Thread: 2 bothersom things from tonight's HOC chat
Yeah but see BH has specials that make it different and unique all we have is our weapons.

Helios if you're still out there...even if issues are hammered out, and this new system doesn't see much promise. Is there a "Plan-B" to help alleviate the problem of masters trying to level up in another disclipline?
Actually, at least for BHs, it resolves a lot of issues. It also solves the problem of people going for multiple masteries or changing templates.
Most people are not realizing that even though you might pick up a higher level weapon you would not have the profession specific accuracy and speed mods unless you level in that profession. So, a Master Rifleman will shoot his rifle much more accurately and faster than a master Carbineer using a Rifle.

IT'S IN TESTING, THINGS CAN AND WILL BE CHANGED.
Wait till the final product is out before everyone dives all over this. Getting hostile has scared off the devs once, don't do it again.
oh i see, wait until everything is tested fully and finalized, then released to live. after that THEN we can complain about it and hope they will change it?
Sure CURB 2.0 coming in 9 years after only 1 weekand a half of thoughtful development and rushed to live in time for Star Wars Episode 9 Return of the Aveneged Sith Grinders.
#1. Ignorance, explain to me exactly WHAT spaming all these hate messages on the COMMANDO FORUMwill solve. There are two other forums which are designed for you to spam all the hate messages you want about the CURB. Go there, state your complaint and be done with it.
And no what I was trying to say was we still have a good half month to a month of testing left, what we have no is not the final product and I think StarNick said this didn't come out the way the devs had planned. THINGS CAN AND WILL CHANGE, THEY ARE EXPERMINTING DIFFERENT THINGS. This little game isn't worth stressing so much about.
#2. The idea of removing certs is good it was just put it wrong which has been said a few times. Why? because anyone can fire any gun. I can hand everyone here any kind of gun and everyone will be able to fire it because it is two simple steps, saftey and pull the trigger. Same thing with a sword or axe, anyone can swing one.
However you can learn to shoot faster, reload quicker, shoot more accurate and crap like that with specialized training (ie. a sniper or a trickshot) Goes the same with a sword (ie. martial artists)
I never understood the reason for certs because of what I just said, gives it a touch of realism which for some reason the devs seem to be going away from with most of the other crap they are putting out. It makes since, just let them get it down packed.
#3. Commando's lose there identity? The weapon you walk around with determines what you are? We are heavy weapon specialists, we specialze in using are heavy weapons to there max ability. You think a Master Pistoller will be able to do as much damage with a rocket launcher as a Master Commando? The DPS will be the same but if they can't hit the side of a building and fire at half the speed we do what good is it?
If I pick up Master Commando and Master Rifleman and equip a pike, does that make me a pikeman? We are not losing are identity because people can now carry are weapons, we can carry any weapon we want and use any weapon we want (or atleast used to) in live. We can still use are weapons better then anyone else, which is exactly what a Commando is SWG is, an elite specialist in heavy weapons.

2. Respec will be based novice box for novice box and elite for elite making those unneeded marksman lines wasted grinding.

Just thought I'd pop back in to mention, that I'm hearing murmurings that they're already looking for better ways to handle respec. So here's hoping.

Thats not the point.
The point is we have completely lost any identity.
We are now the (other) profession upgrade profession...
- Need more speed? Try Commando
- Need more defenses? Try Commando
- Need more accuracy? Try Commando
OR Try BH. That has not changed regardless of the Weapon certs.
- Need a different weapon? Go by your local WS, and pick one up. You dont even need a cert for it as long as you have a high enough CL! woOT!
In order to be competitive people will want the weapon with the highest DPS. That is the Master level weapon. Also, as I said before if you do not have the profession skill mods that weapon is only good for leveling, which is the devs intent. Go ahead and run the numbers and you will see that just picking up a weapon is not going to help you with the end game unless you have the mods. And, again you need the master level weapons for the end game.
Skills should be level certified too if the weapons are gonna be.
Investigation at level 5! w00t! Make BH as pointless as commando!
Really though, its in the testing phase still. We shouldnt scream at the devs and call them stupid...but feel free to do it to other people who say your concerns aren't valid.

Im sorry. I dont get it. Can someone sum up the problem with having weapons uncerted, and how that effects Commando? Or BH?
Commandos were told the reason why we didn't get any (thats right not one) special is that our specials are built into the weapons and that we are "defined by our weapons." Now with the new change as it sits on TC anyone with the proper level can equip or weapons. So that which defined our class is open to all.
Now the argument is that they won't be able to use them as well as us... however with the right combination of general mods one can use them almost as well as a Master Commando having never trained a single commanod skill box. This makes commando a proffession to add a little speed or a little accuracy but other than that there no real reason now to train commando especially master commando.
As far as BH I disagree. This hits commanods much harder as we now are the only combat proffession with 0 weapon certs, 0 specials and 0 counter moves. BH still has some awesome specials in their proffession what do we have???????

i second that. if it's all about CL, and a padawan can use one, why can't I? I can get the same CL as a padawan. lightsabers for all!

(That comes from a Pistoleer that couldnt use half of the new pistols added in the CU).
I never associated the word "Commando" to "Heavy Weapon Specialist" anyway.
