My second ever post but the response was more than enough to make me put something up. I'm almost to commando, just need about 30k combat xp. I've read with growing doubts about the class since I got SWG. This seems to be a kick in the teeth to the whole class...pistoleers get pampered while the most broken class in the game gets thrown in the dirt. Not a single post so far in this thread has been a positive response, and seeing as its more than 100 posts that is very impressive. If nothing more is heard from the devs soon I'm giving up on the worthless profession.

I think I'm going to go take my own suggestion and go play Commandos 2 for a while at least in there I can imagine what a commando in SWG should be like instead of the gimps that we actually are.

For anyone who doesn't understand this EQ reference, the first Community Relations manager created an 'actual' character and made some 'demonstrations' to prove that a class wasn't broken. I think it was bards. A year later when they had hired a new community guy (absor) they fixed the problems that Abashi insisted were working as intended.

LOL And another great SoE line "Alchemy is working!"

Remember the big Necromancer sit in where John Smedly, the Prez of Verant at the time, came in and splurted out some stuff about "working as intended" and then left in a zonewide shout of "Go Rams!" SoE is quite adept at cheezing off their player base.

As a BH I feel sorry for you guys, and I really was looking forward to playing along side some commandos in game. It would have been awesome to see a rocket fly into the side of a Kimo or Krayt, or see it dance in agony as it was set ablaze by a flamethrower. Im sorry that you guys got reamed so bad. It really is an injustice to the work you put in to getting to the profession.

The very thought that a rocket launcher or even an acid rifle is for close range, let alone sitting inside the model of the creature, quite stupid. You would think the developers of a game would know these sorts of things. Especially one that created a FPS/RTS called Planetside. Albeit not a great thrilling joyride of a game, but you didnt have to crawl inside the polygons of a target to shoot your weapons at them.

And to suggest that these weapon skills are only situational is again, stupid. These are what you are given to work with as a commando. This would be like SoE telling the Bounty Hunters that they cant use their carbines and pistols and LLCs(another borked Heavy Weapon), but to use rifles from the marksman tree instead. Well if I wanted to just be a Marksman I would have stopped at Master Marksman now wouldnt I?

Heres to hoping the devs stop wearing sphincter neckties.

This is a joke. You've pretty much taken what could have been one of the most powerful and fun professions in the game and driven it into the ground. You've given our weapons an ideal range of 0. Now we'll almost surely die when we go point blank in order to get decent damage. Everyone other combat profession has a one-up on us: They can be accurate from 10 meters away. At 10 meters away, my weapons do more than half the damage they do at 0 meters. All Commando is is a secondary profession.

You want to keep our weapons rare by tossing in a hard to find recourse. That just gives weaponsmiths a reason to jack the prices of commando weapons to an unreasonal price. If you want to make the weapons rare, that's fine, but if you're going to keep them rare, make them actually WORTH spending 20k on. You claim these weapons do massive damage with special moves, right? Oh, but the special move delay is a good 10-15 seconds. The devs claim that this is because specials deal out huge damage. I think this is the devs' way to keep Commandos from dominating in PVP, since PC health bars are from around 900 HP to 1200 HP (give or take). The only problem is, NPC's health bars are around 4k to 8k. Dealing 1500+ damage is awesome against NPC's. Of course, the devs are claiming that we need ot use the default attacks, which rarely do more than 300 damage points. This prevents commandos from earning XP on high level planets because the high level NPC's deal more than 800+ damage. Doing 300+ damage with a 1500+ damage move tossed in every once in a while is not good when you're taking on something that deals 800+ damage every hit. Of course, you can group up with people! That will definately make it easier for us to survive! The only problem is, you need to do some good damage in order to get decent XP. I could get more XP with a FWG5 than with a fixed Heavy Acid Rifle. Every other profession can do more damage per minute with their "special weapons" than Commandos can with their special weapons.

Please, for god sakes, listen to COMMANDOS when it comes to fixing Commandos. Obviousely you guys don't know what you're doing. You've given us broken weapons, and moronic ideal range. You've pretty much said everything except the fact that Commando is a secondary, utterly-useless profession. Give us commandos something good to work for. All we have now are big weapons that are no more than shiney big super soakers.

