Thread: Some Q and A on upcomming changes
Did I just read that correctly Kave? Or was it a misstatement? Poison AND Bleeds are stopping at 1? And possibly fire when you get to try it out?
If that is correct, then it eliminates part of my resistance to the change. Maybe 25% of my resistance
One of the most common ways for me to die in PvP is either from some form of mind bleed (i poisoned, he bled, Iwe both go boom) or an action/health/fire bleed when I'm not properly paying attention. If this change will affect all DOT's I feel much more comfortable about it. And it also appears to be something other than an arbitrary change, but a decision the dev's have made to limit DOT's.

yes you read it right Bender, bleeds are capped at +1 like poisons are, stilll need to test the flame though

I do not see you contributing to this forum. In fact, I just did a search on your contribution to the CM forum and all I've found was 7 replies in 4 separate threads within the Combat Medic Forum.
And for you to come on to this forum board blasting people as you're doing right now is an ourage. Until you have contructively contributed to this forum, you do not have the right to criticize someone.
You don't even know what it means to be a Combat Medic, have you endure the pain and hardship went this profession was first started? All you're doing is reaping the reward of those who painstakenly contributed, written, and offered suggestions to the Developers and on this forum.
For you to bash Zarlor like this is a blashpemy.
Actually I consider it blasphemy for anyone to try to defend Zarlor. He screwed up. Badly. If he isn't man enough to admit it and try to get this grievous error corrected is an injustice to every CM in the game currently and all future CMs.
Okay another Flavor of the Month Combat Medic with just as little contribution to this forum as AllGalaxies had. Until you contribute regularly, you're a non-factor. 09/10/2003, heh that's sad.
oy, i knew i should check the boards more often. Really i think this is a lame bandaid fix. Bleeds and poisons stop at +1? I'm sorry but you can't bleed to death? Miracle living after being poisoned? This pretty much makes everything imperious to bleed/poison. Yeah it does the damage down to +1 but what's the point of striping out the killing ability of bleeds and poisons?
Also i can agree with the can't poison/diease corspes but incap? Oh i think you should be abel to. The person is basically unconsious. That shouldn't give them protection from poisons. I mean hell if you don't want to death blow the person you want to keep them out of action as long as possible. So dieasing someone who's incapped while might be condicered greifing... they have less HAM for me to worry abuot and thus become less of a threat allowing you to focus on someone else in PVP who is more of a threat.
Or real world logic doesn't apply to this fantasy world environment.

LOL -- you want to know something sad? For someone that is so concerned about how long I have been using the mssg boards, your first post ever is 08-29-2003 11:25 AM.
Now I don't think that is relatively important, but since you think that I wasn't a combat medic until I posted first, I must assume that your first post means that you had never played a day before August 29th. YOu are incorrect, I had a friend go back and look at my email to him when I made combat medic, it was August 15th. I guess I have been a CM at least 14 days prior to you being one =P Not that it means much, but gosh they way you yap, I would have figured you to be a Master CM within 1 week of retail release, not some "flavor of the month" chump like you accuse me of, hehe. Or perhaps did you not post for a long time when you didn't play? Hmm, I think alot of ppl never regestered for the boards until they made them private, so that we had to register to see them.... Man open your mind, you may be suprised what you see out there.
So kid grow up and realise that you are not as smart as you think, nor as experienced. Just because you have averaged over 10 posts a day it doesn't make you suddenly an expert. All it makes you is one bored kid sitting at home, or a real slacker at work stealing your bosses money surfing the web.
Oh yes, and BTW I was an expert bounty Hunter (Bounty Pistol 4) and made this character to try out something different, more of a support role(I had seen some CMs in action and thought it was really cool class, healing and attacking was very interesting). So when shadowfire popped up, here I can to make a character. Started with the intention of being a CM/Carbineer (LOL, it was a bad combo for my playstyle). I really liked him and then became a master doctor to further support myself and friends with buffs. By the time he was really moving along I decided to retire my BH and play Bochy (Dr/CM), Bochy had alot more possiblities than Okee (my BH, and around that time Carbine became really bad for BH and the LLC was still not out, investigation... well it's investigation, 300 houres of looking for marks that don't always appear) on Flurry ever would, I could run a business, buff ppl, be a great PvP solo or group member and Shadowfire was alot more fun in general than Flurry. So I can understand that you may not have started your CM on 8-29-03, how about you figure out that posting on this board really is not a measure of how well you play (because if so you show such ignorance here, I bet you couldn't kill a nuna) in game or when you started playing. Not everyone lives on the board.
Remember, you have a right to think they are doing a great job, I don't begrudge you this. I have a right to think that they are doing a poor job, don't begrudge me that. Guess what I can be critical of anyone, anyone's performance, and any poorly thought out bandaid I please and you can do nothing about it but show your rear and make poorly thought out flames against ppl. How stupid can you be? Being critical of me because I didn't register for the boards until they made me, when your first post was only 12 days before mine. What a joke, eh?
At least after looking into your "superior qualifications" I did get a pretty good laugh (you are good for a laugh at least), have fun and stay safe.
But I am done w/the CM boards, I don't really find anything helpful here anymore. There are a few posters that are the most "elitist" I have seen on any board. And it is darn depressing to see ppl calling to get themselved nerfed. Nerf all you want, there is always another server and another class to master. Here's hoping that the FPS slot opens even if it takes several server characters to master the required skill ![]()
It may not make logical sense for a poison/bleed not to fully kill, but I think it will overall make for FAR more fun fights PvP.
I'm one of the MD/MCM combo type people... and I have to admit, killing 30 people standing around idly is all too easy. The deathblow rush is quite intense...
It should be clear to anyone that dealing with this change is not as hard as it seems.
CM's get enough skill points for a collection of headshot1, bodyshot1 or action shot 1 from any of the marksman lines. Even suppresion fire now does semi-decent random ham damage. Enought to get 1 point of damage in anyway.
I'm actually looking forward to this change. So, soloing hoards of people becomes a little tricker... still possible, but tricky. More challenge is a good thing.
So, Kavedawg again, stick to your guns. It is so refreshing seeing people that have an understanding of balance and game dynamics trying to make this game what is supposed to be - fun.
Take it easy.

