resisted.

Well, currently, I'm 4333 rebel pilot, and aced Imperial Inquistion, and right now, flying is more a pain in the @$$ then anything. The sensitivity on my mouse is a bit high, but I am in a JSF afterall. I could use any hints I can get, because with my excellent piloting skills, when I'm behind another ship, my mouse jerks me in another direction and refuses to turn for a few seconds. Should I just go get a joystick? If so, what do I want?

I'm really surprised you've lasted this long without a joystick...I think the upgrade will really let you shine your skills as a pilots, you would be surprised how much easier it is with a good joystick combo.

The aboslute number one thing I have to tell you about a joystick...DO NOT CHEAP OUT!! I've gone through so many joysticks from the earliest X-Wing game up until now. Logitech, Thrustmaster, Microsoft, generic brands...tried them all, and the one I'm finally satisfied with is Saitek.

I'd recommend the Saitek X45...you'll have a throttle controller and a joystick, and let me tell ya how you can just rip through enemies with this thing. You pull the throttle with your left, as well as roll and (if you keymap as I did) handle all targetting. With the joystick, I have one cooley (hat) for POV in the cockpit, the other to select components on my targets. Match speed, missile launch, and boost are on there as well. I have the main trigger fire one weapon, and it I pull the pinkie switch back while firing it'll rotate through weapons quickly, firing or just selecting (pull/hold).

I know they had a new model of this coming out, could be already...but yes, definitely recommend Saitek.