Unbelievable. They are getting paid to do this? How about re-allocating resources temporarily from the folks working on pistolier to help out the poor guy working on Commando. How about looking at some of the extremely well thought ideas from one of the fellow posters:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=commando&message.id=6038

I wonder if they have a Commando design doc with as much info fleshed out.

I would patiently wait if they showed a real commitment to an overhaul instead of showing stubborness and unwillingness to really address major design flaws.

Like folks have been saying, have they played the class? Have they played other MMORPGs? Have they played broken classes in other MMORPGs?

And the 0 range thing is rediculous. I should not have to sacrifice my life with a weapon I will only be able to use once before dieing that I have spent a lot of time and resources to get.

Hmm, I hear commandos are kinda broken, but my class, armorsmithing, does have a lot of problems of it's own...

I DO NOT BELIVE THIS!!!!

Come on! All this time spent getting master marksman and then the GRIND to get 40k combat exp.Oh an dont forget the days spent finding an heavy weapon which ended up being broke. All of this to be told commandos are fine!! BULLS^&T!!

Maybe ya'll should play your own bloody game. There's no damage increase at all?So this 35k weapon I got will still continue to do 10 an 20 damage. To do this damage we HAVE to be standing next to a mob.

BLEH!!!!

Acid Rifle= Rifle as in LONG RANGE

Flame thrower= Distance or you burn yourself to bacon.

Grenades= Throw away from you not 1 inch in front of you or you die.

Ok so its a game you dont have to have realisim.I tell ya what is real an plain enough though. This response that took ya 3 weeks is nothing but an insult to your customers.Go ahead add your storylines and new proffesions. And save time by leaving a class broken.I won't be here for it.Cancled my account. And you will be hearing from my credit card company about the No refund for 6 months service.

"These are extremely powerful weapons."

OMG that is funniest thing I've heard since playing this game obviously the devs have never even tested them. This statment alone declares one of two things:

1) Extreme neglect of devs to even test them.
2) Someone dev has just suffered an a major aneurysm he should be given medical treatment ASAP.

Since we know the certs weren't even checked I'd strongly recommend for the devs to test these weapons then comeback and try to support their statment.

(In regard's to Q's resources point)

Extremely powerful weapons? That, to me, is the prime bit of evidence that the devs are naive to this class. Due to the damage variations on my Launcher Pistol (3.2, 78-182) it can be EASILY outdamaged by an FWG5 (the one I have is 2.8, 48-172, yet still manages to do more damage) with a damage rating that's not even close. On Starsider, the resources for Launcher Pistols and Heavy Acid Rifles are available, but of EXTREMELY poor quality. My acid rifle's listed damage is 138, due to the cert problems i'm not able to see how it does in actual combat, i'll post an update on that tommorow. But, with 138 damage it barely outdamages a well crafted scout pistol.

Heavy weapons I could, maybe, understand as being rare. I have a poorly crafted lightning beam cannon that i'm testing that does a max of 435 (listed) damage with even poor materials, but it I have yet to EVER land a shot with it.

All the weapons in the Commando line are a joke. As difficult as it is to retrieve the materials the payoff just isn't worth it. Making the resources rare is all good, but having an Acid rifle and Flamethrower branch for weapons that are hard to come by makes very little sense to me, especially if they're the only ones in the Commando profession that are even close to working.

What I find funny is the fact that in Garibaldi's time compiling these issues, most of them are being swept away.Once again it seems that the Correspondants have accomplished nothing, simply because our suggestions and complaints aren't being taken to heart. Out of those top 5 issues, 2 actually recieved a response other than 'that's the way it's meant to be'.2 out of 5.

The question I pose to thedevelopers is 'What next?' After this patch is Commando done being worked because the changes would be going against the intended idea of the class? I'm trying to hold out faith that these problems will eventually be worked out, but my patience is running out. Some resolution would be nice, one way or the other.

Q, stop wasting our time. It's obvious to everyone that you're not trying your hardest to fix this profession. Your just doing enough to get by, and that's unacceptable. Do your job and quit duping us, because I'm on the brink of quitting right now