Personally, I feel that anytime an Overt or group of Overts is just 'standing around idly' they deserve to die. If you've gone overt you better stay on your toes
I know that I've been wiped out by NOVICE Riflemen when I'm just 'standing around idly' not paying attention.
As far as this change goes, I'm slowly becoming resigned to the likelihood that it'll be what we get on live. So I've started considering new tactics. I figure since we'll FINALLY have Advanced Resilience Compounds our diseases should get up to or close to the current strength of our poisons. And since they are functionally EXACTLY the same thing as our poisons will be, but with the added bonus of wounds, it looks like I'm going to become a disease spewing machine.
So for all you Imps on Eclipse who like to come to AH, get ready for a bellyful of the nastiest cases of black rot you've ever imagined ![]()
However I dont agree with the reasoning that this is the fault of the CM correspondents. You have to understand how correspondents work. SoE picks out the things they implement from a HUGE list of issues the correspondents brings up. If Zarlor at one time suggested to stop poison ticks at 1pt to assure looting rights, SoE picked it up and presents it now as solution for the CM issue. To shoot down Zarlor and KaveDawg for the stupidity of SoE is ludicrous. I trust KaveDawg to present ALL our suggestions to SoE, but in the end SoE decides what will be implemented, not our correspondents.
The issues of the CM IMO are not enough dmg in PvE and thus unscaleable PvP dmg. Up the poison damage by 100% and reduce the PvP damage to 60% of that enhanced value. And cap Range at 64m. The major problem coming our way, as Valkhar pointed out, is that this is only the beginning nerf, there will be mmore nerfs incoming soon.
Oh, well guess I might do what my Holocron told me after all. Master Scout here I come.
P.S.: I am one of the people getting the biggest nerf out of this. TKA/CM

Actually, to clarify this better, I didn't suggest this to them first. Our Dev asked about the situation stating that they didn't like the solution they had put in with the incap dance. There were several threads on that issue at that time onthe CM board. I offered that suggestion as something jsut off the top of my head, because the Docs had been talking a lot about Mind Damage answers, one of them having been to not allow Mind Damage to incap someone. This seemed like a starting point to me and I posted it on the core forum then in the threads where I felt I could try to troll out some responses from the CMs withoutbeing blatant that this is what our Dev was asking for (because I wasn't given permission to do that, not because I wanted to be "sneaky" about it.)
After that, it's pretty much like you suggest. I offered all of the comments folks were making here and Mr. Hanson decided he wanted to try working with the straight no-incap suggestion.
If you make the 1HP poisen change how the heck are we supposed to kill the folks running into houses? I think you need to give us a way to get past those house forcefields in PVP. folks that take pot shots from privite houses are the lamest of the lame.
CM's where the only ones able to get these buggers. They pop out and you get lucky dropping a poisen on them.
